원근법을 활용한 그림책

Abstract

The purpose of this research is helping children to perceive the spatial concept with picture books utilized the perspective and one step further, to do dimensional thinking. However, if we look for books regarding spatial concept perception for children, there are only a few of books which can help children to perceive spatial concept, rather there are books regarding mathematical space perception which utilized diagrams or 3-D shapes. Therefore, this research would like to lead children to perceive spatial concept with picture books in perspective. In the cognitive development of children, the development of space perception is a critical factor to recognize a spatial concept. Doing a dimensional thinking is a very important part of children’s education, as Francis Galton, who is a eugenicist in the end of 19th century, said:”Nevertheless, mentally reconstructing goods in the space can leave the best educational achievements, if it is successful, but it is left alone in the negligence of educationist and keeping in the dead storage.” The meaning of space perception here is ability perceiving and distinguishing certain stimulus from the space and also is ability interpreting the stimulus by consolidating with previous experiences. In other words, space perception is an ability which is able to solve certain problems and it is a necessary one for every kind of learning. In the Cognitive Development of children regarding space perception, it is a Concrete Operational Period from 7 years old to 11. For special features during this period, children are full of curiosity and their vision to observe is limited to concrete accidents or certain kinds of goods. And also the dimensional thinking about the space perception related on it is still immature. Therefore, there are several reasons to select children aged 8 to 10 as a research object: first, it is a period of activated phase of Concrete Operational Period. Second, children at that age are full of curiosity. Third, the subjects observed by those children are limited in this period. Finally, it is still immature period to have dimensional thinking for those children who are still not reached to the level to have abstract and complicated thinking. In order to improve the space perception for dimensional thinking, perceiving spatial concept is important for children. Therefore, perspective becomes an important factor to understand spatial concept. Perspective is a spatial concept which helps to perceive whether a good is near or far from them and to perceive whether the good is big or small according to the distance. Under the hypothesis that 8-10 aged children can understand spatial concept by stimulating curiosity and feeling interests with the picture books utilized perspective, rather than studying books, it recommends a picture book for space perception development utilized perspective for the dimensional thinking of children. This research is supported by Literature research regarding the improvement of space perception for children’s dimensional thinking, and qualitative research which presents the picture book, that was produced by utilizing the spatial concept of perspective, to the 8-10 aged children and conducts tests whether they perceive the perspective or not. Through this research, we expect that 8-10 aged children understand the spatial concept with the picture book for space perception development and do dimensional thinking, and furthermore, improve the abilities to solve problems in studying and also in daily lives.;본 연구의 목적은 원근법을 이용한 그림책으로 어린이가 공간개념을 인지하여 차원적 사고를 할 수 있게 하는 것이다. 그러나 현실에서 어린이에게 공간개념 인지를 위한 책을 살펴보면 도형이나 입체 형태를 활용한 수학적인 공간 지각력에 대한 책은 있으나 그림책으로 어린이에게 공간개념을 인지할 수 있게 하는 책은 많지 않았다. 그래서 본 논문은 어린이에게 원근법을 활용한 그림책으로 공간개념을 인지할 수 있게 하겠다. 어린이의 인지 발달에서 보면 공간 지각력의 발달은 공간개념을 인지하기 위한 중요한 요소이다. 19세기 후반 우생학자인 프랜시스 캘턴(Francis Galton)은 "공간내의 사물을 정신적으로 재구성 하는 일은 잘만하면 최고의 교육적 성과를 낳을 수 있다" 라고 말한 것처럼 차원적 사고를 하는 것은 어린이에게 있어서 중요한 교육의 한 부분인 것이다. 여기서 차원적 사고의 한 요소인 공간 지각력이란 공간으로부터 어떤 자극을 인식하고 구별하는 능력과 그런 자극을 앞선 경험과 연결하여 그 자극을 해석하는 능력이다. 즉 어떠한 문제에 있어서 해결 할 수 있는 능력이고 공간 지각력은 어린이에게 모든 종류의 학습에 필수적인 것이다. 공간 지각력에 대한 아동의 인지발달에서 보면 7세에서 11세를 구체적 조작기라고 하는데 이 시기 특징을 보면 호기심이 왕성한 시기이고, 관찰 가능한 시야가 구체적 사건이나 어떠한 사물에 대해 한정되어 있다. 또한 이것에 관련 된 공간개념에 관한 차원적 사고가 미숙한 시기이다. 그래서 본 연구는 8~10세 어린이를 연구대상으로 하는데 그 이유는 첫 번째 구체적 조작기의 활성화된 단계, 두 번째 호기심이 왕성한 시기이고, 세 번째 관찰하는 대상이 한정되어 있는 시기, 네 번째 추상적이거나 복잡한 수준에 도달하지 못하여 차원적 사고를 하기에는 미숙한 시기이기 때문이다. 따라서 구체적 조작기인 어린이가 차원적 사고를 위한 공간 지각력이 향상되기 위해서는 공간 개념을 인지하는 것이 중요하다. 그러므로 공간 개념을 인지하는 데 있어서 원근법은 중요한 요소가 된다. 원근법은 어떠한 사물이 멀고 가까운지, 거리에 따른 그 사물이 크고 작은지에 대해서 인지 할 수 있게 하는 공간개념이다. 8~10세의 어린이가 교과학습이 아닌 원근법을 활용한 그림책으로 어린이에게 재미를 주고 호기심을 자극하여 공간개념을 인지한다는 가정 하에 어린이의 차원적 사고를 위해 원근법을 활용한 공간 지각력개발 그림책을 제안한다. 본 논문은 어린이의 차원적 사고를 위한 공간 지각력 향상을 위한 문헌연구와 함께 공간 개념인 원근법의 특징을 활용하여 그림책을 제작하고, 질적 조사로써 8~10세에게 그림책을 보여준 뒤 원근법에 대해 인지하는지에 대한 테스트를 해서 본 논문을 뒷받침했다. 따라서 앞으로 본 논문으로 인해서 8~10세 어린이가 공간 지각력개발 그림책을 보고 공간 개념을 인지하고 차원적 사고를 함으로써 교과를 공부하거나 일상생활에서의 문제 해결 능력이 향상되는 것을 기대한다.
