J. Brahms Sonata No.1 in e minor for Cello and Piano Op.38에 대한 연구

Abstract

신고전주의 작곡가로 대표되는 Johannes Brahms (1833-1897)는 고전주의 형식 위에 낭만주의적 이념을 결합해서 표현하려 하였다. 그는 극음악이나 교향시 등의 표제 예술에 대항하여 전통적 고전주의 형식의 교향곡과 실내악을 선호하였으며 낭만주의 시대의 그 어느 작곡가보다도 잘 표현하고 있다. 이 곡은 그의 전성기인 제2기에 쓰여진 작품으로 전형적인 낭만주의 음악이면서도 고전적 형식을 중요시한 작품이다. 곡의 구성은 3악장으로 제1악장은 Sonata형식이며 고전시대의 Sonata양식을 유지하면서 형식적, 조성적으로 발전된 변화를 보여준다. 제2악장에서는 Trio를 갖는 Menuetto로서 Compound Ternary Form을 가지며 Da Capo의 사용으로 곡의 흐름에 통일성을 준다. 제3악장은 Fugue의 기법을 이용한 3부분 형식으로 Fugue에 사용되는 주제에 전위형태 등으로 변화함으로서 독창성 있는 형식으로 구성된다. 본 논문에서는 Cello Sonata No.1을 형식적, 화성적, 선율적 요소를 중심으로 분석하여 Brahms음악의 특징적인 형식과 고전적인 전통과의 관계고찰 및 그의 생애를 살펴봄으로서 작곡가의 작곡의도에 벗어나지 않는 연주가의 작품해석을 돕고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다.;Post-romanticism at the end of 19th century was divided by New Germanism led by Richard Wagner(1813-1883) and New-classicism led by J. Brahms. Cello Sonata No. 1 op. 38 reflects Brahms sorrow resulted from death of his mother as well as his unique gloomy mood of Northern Europe. The whole movement is in minor key, and Cello was used mostly in low register, so that Cello Sonata No. 1 op. 38 shows sentimental, courteous and sincere mood. J. Brahms composed this sonata in his golden age of the second period. Although this piece is a typical romantic period work, it also emphasized classical form of 3 movements. The first movement which consists of exposition, development, and recapitulation reserves typical romantic period's sonata form. The second movement is menuetto which has trio, and it is compound 3 part form in A-B-A style. Also, the second movement has feeling of unification by Da Capo. The third movement consists of A-B-A'-Coda of compound 3 part, using Fugue method. The whole third movement has imitative form of piano and cello. This piece generally has elements of romanticism such as various modulation, wide interval jumping, chromatic scale.
