송병수 소설에 나타난 인물의 이중성 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 송병수 소설의 인물들에게서 부정적 특성과 긍정의 가능성이 나타나는 인물의 이중성을 고찰하고자 한다. 인물에게 나타나는 각각의 부정적인 특성들이 어떤 과정을 통해 극복되고, 긍정의 가능성을 담지하게 되는지를 살펴보고, 또한 긍정의 가능성에 대한 논의를 인물의 차원에서만 논의하지 않고 범주를 확장시켜 인물들이 모여 만들어내는 공동체적 특성도 함께 논의할 것이다. Ⅳ장에서는 상황에 따라 자신의 이익만을 고려하는 이기적 존재가 타인과 함께 살아가는 방법을 깨달아 나가는 과정을 살펴보고자 한다. 한국 전쟁은 우리나라에 서로 다른 이념을 추구하는 강대국들의 개입이라는 결과를 초래했다. 강대국들의 이념 대립은 전쟁이 끝난 후의 상황에서도 형태를 바꿔 존속되었으며, 이는 새로운 국가 건설의 단계에서 정치의 주도권을 쟁취하기 위한 여러 권력들의 충돌로 나타났다. 하나의 이념으로 구성되어왔던 사회는 다른 이념과의 충돌로 인해 구조적 균열을 경험할 수밖에 없는 상황에 직면하게 된다. 이러한 균열은 권력의 내부로 포함되지 못한 사람들을 권력의 경계 밖으로 내몰아간다. 사람들을 다스리고 통제하는 권력을 가진 주권 집단으로부터 배제되는 것이다. 권력 내부로부터의 배제는 또 다른 차원의 지배 영역으로의 포함을 의미한다. 그러나 역설적으로 이념의 충돌은 숨겨져 있던 사회의 구조적 모순들을 표면화시키며 그로 인한 균열은 이념에 의해 나눠진 경계를 초월하게 한다. 그리고 송병수는 자신의 소설에서 주권자에 의해서만 다스려지는 사회가 아닌 연대의식을 전제로 형성되는 공동체의 가능성을 보여준다. 송병수의 소설은 전쟁 상황과 새로운 정부 수립의 과도기적 단계에서 방향성을 상실하고 비극적인 삶의 구조에 함몰되어 가는 인물들을 통해 당시의 시대적 상황의 전형을 나타낸다. 그러나 송병수의 작품은 처참한 상황에서 수많은 사람들이 끊임없이 죽어갈 수밖에 없는 이야기를 담고 있는 작품이라고 해도, 그 안에 존재하는 인물들은 미약하게나마 ‘생에 대한 의지’를 담지하고 있으며, 그 의지가 자기 자신을 초월하여 타자에게까지 전이된다. 타자에 대한 이러한 초월이 확장된 의미의 가족, 다시 말해서 생물학적, 유전학적 의미의 혈연 가족을 넘어 서로 간의 애착을 중심으로 하는 대체 가족의 형성으로 구체화되고 있다는 점이 송병수 소설에서 발견될 수 있는 의의라 할 수 있을 것이다. 또한 범위를 넓혀 사회적 약자에게 관심을 갖고, 사회 구조의 모순을 밝혀내고 균열되어가는 사회 안에서 사람들이 연대 공동체를 생성해가는 과정에서 송병수 소설의 의의를 밝히고자 한다.;This study revealed dualism of character in Song, Byeung-Su novel.
