다문화가정 유아의 또래간 상호작용 증진을 위한 음악극 프로그램 연구

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to examine the use of music play program to increase peer interaction of children from multicultural families. Five children from families of Korean parents and 5 children from multicultural families participated in the study. They were all recommended by teachers at the day-care centers to participate in the program since they displayed low interactions among them. Music play program was implemented for 12 sessions, which included playing instruments, singing, moving to the story, titled "Red Train Uncle and Forest Friends." To measure the changes in the interactive behavior, behavior check-list was used to record the event of the interactions, both musical and nonmusical. The results of this study were firstly, the interactive behaviors increased as they participated in the program. Their musical interactions which were instrument playing, singing and moving increased towards positive pattern and at the same time negative behavior such as throwing instruments, hitting, disruptive behaviors have decreased. Secondly, the result showed that the negative nonmusical behavior changed into positive behavior pattern as sessions progressed. The results of this study indicates that music play, which is combination of music and story, offered children the opportunities to cooperate with each other in music making with the story line. The program was also structure so that the children were each given a musical role in accordance with each other. Making music together with the story has allowed their negative expression sublimate into positive musical output. Therefore, this study indicates that music play program was effective in bringing better peer interaction among children from various cultural background.;현대사회는 국제화, 개방화라는 조류를 형성하고 있으며, 국제결혼, 이주 노동, 유학, 북한 탈북 등의 다양한 경로를 통해 우리 사회 또한 빠른 속도의 다문화사회로 변화하고 있다. 이에 따라 다문화가정이 늘어나고 있으며 다문화가정 유아 또한 증가하고 있다. 외국인 부모의 한국 문화 적응, 언어 능력, 그리고 사회적 ․경제적 지위 등의 여러 가지 이유로 다문화가정 유아들은 일반 가정 유아들과 상이한 성장과 발달을 겪으며, 가정을 제외한 최초의 사회적 기관인 유아교육기관에서의 또래와 상호작용에서 언어적·심리적인 어려움을 경험한다. 이러한 문제가 간과될 경우 학령기를 포함한 이후의 사회적 관계에 부적응을 보일 수 있으므로 지속적인 관찰과 함께 적극적인 지원이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 음악극 프로그램이 다문화가정 유아들의 또래간 상호작용 증진에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위한 연구 대상으로는 서울시에 소재하고 다문화가정 유아들을 통합하여 운영하는 A어린이집에 재원 중이며 교사로부터 상호작용 증진이 필요하다고 추천된 다문화가정 유아 5명과 일반가정 유아 5명, 총 10명을 대상으로 총 12회기의 음악극 프로그램을 실시하였다. ‘빨간 기차아저씨와 숲 속 친구들’이라는 제목의 음악극 프로그램은 유아들의 상호작용을 포함한 사회적 기술 습득을 목표로 하여 탐색, 음악극 계획 및 통합 활동, 음악극 실행 및 평가 단계로 나누어 단계적으로 제시하였다. 연구에 참여한 10명의 유아 중 연구 목적에 부합하는 다문화가정 유아 5명의 상호작용에 대한 변화를 알아보기 위해 첫째, 음악극 프로그램이 진행되는 동안 유아들의 상호작용 빈도수 측정을 위해 ‘유아-유아 상호작용 관찰표’를 사용하였으며, 둘째, 음악극 프로그램에서 보이는 유아들의 음악적·비음악적 상호작용 행동을 관찰하여 기록하였다. 수집 된 자료를 분석한 결과 유아들의 또래간 상호작용 빈도수가 증가하였다. 악기 연주, 노래, 동작 등의 활동에서 보이는 긍정적인 행동 양상은 증가하였으며, 또래 때리기, 방해하기 등의 부정적 행동양상은 감소하였다. 또한, 음악극 프로그램에서 보이는 유아들의 음악적·비음악적 상호작용은 음악극 프로그램이 진행됨에 따라 긍정적으로 변화한 것으로 나타났다. 위와 같은 결과는 음악과 이야기가 결합된 음악극이 유아들에게 또래들과 자연스럽게 협력하여 음악극을 완성하게 하는 기회를 제공하며, 규칙에 따라 맡게 된 역할을 수행함으로써 또래 관계에서 필요한 사회적 기술과 긍정적 상호작용을 촉진시켰음을 의미한다. 또한, 유아들의 부정적인 표현이 음악극을 완성하는 과정에서 음악적 산출물을 통해 긍정적인 표현이 되도록 유도했다는데 음악극 프로그램 의 의미가 있다. 따라서 음악극 프로그램은 다양한 문화적 배경을 지닌 유아들 간의 상호작용을 촉진시키는데 효과적인 중재 도구임을 시사한다고 볼 수 있다.
