조스캥 데 프레의 미사 <Gaudeamus>에 나타난 그레고리오 성가 『Gaudeamus』 도입 선율에 관한 연구

Abstract

'부활', '재생'이라는 뜻의 르네상스(Renaissance)란 14세기경~16세기 유럽에서 일어난 문예 부흥 운동으로, 음악사적으로는 중세와 바로크 시대를 연결하는 15세기~16세기의 유럽 음악을 의미한다. 르네상스 시대의 음악은 부르고뉴 악파를 계승한 플랑드르 악파에 의해 발달하기 시작했다. 플랑드르 악파는 당시 유럽 각지의 대성당과 궁정 예배당의 성가대 등에서 활동하면서 그들의 음악을 국제적인 음악 기법으로 발전시켰다. 플랑드르 악파의 대표적인 작곡가인 조스캥 데 프레(Josquin des Prez, 1440-1521)는 르네상스 시대의 전 유럽을 통틀어 가장 뛰어난 작곡가로 평가받고 있다. 그는 18곡의 미사, 6개의 독립적인 미사 악장, 약 110여 곡의 모테트, 약 70여 곡의 세속음악 등을 남겼으며, 특히 미사 작품에 있어서 정선율 미사, 변용 미사, 모방 미사, 대위법적 기법에 의한 미사, 오스티나토(ostinato) 기법에 의한 미사, 소제토 카바토(soggeto cavato) 기법에 의한 미사 등을 작곡하며, 후대의 미사 작곡 양식에 선구자적인 역할을 하였다. 본 논문에서는 르네상스 시대의 미사, 모테트 등의 종교음악이 당시에 어떻게 연주가 되었는지에 대해서 살펴본 후, 조스캥의 미사 <Gaudeamus>에 나타나는 그레고리오 성가 『Gaudeamus』 도입 선율에 관해 연구하였다. 그의 정선율 미사 중 하나인 미사 <Gaudeamus>의 전 악장에 그레고리오 성가 『Gaudeamus』의 도입 선율이 계속 등장하고 있음을 발견하여 이를 연구 주제로 삼게 되었다. 즉, 조스캥 데 프레의 미사 <Gaudeamus>에는 그레고리오 성가 『Gaudeamus』의 도입 선율이 전 악장에 걸쳐 10개의 다양한 선율 형태로 총 61회 나타나는데, 조스캥은 장식음 삽입, 선율 연장, 리듬 변화, 동음 반복 등의 다양한 방법을 사용하여 성가 도입 선율을 변화시켰다. 그는 변형된 도입 선율을 미사 <Gaudeamus>의 전 악장에 등장시켜 통일감을 부여하였고, 미사 작품과 성가 선율 사이의 밀접한 관계를 명백하게 드러나게 하였다. 이러한 조스캥 데 프레의 미사 <Gaudeamus>에 나타난 성가 도입 선율에 관한 연구·분석이 르네상스 시대의 정선율 미사, 특히 조스캥의 미사 작품 연주에 조금이나마 기여하기를 바라는 바이다.;Renaissance, the meaning of "rebirth" and "recreation", is an artistic revival movement that had occurred from the middle of the 14th to the end of the 16th century in Europe. In terms of music history, it means the music that connects the medieval and baroque era during the 15th and 16th century. Renaissance music has developed through the Flandre School that succeeded the Bourgogne School. The Flandre School had played an important role in grand cathedrals and choirs all around Europe and have developed their music to an international standard. Josquin des Prez(c.1440-1521), a representative composer from the Flandre School, is known as one of the most remarkable composers in Europe. He composed 18 works of mass, 6 separated mass movements, 110 motets, and 70 pieces of secular music. He became a pioneer of future musicians especially in Mass music, by using the various techniques of composition; cantus firmus, alternations, imitations, counterpoint, ostinatos, and soggeto cavato. In this dissertation, First I have looked for how religious music such as renaissance mass and motet was performed and then I researched the introduction melody of 'Gaudeamus', the Gregorian chant, that appears in the mass of Josquin des Prez, <Gaudeamus>. After I found that the introduction melody of the Gregorian chant 'Gaudeamus' is appearing continually in his cantus firmus mass, <Gaudeamus>, that's why I decided to use it as the title. In other words, the introduction melody of the Gregorian chant 'Gaudeamus' appears in his <Gaudeamus> 61 times in all movements with 10 modified melody types. He made modifications on the introduction by using the techniques such as ornament, melody extension, melody modification, and repetition. Josquin made a uniformity by presenting the modified chant melodies in all movements of <Gaudeamus> and made an intimate relation obvious distinctiveness between mass and choir melody, I hope this research and analysis would contribute to the better performance of cantus firmus mass of Renaissance era, especially Josquin's pieces.
