Abstract
(Degree of Difficulty Index for Children's Songs)' 를 사용하여 난이도를 분석하였다. The purpose of this study is to analyze the degree of difficulty in melody and lyrics of children's songs which preferred in Korean child care and education institutions and to provide a guideline for early childhood teachers to select an appropriate level of children's song according to the children's age. The research is mainly focused on the following two questions. 1. What is the degree of difficulty in melody factors(vocal range, interval, rhythm, form and length) of children's songs which preferred in Korean child care and education institutions? 2. What is the degree of difficulty in lyrics factors(a form of storytelling, number of vocabulary) of children's songs which preferred in Korean child care and education institutions? This research analyzed 99 children's songs which preferred in Korean child care and education institutions for recent 10 years, based on the researches conducted in 2000s. The 99 children's songs were chosen by more than two researches. The 99 children's songs were analyzed by using Kim's DDICS (Degree of Difficulty Index for Children's Songs). To analyze the degree of difficulty of children's songs, this research has conducted in two parts: the degree of difficulty in melody and the degree of difficulty in lyrics. The results of the study were as follows: 1. The degree of difficulty in melody of children's songs were slightly low because over eighty percents songs indicated Ⅱ, Ⅲ degree of difficulty in melody. In detail, the degree of difficulty in melody can be measured by analyzing four factors: vocal range, interval, rhythm, form and length. In vocal range, 73% of the songs indicated Ⅳ degree of difficulty, which was in b-d″vocal range. In interval, 65% of the songs indicated Ⅱ, Ⅲ degree of difficulty, which was in 4-5 intervals. In rhythm, 93% of the songs indicated Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ degree of difficulty, which was composed of one beat, half beat, dotted half beat rhythm. In melody form and length, over 80% of the songs indicated Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ degree of difficulty, which was in two periods. Overall, the degree of difficulty in vocal range was high, but the degree of difficulty in interval, rhythm, form and length was somewhat low. 2. The degree of difficulty in lyrics of children's songs were slightly high, because over 75% of the songs indicated Ⅲ, Ⅳ degree of difficulty in lyrics. In detail, the degree of difficulty in melody can be measured by analyzing two factors: a form of storytelling, number of vocabulary. In aspect of a form of storytelling, almost half of the songs indicated Ⅲ degree of difficulty and over 30% of the songs were in Ⅳ, Ⅴ degree of difficulty. In number of vocabulary, almost 70% of the songs indicated Ⅱ, Ⅲ degree of difficulty. In summary, the degree of difficulty in a form of storytelling was somewhat high, but the degree of difficulty in vocabulary number was normal. Taken together, more than half of korean favorite songs were Ⅲ degree of difficulty, and the number of songs in lower degree of difficulty were slightly more than the number of songs in higher degree of difficulty. However, Ⅰdegree of difficulty song didn't appear, so it is necessary to compose more songs for younger children.
