샛별 유치원 만 4세 유아들의 웃음에 대한 문화 기술적 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 샛별 유치원 만 4세 하늘반 유아들의 웃음에 대한 다면적이고 총체적인 이해를 위해 하루일과에서 나타나는 유아들의 웃음의 모습과 그러한 웃음이 유아들에게 가지는 의미와 역할을 밝히는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구목적에 따른 구체적인 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 1. 샛별 유치원 만 4세 하늘반 유아들의 하루일과에서의 웃음의 모습은 어떠한가? 2. 샛별 유치원 만 4세 하늘반 유아들의 웃음의 의미는 어떠한가? 3. 샛별 유치원 만 4세 하늘반 유아들의 웃음의 역할은 어떠한가? 본 연구의 대상은 경상남도에 위치하고 있는 샛별초등학교 병설 샛별유치원 만 4세 하늘반으로, 이 학급의 유아 19명과 담임교사가 연구에 참여하였다. 연구기간은 2009년 3월 11일부터 10월 8일까지였으며, 자료 수집은 총 45회의 참여관찰과 12회의 심층면담(교사 10회, 유아2회), 비디오 촬영 및 보이스 녹음, 사진 촬영과 문서 수집 등을 통해 이루어졌다. 참여관찰과 면담 내용은 현장 기록으로 작성하여 자료화 하였으며 수집된 자료는 범주화 하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 하늘반 유아들의 전형적인 하루일과는 등원 및 자유선택활동, 정리정돈, 아침 모임, 이야기 나누기, 대․소집단 활동, 점심식사 및 이 닦기, 자유선택활동 및 대․소집단 활동, 바깥놀이, 동화 듣기, 평가 및 귀가지도로 이루어지고 있었다. 그 과정에서 유아들은 긍․부정의 다양한 웃음을 드러내고 있었는데 비교적 자유선택활동시간과 전이시간 등 교사의 지도나 통제가 최소화되는 시간에 웃음을 활발하게 표출하였다. 특히 전이시간에는 몸의 움직임이나 금기시 되는 장난을 통한 웃음이 활발하게 시도되었다. 또한 집단 활동에서는 규칙을 준수하면서 그것을 뒤틀며 웃음을 드러내고 바깥놀이에서는 신체적 자유와 해방을 만끽하며 웃고 있었다. 교사는 하루일과의 원활한 흐름을 위해 유아들의 웃음을 제한하고 통제하면서도 유아들의 웃음을 놓치지 않고 지원하려고 노력하기도 했다. 더 나아가, 의도적으로 유아들의 웃음을 자극하며 유아들이 보다 즐겁게 생활할 수 있도록 배려하고 있었다. 둘째, 하늘반 유아들의 웃음의 모습에서 도출된 웃음의 의미는 우정의 표현, 상상의 즐거움, 성취의 만족, 발견의 기쁨, 일탈의 재미, 몸 장난의 재미로서의 의미를 드러내었다. 이러한 의미들은 유아들의 웃음이 가지는 독특한 특성이면서 동시에 웃음의 일반적 특성이기도 했다. 하늘반 유아들의 웃음은 서로에 대한 다정함과 친밀함을 표현하는 것으로써 우정을 표현하는 것이었으며, 상상 속에서 사고의 자유로움을 만끽하는 지적 희열인 상상의 즐거움을 의미하였다. 또한 다양한 시도와 노력에 대한 성취의 만족, 무한한 호기심으로 새롭고 다양한 것을 체험할 때 느끼는 발견의 기쁨을 드러내는 것이었다. 다양한 규범과 관습, 규제와 통제에 대한 일탈의 재미와 몸을 통한 다양한 익살을 시도하는데서 드러나는 몸 장난의 재미를 의미하였다. 셋째, 하늘반 유아들의 웃음의 역할은 원만한 관계형성, 창의력 증진, 자발적 학습유도, 긍정적 정서발달과 유머감각 발달을 돕는 것이었다. 이러한 웃음의 역할은 유아의 학습과 발달을 지원하는 것으로써 유아에게 웃음이 가지는 긍정적 의미를 드러내는 것이었다. 하늘반 유아들에게 웃음은 유아들의 원만한 관계형성을 지원하고 돕는 것이었으며 이는 하늘반 교사에 의해 더욱 지지되고 격려되었다. 또한 웃음은 유아들이 다양한 변형과 부조화의 창조, 몰입의 경험을 통해 유아들의 창의력을 증진시키는 것이었다. 웃을 때 유아들은 지속적인 반복을 시도하고 자발적 동기를 가지고 스스로 개입하며, 활발한 상호작용을 이어감으로써 웃음은 유아들의 자발적 학습을 지원하고 있었다. 웃음은 또한 유아들에게 부정적 정서를 해소하여 긍정적 정서발달을 도울 뿐 아니라 점차적으로 다면적인 측면에서 인간의 주요한 능력으로 부각되고 있는 유머감각을 발달시키고 있었다.;This thesis aims to reveal the meanings and roles of the laughter by the 4-year-old Children of the Sky Class in Saetbyeol Kindergarten located in Gyeongsangnam-do. The researcher wants to generally understand their multiple-faced laughter in their daily life. The concrete topics under this objective were as follows: 1. What are the looks of the daily laughter by the 4-year-old Children of the Sky Class in Saetbyeol Kindergarten? 2. What are the meanings of the laughter by the 4-year-old Children of the Sky Class in Saetbyeol Kindergarten? 