Abstract

본 논문은 플루트를 위한 음악 작품을 일반 독자(음악 비전공자)를 위해 소개하는 안내서를 영문으로 작성하고 그 방법을 제시하는데 목적을 둔다. 본 논문에 수록된 안내서는 바로크 시대부터 20세기까지 쓰여진 작품 중 대표적인 7개의 곡을 시대순으로 소개하고 있다. 플루트는 관악기 중 대중적으로 가장 잘 알려지고 인기 있는 악기임에도 불구하고 주로 관현악곡, 성악곡, 현악작품을 소개하는 기존의 음악작품 안내서에서는 플루트를 위한 곡은 거의 소개되어지지 않아왔다. 본 논문은 또한 일반인을 위한 음악 작품 안내서 작성에 있어서 유의해야 할 점을 다루고 있다. 작품의 작곡 배경과 작곡가의 전기 자료 같은 풍부한 배경 지식과 각 작품의 분위기 전달, 음악전문용어 사용의 자제, 시각적인 자료의 중요성을 논한다. 또한 여러 가지 작문 기법 중 안내서의 내용을 효과적으로 독자에게 전달하는데 필수적인 수사적 표현, 명확성을 높이기 위한 능동태와 다양한 문장구조의 사용 등을 소개한다.;The purpose of this thesis is to write a guide booklet introducing flute music to non-expert readers. This booklet consists of seven chapters, each dealing with a major work for flute from the Baroque music to the 20th century. Although flute is the most popular wind instrument played by both amateurs and professionals, existing music guidebooks mostly introduce orchestral, vocal, or string works. So, this booklet can be a meaningful addition to the available literature. The theoretical part of this thesis first defines the characteristics of music essays and then discusses the type of content essential in this kind of writing: background information, description of the composition, definitions of terms, and visuals. It also describes writing techniques used in Music in Words: A Guide to Flute Literature to deliver the contents effectively. These verbal and nonverbal features are explained with various excerpts from the guide booklet.
