전각의 조형성을 응용한 Nuno felt 소재표현

Abstract

21세기는 문화의 우위가 없이 자국의 문화가치가 중요한 글로컬리즘(Glocalism)의 시대로 지금 세계는 각 민족문화의 정체성을 표현하는 지역문화에 주목하고 있다. 또한 현대사회는 기술과 정보의 다양성, 다문화의 급격한 발전 속도로 인해 유행 주기가 점점 빨라지고 있고 이런 시점에서 우리는 문화적 경쟁력을 확보하기 위하여 서양과는 차별화된 우리 한국의 전통문화와 동양의 사상을 디자인에 불어넣어 줄 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 우리 문화 중 동양의 순수예술인 전각에서 활용된 전서(篆書)의 풍부한 조형성, 예술성, 회화성을 살리고 전통의 현대적 표현에 관심을 갖는 오늘날의 문화적 흐름을 수용하여 차별화된 텍스타일 디자인에의 실제적 접근에 목적을 두었다. 최근에는 환경오염이 심각해지고 여러 가지 화학적인 약품으로 인해 각종 질병이 발생함에 따라 친환경적인 생활로 건강을 추구하려는 움직임이 전 세계에 불고 있다. 환경오염에 대한 자각과 건강한 삶에 대한 욕구는 의류의 소재에까지도 직접적으로 반영하여 친환경적 섬유 및 의류의 개발과 소비가 증가하고 있다. 이에 본 연구자는 자연섬유를 선택하여 자연친화적인 섬유소재 개발과 전각의 조형적인 이미지를 모티브로 한 새로운 디자인의 적절한 혼합으로 소비자의 감성에 부응하고 부가가치가 있는 친환경섬유소재를 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이러한 목적을 위한 연구의 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 문헌적 조사를 통해 전각의 조형성과 현대사회에서의 전각예술을 알아보고, 문양으로서 전각이미지의 다양한 표현, 응용된 사례와 그 방법을 알아본다. 둘째, 친환경 섬유소재의 중요성과 누노펠트의 표현가능성을 연구한다. 셋째, 자카드 실크와의 복합소재 표현기법을 중심으로 전각의 모티브를 다양하게 활용한 실용디자인 작품을 제작한다. 이러한 연구과정을 통하여 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 섬유패브릭의 모티브로써 전각의 형태는 간결하고 명확한 이미지를 전달하는 요소로 현대적이고 독창적인 다양한 활용가능성과 형태간의 조합과 구성을 통해 표현영역의 확대를 가능케 하며, 작가의 창조적 의도에 따라 무한한 디자인 개발이 가능하고 디자이너에게 끊임없는 창조적 영감을 주는 모티브임을 확인하였다. 둘째, 양모를 컷 아웃 기법으로 컷팅한 모티브의 표현이 새로운 시각적인 패턴을 창출하였다. 셋째, 양모와 실크로 제작된 복합소재는 자연섬유의 다양한 개발과 친환경적 섬유소재 개발의 가능성을 제시하였다. 이러한 결론을 통하여 볼 때 디자인의 경쟁력을 확보하기 위해서는 각 국가의 문화적 이미지를 지속적으로 발전시키는 것이 현 시점에서 매우 중요한 작업이라 사료되며 이를 위해 역사와 문화를 반영하는 전통문양에 대한 다각적인 연구가 바탕이 되어야 하기에, 본연구의 단점을 보안한 좀 더 심도 있는 연구가 지속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이며, 인류의 과제인 환경오염에 대응할 만한 친환경적인 소재를 제시함으로서 자연섬유소재 개발에 대한 발전 가능성을 기대할 수 있다고 본다. 또한 전각의 조형성을 응용한 새로운 텍스처 표현연구는 동양의 고유미를 새로운 소재와 패턴디자인을 통해 현대적인 접근과 동시에 그이미지를 폭넓게 제시하여 새로운 디자인을 창출시키는데 조금이나마 기여하고자 한다.;The 21st Century is the era of Glocalism where every nation's cultural value is respected. The world today is concentrating on regional cultures that express each culture's identity. Also, the cycle of trends is becoming faster with the rapid development of diverse, multi-cultural technologies and information. In this respect, it is necessary for Korea to inject Korean traditional culture and oriental ideologies that are distinguished from western cultures and ideologies into our designs to secure our cultural competence. The purpose of this study was to revive the unique figurative, artistic, and picturesque characters of seal characters in seal engravings, which are unique to oriental cultures, and to accept today's cultural trends to focus on modern interpretation of traditions to create unique textile designs. Because of serious environmental pollution and the use of various chemicals that cause illnesses, the world is interested in pursuing health and wellbeing through eco-friendly lifestyles. The awareness of environmental pollution and the desire for healthy living have been reflected on the materials for wardrobes to encourage development and consumption of eco-friendly fibers and wardrobes. To that extent, I decided to choose a natural fiber to develop a type of nature-friendly textile and combine it with a new design that is inspired by the figurative images of seal engravings to suggest a textile material with distinguished artistic value, workability, and usability. This textile material will be visually luxurious and natural, tactually soft and warm, and have unique textures of irregularity and furry in surface effect to satisfy consumers' desires for personality and special preferences. The following steps were taken for this purpose: First, literatures were examined to discuss figurative characters of seal engravings and the creations of seal engravings today. Also, various expressions, applications, and methodologies of seal engravings as patterns were examined. Second, the importance of eco-friendly fibers and the potential use of Nuno felt were studied. Third, the motifs of seal engravings were rearranged based on the expression of compound materials with silk and applied to actual designs. The following summarizes the findings of this study: First, it was found that the images of seal engravings can serve as motifs for fabrics because they communicate precise and clear images. They could be used in various modern and unique applications and combined with other shapes to expand the scope of expression as motifs that can be infinitely developed by creative artists and that give endless creative inspirations to designers. Second, a completely new visual pattern was created by applying the cut-out technique to wool. Third, the compound material created with two types of fiber - wool and silk - suggested the possibility to develop various natural fibers and eco-friendly materials. Based on these findings, I concluded that it would be very important to develop the traditional patterns of Korea in order to create competitive designs that we can present to the world and that multifaceted research of traditional patterns that reflect Korean history and culture would be essential in order to do so. Therefore, further studies should be conducted to expand this study and to develop various eco-friendly natural fibers that prevents environmental pollution. Also, this study on creating new designs using the figurative images of seal engravings would contribute to modernizing and globalizing Korean traditional aesthetics with new materials and pattern designs and creating new designs by broadening the use of existing images.
