여성사적 관점에서 산업혁명 다시보기

Abstract

산업혁명은 근대 사회로 나아가게 된 전환점이자 새로운 기계와 기술의 발명으로 혁명적인 사회․경제적 변화를 이끌어냈던 시기로 세계사적인 측면에서 중요하게 다루어지고 있는 주제이다. 때문에 많은 연구들이 자본주의의 발달을 이끌어낸 산업혁명과 그로인한 사회변화에 주목하고 있으며 역사교육에서도 이러한 부분이 강조되어오고 있다. 또한 여성사적인 관점에서 살펴 본 산업혁명은 여성의 노동의 범위를 확대시키고 새로운 권리를 찾게 하는데 지대한 영향을 미쳤던 중요한 시기이며 여성의 기여와 그로 인한 변화들에 대해 최근의 여성사 연구에서 중요하게 다루어지고 있지만, 현재 학생들이 접하는 교과서와 산업혁명 관련 내용에는 여성의 모습이 나타난 자료가 등장함에도 불구하고 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지에 대해서는 제대로 된 서술이 되어있지 않아 그 중요성이 간과되고 있어 이러한 내용을 보완한 산업혁명시기 여성사 관련 수업은 학생들의 여성사에 대한 이해뿐만 아니라, 보다 완벽한 모습의 산업혁명을 볼 수 있다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 부분에 착안하여 고등학생을 대상으로 여성사, 특히 산업혁명시기 여성의 역사를 흥미롭게 이해할 수 있는 수업을 설계하였다. 이를 위해 주제와 관련한 연구 성과와 삽화 등의 자료를 토대로 제작한 영상과 활동지를 통해 학생들이 분석하고 내용을 이해할 수 있도록 활용한 수업을 시연함으로써 본 연구의 실제 수업 적용 가능성을 확인하고 학생들의 여성과 산업혁명에 대한 인식이 수업 후 어떻게 변화하였는지 활동지 분석을 통해 결과를 도출하였다. 이를 통해 학생들이 산업혁명 시기를 거치면서 여성들의 권리가 신장되었음을 알고 그동안 생각하지 못했던 여성사에 대한 흥미와 당시 여성의 변화된 모습을 이해하였음을 활동지 분석을 통해 확인하였다. 또한 기존에 알고 있던 산업혁명을 다른 시각에서 바라봄으로써 보다 심화된 내용의 이해가 가능하였음을 확인하였다. 다만 시간적 제약으로 인해 좀 더 다양한 산업에 대한 깊이 있는 내용을 전하지 못한 것에 대한 한계가 있었다. 하지만 활동을 여러 차시로 나누어 수업한다면 충분히 온전한 산업혁명과 여성에 대해 심도 있는 이해를 이끌어 낼 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.;The Industrial Revolution is a subject dealt with importance in terms of world history as it was a turning point to modern society and it was the time to make revolutionary changes in society and economics with the invention of machinery and technology. Hence, many studies pay attention to the Industrial Revolution that initiated the development of capitalism and the resultant society changes, and these points are stressed in history education too. And the Industrial Revolution seen in terms of women's history was so important that it deeply influenced society that the scope of women's labor was expanded and new rights were sought. And the women's contribution and the changes from it are dealt with importance in recent women's history studies, however, the influences are not sufficiently described in the text book that students are studying, though the information on women appears in relation to the Revolution, that the importance is neglected at the moment. Therefore, the lessons that complemented such problems in women's history in the Industrial Revolution Age may enable students to have even better understanding of the women's history and even more complete understanding of the Industrial Revolution as well. In this study, pinpointing these problems, the lessons were designed to make high school students understand with interest women's history, in particular the women's history in the Industrial Revolution Age. For it having done the lessons with the investigation results that are related with the subject, the pictures that were prepared on the basis of the illustrations and work sheets that students can analyse and understand the contents, the possibility of applying this study to actual lessons was tested and the changes in students' understanding of women and the Industrial Revolution were traced by the analyses of work sheets. Through this it was confirmed by the analyses of the work sheets that students understood that women's rights were enhanced through the Industrial Revolution Age, that they had interest in women's history that they hadn't thought of and that they understood women's changed appearances. Additionally it was confirmed that even deeper understanding of the Industrial Revolution was possible by looking at it in different viewpoint. However, there was a limitation in delivering deep insight to various industries due to the limit in time. When they make lessons dividing the activities, deep understanding of the Industrial Revolution and women is expected to be obtained.
