다중시공간多重時空間의 조합을 활용한 일러스트레이션 표현연구

Abstract

어린 시절 우리는 이상한 나라의 앨리스나 오즈의 마법사의 주인공이 되어 본 적이 있을 것이다. 사람들은 현실에서 일어나지 않을 법한 판타지 세계 속에서 상상의 날개를 무한하게 펼치며 현실세계에 대한 대리만족과 카타르시스를 경험하고 즐거움을 느낀다. 티어먼(Timmerman)은 판타지의 세계는 우리의 현실세계와 잘 맞으며 오히려 실재 세계에서 확실히 보지 못한 것을 더 통합적이며 분명하게 드러낸다고 한 바 있다. 우리는 판타지 문학을 통해서 풍부한 상상력을 키울 수 있으며 현실의 세계를 새로운 시각으로 바라볼 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 판타지 동화를 표현하는 일러스트레이션에 있어서 판타지 세계의 복잡한 시간성과 공간성을 표현하고자 하였으며, 특히 이러한 시간성과 공간성의 관계를 표현하기 위해서는 새로운 방법이 필요하다고 생각하고 다중시공간을 조형적으로 구성한 일러스트레이션을 표현하였다. 본 논문의 1장 서론에서는 다양한 시간과 공간을 넘나드는 복잡한 시공간을 배경으로 하는 판타지 동화를 표현하기 위한 일러스트레이션의 새로운 표현방법에 대한 필요성을 설명하고 그 범위와 방법에 대해 기술하였다. Ⅱ장 본론에서는 첫째, 판타지 동화의 개념과 특성에 대해 시공간적 측면에서 알아보고 둘째, 이러한 판타지 동화를 표현하기 위하여 다중시공간의 개념을 살펴본 후 미술사적 고찰을 통하여 다중시공간의 개념을 선행하여 사용했던 작가를 분석하고 시각적인 조형성에 대해 연구하였다. 셋째, 기존 그림책 일러스트레이션의 작가별 작품 사례 연구를 통해 다중시공간이 일러스트레이션에서 어떻게 구성되고 표현되었는지 살펴보고 넷째, 판타지 동화 중 한 작품을 선정하여 이 작품에서 나타나는 다중시공간을 중심으로 내용을 분석해보았다. 마지막으로 Ⅲ장 작품제작 및 분석에서는 본론에서 분석한 판타지 동화의 다중시공간을 중심으로 동화의 내용을 표현해 보았다. 이러한 과정은 본 연구자가 지금까지 작업해온 작품의 표현방법과 의미에 대해 이론적으로 정리하고 분석하여 더욱 발전된 작업을 하는 계기를 마련하고자 함이다.;People imagined themselves as main characters in storybooks, such as Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and the Wizard of Oz, in their childhood. They were lost in a reverie and experienced a vicarious pleasure and catharsis. John H. Timmerman said that the fantasy world was tied to reality and clearly revealed something hidden in the present situation. Fantasy literature stimulates imagination and helps us have a new view of the real world. In this study, complicated times and spaces in a fantasy world are expressed in a story book through illustrations. Especially, multiple spaces and times are illustrated for modelling in order to show a new method to show the relationship between space and time. In the first chapter of my thesis, the need for new methods of illustration to express various times and spaces in fantastic storybooks are explained and their scopes and ways to illustrate fantasy stories are described. The second chapter is divided into four parts. First, the concept and characteristics of storybooks regarding spaces and times are delineated. Second, artists who used the complicated times and spaces in art history are analyzed, and visual modelling is studied after the concepts of multiple times and spaces for fantastic stories are defined. Third, it is explained how illustrators' works in children's books are composed and expressed for various times and spaces of fantasy worlds. Fourth, a selected fantastic storybook is analyzed in terms of its multiple times and spaces. In the third chapter tilted Drawing Illustrations and Their Analysis, the contents of a fantastic storybook are illustrated to express various times and spaces well according to methods described in the second chapter. In such a process, the expression techniques and meanings of my past illustrations are analyzed in a theoretical way in order to ultimately improve my works.
