구스타프 클림트(Gustav Klimt)의 작품을 응용한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

옷은 인간의 삶의 기본조건인 의·식·주를 논하는 가운데서도 가장 먼저 거론되듯 일상생활과 뗄 수 없는 밀접한 관계를 맺고 있다. 그러나 옷은 회화나 조각 등 조형예술분야와 마찬가지로 선이나 면 그리고 색이라는 조형적 요소를 바탕으로 한다. 이러한 연유로 많은 디자이너들이 옷의 표현에 많은 노력을 기울여왔으며 새로운 세대들의 옷은 아름다움을 추구하는 대상이며 동시에 그 아름다움을 실험하는 장으로 예술적 인식이 더욱 강조되고 있다. 예술작품중에서도 회화는 복식의 중요한 모티브로서 특히 색과 형을 중심으로 한 조형이란 점에서 의상과 유사점이 많기 때문에 많은 패션 디자이너들이 회화작품의 특성을 도입, 응용하여 독특하고 창의적인 디자인 개발의 원동력으로 활용해 왔다. 이에 본 연구는 아르누보(Art Nouveau)운동에 있어서 주도적 역할을 하였고, 여성적이며 장식적인 특성을 가지고 있는 구스타프 클림트(Gustav Klimt)의 예술세계를 고찰하고 퀼트(Quilt)기법을 응용하여 작품을 제작하였다. 특히 유기적인 문양과 상징적 문양, 기하학적 문양 등 장식적 특성을 의상에 도입하여 유기적 조형미와 환상적이면서 관능적인 이미지를 입체적으로 강조하고자 했다. 연구방법으로는 문헌고찰을 통한 이론적 연구와 다양한 퀼트기법을 실험하여 작품을 제작하였다. 이론적 배경으로는 아르누보양식과 대표적 작가인 구스타프 클림트에 대해 살펴보았으며 회화와 복식과의 관계를 알아보았다. 또한 퀼트기법의 개념 및 역사, 종류와 특성, 제작기법에 대해 연구하고 실험하였으며 퀼트기법이 의상디자인에 도입된 사례에 대해 살펴보았다. 이를 토대로 클림트 회화의 문양을 재구성하여 퀼트기법을 응용해 복식에 도입한 작품 총 8점을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아르누보 양식과 그에 주도적 역할을 한 구스타프 클림트에 대해 고찰한 결과 유기적 문양과 상징적 문양, 기하학적 문양은 의상디자인의 모티브로 적합하였다. 둘째, 구스타프 클림트의 작품을 모티브로 해서 재구성된 문양은 퀼트기법으로 응용되기에 조형미와 장식성이 뛰어나고 조각으로 이어지므로 다양한 문양과 풍부한 색상을 표현하기에 적합하였다. 셋째, 퀼트기법의 전통적인 기법과 새로운 기법을 사용하였으며 퀼팅을 함으로써 부조적인 입체감을 나타내는데 효과적이었다. 넷째, 퀼트기법을 응용한 의상의 예술적 표현증대와 조형성을 통해 복식도 조형 요소로 구성되는 조형예술의 한 분야임을 확인시켜주었다. 앞으로 클림트의 독특한 화면구성방식과 화려한 색채, 장식적 문양이 더 다양하게 복식디자인에 표현되어지길 바라며 회화와 복식과의 접목을 통한 예술의 실용화 및 의상의 예술화가 끊임없이 이루어졌으면 한다.;Clothing is often mentioned first among the three basic elements of human life- food clothing and shelter. Clothing is closely related to daily life, and only its function and symbolic meaning are often emphasized, not its decorative aspects. However, clothing is based on modeling elements such as line, plane and color as other modeling arts such as painting and sculpting. For this reason, a lot of designers have been making great efforts for expressing clothing. Clothing for the younger generation is the subject of searching beauty and it is considered as part of art. As painting is similar to clothing in that it is based on color and form, and a lot of fashion designers have been using the characteristics of painting works for developing creative design Hereby, this study examines the art world of Gustav Klimt, who played a leading role in the Art Nouveau movement and is famous for his feminine and decorative characteristics, and applies quilt skills. Especially, it introduces art nouveau patterns and symbolic modes to clothing to emphasize the organic beauty ann fantastic and sensual image. As a study method, I did a theoretical studies through literature, and created a work by making various quilt skills as a sample. The theoretical background includes the Art Nouveau mode and its representative artist Gustav Klimt, and it also looks at relation between painting and clothing. Also, I examines and experimented the concept, history, characteristics and creating methods of quilt, and looked at case of applying quilt skills to clothing. Based on this, I created total eight works by restructuring Gustav Klimt's painting modes and applying quilt skills. The following are the results of this study. First, in results of examining the Art Nouveau mode and its leader Gustav Klimt, its organic modes and geometrical modes are suitable for clothing. Second, the restructured modes by the motives of Gustav Klimt made a decorative and delicate work. Third, I used both traditional and new skills of quilt, and hand made quilting was effective in expressing a cubic effect. Fourth, the application of quilt to clothing and the expansion of artistic expression ensured that clothing is part of modeling art.
