APEC and women

Abstract

APEC 이란 Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation 이다. 그렇기 때문에 APEC 내에서의 여성이슈가 대두된 이유는 여성참여로 인한 생산증가에 그 목표를 두어 시작을 하였다. 그래서 UN과는 그 성격에 차이가 있는 것이다. 이 논문은 이화여대 징필화 교수가 2000년 APEC 여성자문그룹(AGGI) 의장으로 활동하면서 만들어낸 Framework for the Integration of Women in APEC의 내용과 한국, 미국, 호주의 중소기업의 여성참여에 중점을 두어 분석하고 문제점들을 지적하였다. 중소기업의 여성참여에 대한 자료는 HRDWG에서 준비한 자료를 바탕으로 하였다. 아직도 많은 분야에는 여성의 참여를 힘들게 하는 요소가 있다. 하지만 그것을 탓하지만 말고 지혜롭게 헤쳐나가야 하는 것이 우리 여성들의 역할인 것이다. 여성자문그룹, HRDWG, Ministerial Meeting in Women Issues들은 서로 연계되어 있고 또한 여성의 APEC내의 참여확대의 강건한 디딤돌 역할을 하였고 하고 있다. 이 디딤돌 위에서 우리는 모든 산업 및 APEC 내에서의 여성참여확대를 정부 및 민간기업을 주도로 꾸준히 노력하여야 할 것이다.;The aim of this study is to look closely at APEC’s activities and its effort to encourage women’s participation. Although the history of the activities related to women issues are relatively short, the achievement is remarkably significant. The Ministerial Meeting on Women is the highest level and there is Senior Officials Meeting(SOM) that and an Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Gender Integration (AGGI) under SOM. SOM prepares recommendations to ministers and the ministers suggest these recommendations to Leaders. Since APEC is an economic organization, there were vigorous participation to collect data about each economies women’s involvement in SMEs. Women in SMEs and critical tasks of the Framework are closely examined in the study. With this thesis as a benchmark, I hope the study can provide useful information on how women are trying to participate in APEC and why women have to be involved in the organization.
