As the number of Chinese international students in the Korea continues to rise, it is critical to understand their dietary behaviors changes and nutritional status. As part of the adaptation process of international students, the external influence upon their dietary behaviors is inevitable. The purpose of this study was to analyze the nutritional status of the Chinese female college students in Korea, and to investigate the changes in their dietary behavior after residing in Korea. The subjects were 114 Chinese female college students currently studying in Korea. For this study, general characteristics, daily nutrient and food intakes, dietary behaviors, and nutritional quality were investigated. This survey was implemented for Chinese students from May 2011 to March 2012. Food consumption was assessed using a 1-day 24-hour recall. We observed that most nutrients, namely calcium, iron, zinc, vitamin B2, vitamin C and folate consumption in the subjects is estimated to fall below the EAR for Korean population at 72%, 63.4%, 61.3%, 59.1%, 63.4%, 94.6, respectively. Moreover, the subjects pose a risk of deficiency in folate the most among all the other nutrients which turned out to be the lowest in NAR and INQ scores at 0.41±0.19 and 0.51±0.23, respectively. In the present study, dietary behavior scores comparing eating habits and other dietary patterns before and after residing in Korea were estimated by Chinese students. The behavior scores fell significantly after Chinese students immigrated to Korea (P<0.001). Increased frequency of meal skipping, less consumption of fruits and vegetables, irregular meal pattern, lower serving portion of meals, imbalanced diet, and increased consumption of coffee were observed to be just some of the significant changes among Chinese students before and after residing in Korea. According to changes in dietary behaviors, consumption of most nutrients including dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin B group, vitamin C and folate in the Worsened Group were significantly lower than the No Change Group (P<0.05). In conclusion, these results indicated that more unhealthy dietary behaviors were found in Chinese students after residing in Korea and Chinese students residing in Korea showed poor nutritional quality. A follow-up study is needed to assess the nutritional status of Chinese students using blood profile tests. These results would be used to plan a nutritional surveillance program for Chinese students.;본 연구는 최근 급증하고 있는 중국유학생 중 서울지역의 중국 여자유학생을 대상으로 이들의 영양섭취 상태를 평가하고 한국에 온 후의 식행동의 변화를 분석하고자 수행되었다.
