결혼이주여성을 대상으로 한 알기 쉬운 통신문 작성을 위한 텍스트 수정 연구

Abstract

텍스트의 수정에는 실제 텍스트를 언어적 입력 수정을 통해 비모어 화자가 쉽게 이해할 수 있게 어휘와 문법구조를 단순하게 바꾸는 단순화(simplification) 와 텍스트 내에서 사용된 어려운 어휘를 그대로 사용하면서 반복, 바꿔 쓰기 및 동격 관계의 사용을 통해 담화에 잉여성(redundancy)을 더하는 상세화(elaboration)하는 방법이 있다. 본 연구에서는 한국어가 서툰 이주여성들도 이해할 수 있게 알기 쉬운 통신문을 작성하기 위한 텍스트의 수정에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 다음과 같은 연구 문제를 설정하였다. 첫째, 한국어 교사들은 어떠한 텍스트 수정 방법을 선호하는가? 둘째, 학교 통신문의 텍스트 수정방법에는 어떠한 것들이 있는가? 셋째, 학교 통신문의 텍스트 수정이 통신문 읽기 이해에 유의미한 영향을 미칠 것인가? 본 연구는 39명의 한국어 교사를 대상으로 하나의 통신문 텍스트를 대상으로 문장과 어휘를 중심으로 각각을 단순화(simplification)와 상세화(elaboration)의 방법으로 수정한 텍스트의 선호도 조사를 실시하고 텍스트 수정에 대해 세분화된 수정 방법들에 대한 교사들의 자기 진단 형식의 설문을 실시하였다. 이러한 결과와 그 동안의 텍스트 수정에 대한 연구들을 바탕으로 학교 통신문의 텍스트 수정방안을 제시하였다. 그 다음으로 텍스트 수정이 이주여성들의 통신문의 읽기 이해에 영향을 미치는 가를 알아보기 위해 총 32명의 이주여성을 대상으로 하여 텍스트의 수정 전, 수정 후의 읽기 능력 실험을 실시였으며 실험 후 텍스트의 효과에 대해 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 이상의 실험을 통하여 나타난 결과에서 수정된 텍스트를 대상으로 한 실험 점수가 유의미하게 높게 나타났다. 또한 실험 후 실시한 인터뷰를 통해서도 텍스트의 수정이 통신문의 읽기 이해에 도움을 준다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과에 따르면 알기 쉬운 통신문을 위해 텍스트의 수정을 통해 한국어가 서툰 이주여성들이 학교통신문을 쉽게 이해함으로 인해 부모로서 효능감을 높일 수 있으며, 통신문 작성자들도 이를 바탕으로 통신문 작성시 이러한 텍스트의 수정을 활용한다면 보다 적극적으로 이주여성들의 적극적인 참여를 유도할 수 있을 것이다.;The method of text corrections include simplification and elaboration. The former means to change or simplify the vocabularies and grammatical structure using a verbal correction to help the nonnative speaker understand the text easily. Meanwhile, the latter means to add redundancy to the conversation using such an appositional relationship as repetition and rewriting while using the difficult vocabularies used in the text. This study focused on text corrections to write an easy correspondence for female immigrants whose Korean proficiency is low. The study subjects were set up for the study as below: Firstly, what kind of text corrections do Korean teachers prefer? Secondly, what are the methods of text corrections of school correspondence? Finally, will text corrections of the school correspondence have a significant influence on the reading and understanding of the correspondence? This study conducted a preference survey of a text in a correspondence of which sentences and vocabularies were corrected using simplification and elaboration respectively in 39 Korean teachers. A self-examination survey of teachers on subdivided correction methods for text corrections was also conducted. Next, to identify if text corrections have an influence on the understanding of the school correspondence by the female immigrants, reading competence before and after corrections was examined in 32 female immigrants together with having an interview on the effect of the text after the experiment. The findings were shown as below: Firstly, Korean teachers preferred overall simplification to lessen the burden of reading, while they preferred elaboration for clear delivery of understanding with respect to the information delivery. Secondly, the methods of corrections of the school correspondence regardless of simplification and elaboration suggested the methods of text corrections for the school correspondence based on the preference of text corrections and the outcome of self-examination in Korean teachers, and previous studies on text corrections. Lastly, the findings of reading and understanding of the school correspondence in female immigrants showed significantly higher scores in the corrected text than the non-corrected one. The post-experimental interview also showed that the corrected text helped reading and understanding of the school correspondence. Taken together, this study suggests textual correction of the school correspondence to be easily read and understood by the female immigrants. The female immigrants want to have a higher sense of self-efficacy as parents based on more information from school. If the people preparing the correspondence utilizes the text corrections taking these factors into account during the process, they can enhance the understanding of the female immigrants.
