클로드 드뷔시의 'Syrinx'와 토루 타케미츠의 'Air'에 대한 인상주의 음악 비교연구

Abstract

19세기말 이후부터 프랑스에서 일어난 음악양식인 인상주의 음악은 풍부한 음색과 다양하고 변화가 많은 화성이 만들어 내는 분위기를 그 특징으로 가진다. 인상주의 작곡가들은 자연, 소리의 개념, 모티브취급, 인간의 심리학적 상태에 대한 관심을 그들의 작품에 반영하였다. 이를 대표하는 프랑스 작곡가는 드뷔시(Claude Achille Debussy)이다. 그의 음악은 온음계(Whole-tone Scale), 반음계(Chromatic scale), 교회선법(church mode), 5음계(Pentatonic Scale)등을 사용하였고, 화음에는 4도, 5도를 더불어 7, 9, 11, 13도까지 자주 사용되었다. 그는 다양한 화성진행을 통한 색채와 분위기를 표현하였다. 일본 작곡가인 토루 타케미츠(Toru Takemitsu)는 자연으로부터 영감을 많이 받고 자연적인 주제(바람, 비, 바다, 정원 등)를 반영한 작품 제목을 많이 남겼다. 그의 음악은 소리와 정적간의 균형을 중요시하였고, 일본 전통음악의 미학으로부터 영향을 받았으며, 일본문화와 예술을 도입했던 드뷔시의 영향을 받았다. 이 논문에서는 인상주의음악의 영향을 받은 드뷔시의 생애, 드뷔시의 음악적 특징들을 알아보고, 드뷔시의 인상주의 기법을 알아볼 수 있는 그의 유일한 플루트 무반주 독주곡 Syrinx을 분석하기로 한다. 또한 드뷔시의 영향을 받았던 토루 타케미츠의 역사적 배경, 그의 생애와 그의 마지막 유작이 된 플루트 독주곡들 중 하나인 Air를 통해 연주기법과 그의 음악적 특징들을 알아보고, 두 작곡가들의 유사성과 차이점을 비교 분석해보며 두 작곡가들이 인상주의 음악으로부터 어떤 영향을 받았는지, 서양 플루트를 통해 두 작곡가들이 나타내고자 했던 음악의 특성들은 무엇인지 그들의 대표 무반주곡 Syrinx와 Air를 통해 연구해 보기로 한다.;This thesis issues on comparative analysis on Impressionist music by Claude Debussy's 'Syrinx' and Toru Takemits's 'Air'. Impressionism is a musical movement occurred in france in the late 19th century, it emphasizes color, timbre and various harmonies in music. Impressionism composers reflects their interests in nature, concepts towards sound, treatment for motives, and psychological status of human being in their compositions. C. Debussy is a French composer who represents Impressionistic music. He has employed Whole-tone Scale, Chromatic scale, church mode, and Pentatonic Scale in his music, has frequently used quartal and fifth chords for harmony, followed by frequent use of seventh, ninth, eleventh, and thirteenth chords. Debussy has brought about a new effect by expressing tone and mood through various harmonic sequences. Toru Takemitsu has left many pieces with titles that have reflected nature (wind, rain, ocean, and garden), and this was attributable to his much inspiration from nature in many levels. Toru Takemitsu’s music emphasized a balance between sound and silence, was affected by Japanese traditional music’s aesthetics and by Debussy who has introduced Japanese culture and arts into his music. The purpose of this study is to take a look at the life of Claude Achille Debussy affected by impressionist music and the characteristics of his music. And the study has taken a look at Cladue Debussy’s impressionist technique by analyzing Syrinx of his solo music. Also, the study has taken a look at the historical background of Toru Takemitsu who was affected by Claude Achille Debussy, and his musical characteristics including his musical technique through Air, one of his flutist solo music as his posthumous work. Finally, the study has compared similarities and differences between the two composers and the theme of his study is to understand through their representative solo music "Syrinx and Air" how these two composers were affected by impressionist music and what musical characteristics they attempted to express through western flute music.