3. What are the roles of the laughter by the 4-year-old Children of the Sky Class in Saetbyeol Kindergarten? The subjects of this study were 19 children (past 4 years in full age) and their homeroom teacher of the Sky Class in Saetbyeol Kindergarten (attached to Saetbyeol Elementary School) located in Gyeongsangnam-do. The research period was from March 11 through October 8, 2009. Data was collected through 45 participatory observation, 12 in-depth interviews (10: teacher, 2: kids), video taping, voice recording, photographing, and documentary collection. The contents of observation and interviews were recorded on the spot and all the collected data were categorically analyzed. The findings of this research are as follows: 1. The typical daily routines of the children were coming to kindergarten, free-choice activities, arrangement, a morning meeting, sharing talks, big-small group activities, lunch, tooth brushing, free-choice activities, big-small group activities, playing outside, listening to children's stories, evaluation, and going back home. The children expressed diverse laughter positively and negatively, especially during the hours of free-choice activities and activity change when the teacher's control is minimal. In particular, at the time of activity change, physical movement and usually-prohibited tricks were made to cause laughter. In addition, they were laughing while abiding by the rules in group activities and enjoying physical freedom in playing outside. The teacher in charge was limiting and controlling their laughter for the smooth flow of daily routines. At the same time, she was supporting and triggering their laughter for their fun and happy life at kindergarten. 2. The meanings of their laughter were the expression of friendship, joy of imagination, satisfaction of accomplishment, pleasure of discovery, fun of deviation, and interest of physical tricks. These meanings were both typical to children's laughter and general in common laughter. The children of the Sky Class expressed their good-hearted friendship to each other and their intellectual joy of free imagination. Also, their laughter displayed the satisfaction of various trials and accomplishment, the joy of discoveries and new experiences through unlimited curiosity, the fun of divergences from various restrictions and controls, and the interest of bodily jokes and tricks. 3. The roles of their laughter were composing favorable relationships, increasing creativity, encouraging spontaneous learning, helping positive emotional development, and boosting the sense of humor. These roles were, in short, positively assisting the kids in their learning and development. Laughter to them was helping their good relations, which were supported by the teacher of the Sky Class. Additionally, laughter helped them improve creativity through the experiences of diverse transformation, disharmonious creation, and immersion. The children were laughing to result in voluntary learning through repetition and active interactions. What's more, laughter helped the kids positively develop emotions and the sense of humor, gradually regarded as one of main human competence these days.
