음악을 이용한 무용창작작품 「Illusion」에 관한 연구

Abstract

오늘날 예술작품은 타 장르와 조화를 이루며 새로운 표현수단을 만들어내고 장르간의 영역이 확장되면서 다양한 형태의 작품으로 창조되고 있다. 그 중 무용에 있어서 음악의 접목은 움직임을 감성적으로 표현하는데 도움을 주고 작품의 이미지를 효과적으로 전달하는데 기여한다. 무용과 음악은 서로 독립성을 가짐에도 불구하고 상호 보완적인 관계를 유지하면서 발전해오고 있다. 무용작품에 있어서 음악은 매개체 역할을 할 뿐만 아니라 움직임에 더해짐으로써 작품의 표현성을 확대시키고 작품의 의도를 보다 명확하게 표현하게 한다. 또한 음악은 안무가에게 창작적 영감을 주는 역할을 하여 안무하는데 있어서 여러의미로 해석할 수 있는 창의적 소재와 동기부여의 촉매 역할을 한다. 이에 연구자는 음악을 통해 느껴진 감성이 창작의 소재를 만들고 작품화를 이루는 중요한 요소로 작용하고 있음을 찾는데 연구의 필요성을 갖는다. 본 연구는 음악을 이용한 무용창작작품「Illusion」(2010)에 대한 분석으로 이루어진다. 작품은 Bach의 Cello Suite No.3 중 Sarabande를 듣고 느낀 이미지들을 가지고 작품의 주제와 내용을 전개하였다. 환상에 따른 의식의 불균형으로 현실과 비현실을 구분하지 못한 채 받아들이는 모습을 세 개의 장으로 구성하였으며 주제 및 내용, 장면별 구성, 무대 이동경로와 음악에 따른 움직임을 중점적으로 다루어 안무하였다. 또한 선율 위주의 음악인 사라방드와 상반되는 리듬 위주의 음악인 타악기 음악을 사용함에 따라 조명의 변화를 줌으로써 무대 공간을 구분하였고 이를 통해 인물의 심리상태를 표현하는 동시에 주제와 내용을 보다 효과적으로 전달하고자 하였다. 작품의 1장에서는 현실에서 환영을 발견하고 타의적인 이끌림에 덮어두었던 환상의 기억 속으로 들어가게 되는 몽환적인 상태를 표현하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 음악 사라방드의 사용을 통해 어둡고, 쓸쓸하며 무거움이 느껴지는 장면 분위기를 더욱 고조시켰으며 현실을 나타내는 하수 앞의 탑 조명과 환상임을 나타내는 푸른색 격자무늬조명을 사용함으로써 장면을 연출함에 있어서 공간의 구분을 명확히 하였다. 또한 환영의 이끌림을 표현하기 위하여 길 조명의 사용과 직선 패턴의 이동으로 주제의 이미지에 강렬함을 더하고자 하였고 움직임에 있어서 음악의 특징에 따라 무겁게 들어올리는 팔, 다리 동작과 특질의 반복사용을 통해 무용수가 환상에 몰입되어가는 상태를 나타내고자하였다. 2장에서는 환상의 몰입이 절정에 이르면서 현실과 이상의 괴리와 혼돈 속에서 괴로움에 몸부림을 치고, 부정적 기억 안에서 벗어나고자 시도하지만 덫에 걸린 듯 더욱 심하게 무용수의 의식을 지배한다. 이러한 불안함과 괴로움, 흥분과 혼란스런 상태를 타악기 음악의 빠른 리듬과 붉은색 격자무늬 조명의 사용을 통해 절정에 다다르게 하였다. 빠르게 진행되는 곡선의 방향 전환과 높낮이가 크고 엑센트가 강한 동작을 사용함으로써 긴박하고 강박적인 무용수의 심리상태를 표현하였다. 3장에서는 현실과 이상을 구분지으려 하지만 결국 환상의 기억을 받아들인 채 현실로 돌아와 안주하는 내용을 다루었다. 무용수는 현실로 돌아왔지만 여전히 환상의 기억이 존재하고 있음을 나타내기 위해 이전과 같이 1장에서 사용한 사라방드와 조명을 통해 절제되고 무거운 느낌의 동작으로 마무리하면서 작품의 주제와 내용을 함축적으로 담아내었다. 연구자는 작품「Illusion」을 통해 음악에 따른 감정상태가 무용창작에 있어서 직, 간접적인 영향을 주며 춤의 이미지를 표출할 수 있는 하나의 모티브가 될 수 있음을 강조하고자 하였다.;Today, art works are pursuing a new means of expression harmonizing with other genres. And, as the spheres of the genre are expanded, works of the various forms are being created. Especially, grafting music on dance contributes on expressing movements emotionally and communicating the image of the work effectively. Dance and music, despite their independency, have developed continually with the complementary relationship. In dancing works, music not only takes an intervening role but extends expression with movements and helps intention of the work to be expressed more definitely. In addition, music gives a choreographer creative inspiration so takes a catalytic role in giving him the creative subject matters interpreted in many ways and motivation. So, this study intends to identify that sensibility from music makes subject matters for creation and functions as the important element for working. This research analyses a dancing creative work「Illusion」(2010) Inspried music. The work develops the theme and contents with images on Sarabande, Cello Suite No.3, Bach. It's composed of 3 scenes. That is, by individual's personal illusion different from reality, another illusion occurs, and with the resulting imbalance, a dancer accepts it while never recognizing the difference between reality and unreality. And, choreography was done concentrated on the theme and contents, composition of each scene, stage moving route and movement according to music. Also, stage spaces are divided through using the rhythm-centered percussion music contrary to melody-centered Sarabande and giving a change of lighting. It aims at expressing the psychological state of characters and conveying the theme and contents efficiently. In the 1st scene, it intends to express the dreamy state of discovering illusion in the reality and entering the covered memory of illusion by leading of another person's will. Dark, lonely and heavy atmosphere of the scene rises to the climax using Sarabande. And using a top lighting in front of the stage left representing the reality and blue plaids representing illusion, spaces are divided definitely in presenting the scene. Furthermore, it aims at expressing leading of illusion by using lighting of the road, and emphasizing intensity of the theme image by moving of the straight-lined pattern. As for movements, it also aims at expressing the state a dancer is immersed in illusion by repetitive using of movements of raising arms and legs heavily fitting for characteristics of music. In the 2nd scene, immersion in illusion rises to the climax, while suffering from the gap and confusion between reality and ideal, a dancer tries to escape from the negative memory. However, it dominates more severely consciousness of the dancer as if caught in a trap. Such anxiety, agony, excitement and confusion reach the climax using rapid rhythm of the percussion and lighting of red plaids. Using rapid change of direction of a curve and movements of great high and low with strong accent, express psychological state of the dancer, or tense and obsessive. In the 3rd scene, a dancer tries to separate reality from unreality but lives peacefully after coming back to reality while accepting memory of illusion. Though the dancer returned to reality, to show still memory of illusion exists, express the theme and contents of the work implicatively with finishing of moderated and heavy motions by Sarabande and lighting which was used in the 1st scene. Through the work「Illusion」, this study aims at emphasizing that emotional state according to music has direct and indirect effects on creation of dancing, and can be a motive to express the image of dance.
