혼란의 세상, 그 착각들

Abstract

This age which we are living has combined and separated due to the advancement of new techniques and popular mediums. Many people cannot follow the developmental speed of society because the advancement of techniques and knowledge is very fast. Therefore, society has come confused. It brings about confusion in the values of society and this creates misunderstandings for many people. People then make judgments based on these misunderstandings. Immediate judgment from people occurs with many errors regardless of various situations. The prejudice originates from fixed ideas, and the error originates the object which is judged. People who follow the majority adopt that group’s opinions at the cost of losing their own values. Not only will following the opinions of the majority bring errors in judgment, but so too will following the opinions of the privileged groups. Therefore, the opinions of the majority and of the privileged groups will highly affect one’s own opinions. As the exposure of the mass repeats, people thoughtlessly follow exposed images. They are unaware of this influence because of frequent contact with the mass. It is hard to protect one’s own existence without certain definite and established values. However, there are some people with their own beliefs, People who care about the safety of their own values. These are the people who save other people in need. For instance, people who take the initiative in organ donation to save a human's life. In other words, these are the people who point out the absurdity of society. These people are like heroes unlike the above-mentioned. The researcher clearly expresses a human's misunderstandings, mistakes and influences through the works. To express people who change according to the gaze and behaviors of others, the following techniques are used in two of these works: Silk screening on the acrylic panel to describe these people; and plaster casting to show people in the meeting room who are forced to agree inconveniently. Some Techniques that are used to describe people lacking independence are as following: plaster printings to show three women walking on the street without beliefs; and video clipping to show these types of people. Following techniques are used to describe people who judge others carelessly because of stereotypes and prejudices: a portrait of a middle-aged gentleman; images of a woman who looks up and down people and momentarily judges them in a coffee shop; and a lenticular technique which makes the whites and blacks look differently depending on light. People can look back on errors of idea and behavior and meditate on their own values and beliefs. Then, they can have the ability to think like a hero and do great, original things; heroes will be common. The world is not really beautiful but it can be changed. If people think the world is beautiful, it will be beautiful. A person's behavior is influenced according to another person and the environment. I have researched this study hoping to spread the good influence through the world.;우리가 살고 있는 이 시대는 새로운 기술과 대중매체의 발달로 인해 시간과 공간의 제약에 구애받지 않고 자유로워졌다. 과학기술과 공학의 발전 속도가 빨라지면서 사회가 급속하게 변화하는 것을 사람이 따라갈 수 없게 되어 사회구성원으로서 사람은 더욱 혼란을 느낀다. 이러한 혼란은 사람들의 가치관 혼란을 초래하고, 사람들의 가치관 혼란은 잘못된 판단을 할 만한 착각을 일으키게 된다. 사람들은 그 착각들에 따라서 상황에 따라 다른 판단을 한다. 사람들의 즉각적인 판단은 여러 상황을 고려하지 않아 많은 오류들로 나타난다. 고정관념으로 인해서 선입견이 생겨나게 되고, 그로인한 차별이 생기게 되어, 대상을 판단할 때 오류를 범하게 되는 것이다. 또한 사람들은 다수의 사람들이 하려고 하는 것을 따라 자신의 가치관이 무엇인지 어떠한지의 중심을 잃고 동조한다. 다수의 의견에 무조건 동조하는 것 뿐만 아니라, 어떠한 집단에서의 기득권자에게 맹종하는 것 역시 판단의 오류를 가져올 수 있다. 다수의 의견, 기득권자 등 실질적으로 우리의 의견에 영향을 주는 존재외에도 자신이 느끼지도 못하는 사이에 설득 당하게 되는 매스컴의 영향도 또한 크게 작용하게 된다. 대중매체의 노출이 반복되어지면서 사람들은 노출된 이미지들을 무분별하게 따라가게 되었다. 이것은 많이 접함으로서 익숙해지고 자신도 모르는 사이에 세뇌를 당하는 것인데, 이러한 문제 또한 자신의 뚜렷한 소신과 확립된 가치관 없이는 자신의 존재를 지키기 힘든 것이다. 하지만, 이 세상에는 자신만의 소신으로 세상을 살아가는 사람들 또한 존재한다. 자신의 안위를 먼저 걱정하거나 남의 시선을 의식하지 않고, 위급한 순간에 놓인 사람들을 구하는 사람들도 있다. 많은 사람들의 생명을 구하기 위해 장기이식에 앞장선 사람도 있으며, 사회적 압력에 굴하지 않고 정의를 위해 사회의 부조리를 고발하는 사람들도 있다. 이 사람들은 앞서 언급한 내용들과는 별개인 마치 영웅과도 같은 존재인 것이다. 연구자는 앞서 본 내용처럼 이 세상을 살아가고 있는 사람들이 하는 판단에 대한 착각과 오류, 영향들을 작품으로 나타내었다 먼저 타인의 시선과 행동에 따라 변하는 사람들을 표현하기 위해, 이 작품을 보는 사람들이 위축될 만한 다수의 강한 시선을 아크릴판에 실크스크린으로 나타내었으며, 회의실 안의 사람들이 어쩔 수 없이 불편한 동조를 하는 모습을 석고 캐스팅으로 나타내었다. 또한, 뚜렷한 소신 없이 길거리를 걸어가는 세 명의 여인들을 비닐에 프린팅하고, 일상과 꼭두각시를 매치시킨 영상으로써 조직사회 안에서 주체성 없이 움직이는 사람들을 표현했다. 마지막으로는 고정관념과 선입견으로 인해 섣부른 판단을 하는 사람들을 표현하기 위해, 인자한 미소를 띠고 있지만 전자발찌를 차고 있는 중년신사의 초상화와, 커피숍에서 다른 사람들을 훑어보고 있는 한 여인의 영상, 그리고 빛에 따라 흑인과 백인이 다르게 보이는 변환 렌티큘러 기법을 이용한 작품을 제작하였다. 연구자는 사람들이 이러한 작품들을 접함으로써 자신이 과거에 했던 생각 및 행동의 오류를 돌아보고, 가치관과 소신을 되새겨보는 계기를 마련하고자 하였다. 궁극적으로 이 세상을 살아가는 ‘영웅’ 들은 특별한 사람이 아니라 우리 자신 스스로가 생각을 바꾸면 나타나는 아주 ‘평범한’ 사람이라는 점이라는 것이다. 한 사람의 행동이 다른 사람의 행동에 지대한 영향을 줄 수 있듯이 사람들의 좋은 에너지가 무한하게 뻗어나가길 바라며 이 연구를 하였다.
