조선후기 봉산탈춤에 나타난 사회적 특성에 관한 연구

Abstract

인간은 사회 속에서 갈등과 대립, 질서와 평화를 통한 공동체적 삶을 살아가는 주체이며 이러한 공동체적 삶을 통하여 스스로를 완성해 나아가는 존재이다. 이러한 공동체사회 속에서의 민중은 시대에 따라, 나라에 따라 그 특성을 갖는다. 우리 역시 우리 민족이 가지고 있는 민족적인 특성이 있고 현대사회에서 그것은 집중될 만한 하나의 문화로 자리 잡고 있다. 봉산탈춤은 오락적이고 유희적인 기능을 강하게 갖고 있는 대동놀이로 오랜 시기에 걸쳐 우리 민족 생활의 일부이거나 생활의 연장선상 속에 있었다. 이러한 봉산탈춤이 지금의 모습을 갖추기 시작한 것은 조선후기 때이다. 조선후기에는 사회신분관의 변화와 경제적 변동이 급격히 일어났기 때문에 사회적, 경제적 변동의 연구와 더불어 조선후기 당시 탈춤이 가지고 있는 사회문화적 배경과 봉산탈춤의 기원 및 변천에 대하여 연구하였다. 또한 조선후기 봉산탈춤에 나타난 사회적인 특성에 대하여 연구함으로써 봉산탈춤으로 인하여 나타나게 되는 신명과 카타르시스, 풍자와 해학적 기능이 현대사회 속에서 우리가 외국의 것을 받아들이기만 하는 것이 아닌 우리만의 특성을 가진 문화로 타민족과의 교류와 조화를 이루어 나아갈 수 있도록 봉산탈춤이 가지고 있는 사회적 특성을 밝혀내고자 하였다. 봉산탈춤에서 나타나는 사회적인 요소는 생활, 제의적 성격이 드러나는 공동체적 요소와 신명, 카타르시스의 내적요소가 포함되어 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한 조선후기 봉산탈춤의 사회적 기능으로는 단순히 사회적 풍자와 해학적 측면으로만 나타나는 것이 아니라, 사회적 풍자로 인한 민중의 갈등이 해소되는 것을 볼 수 있다. 무엇보다 양반의 입장에서는 탈춤이 궁극적으로 민중에게 불만과 갈등을 토로할 수 있는 기회를 주어 민란을 예방할 수 있는 또 다른 갈등해소의 측면으로 나타나게 되었다. 즉 지배 계층이 민중에게 자유분방한 민속문화를 허용해 줌으로써 민중들이 평소 지배 계층에 대하여 느껴 온 불만이나 갈등을 해소하도록 도와주는 것이다. 이러한 갈등해소의 측면과 함께 나타나는 신명풀이의 성격은 봉산탈춤에서 강하게 드러나며, 놀이 및 축제의 측면을 통하여 민중의 생활 현장과 함께 공동체적 결속을 이루고, 조선후기 혼란스러워진 사회 속에서 민중들의 응어리와 한을 풀어주어 현실 속의 삶을 살아갈 수 있게 하는 것으로, 봉산탈춤은 민중문화와 민중의식의 성장에 영향을 미쳤다. 조선후기의 이러한 사회적 특성은 지금까지도 이어져 내려와 현대사회 속에서 나타나는 사회적 성격과 흡사하다고 할 수 있다. 외국의 것을 무분별하게 받아들여 우리의 문화가 쇠퇴되기도 하는 이 시대 속에서 우리 민족의 사회적 특성을 좀 더 깊이 연구하여 조화로운 문화의 창조로 발돋움하게 할 수 있는 토대가 될 것이다.;Human are the main living in a community life with conflict, antagonism, living in orders, and peace in a society where they bring to completion of their lives through the community. Likewise, the people in these community have own characteristics depend on the era they live, and the territory they belong to. The study time chosen for the research that is in the late Joseon dynasty period about social trapit on the traditional Korean Bongsan masked dance which in aim to analyse the enthusiastic, catharsis, a social on society, and humorous function result from the traditional Korean Bongsan masked dance. To be specific, this study attempts to find out not only how foreign cultures are accepted in the modern time, but also to address the social trait on how traditional Korean Bongsan masked dance with own characteristic culture accord with cultural exchange with other ethnic. The traditional Korean Bongsan masked dance is a recreational and as a accompaniment play which have function of play had been perceived as part of our ethic's lives or in a progress of continuos. The traditional korean Bongsan masked dance had formed to shape in the post period of Joseon dynasty. In the late Joseon dynasty period, due to a change of a social position and change of economy have peeled out, research on economic and social change along with the background of social cultural origin of the traditional korean Bongsan masked dance and its change was analyzed. In the findings, a social factor from the traditional korean Bongsan masked dance, comprehend catharsis inner factor. Moreover, the social factor of the traditional Korean Bongsan masked dance in the late Joseon dynasty period does not simply portray as a satire on society, and humorous side, yet, disentangle the trouble of people of a satire on society. In the perspective of high class, the traditional Korean Bongsan masked dance provide the opportunity to outpour the conflict and discontent that would prevent a revote and regarded as a resolution of conflict on the other side. The governing classes give approval on the freedom of ethnic culture to the mass of the people which helps to disentangle their discontent or conflict. These disentangle of conflict appears to be enthusiastic characteristics in the traditional Korean Bongsan masked dance and the through the view of play and festival, the mass of the people of actual living scene had unity with community. The society after confusion in the late Joseon dynasty period pay off old score that they may live in the reality, and the traditional Korean Bongsan masked dance had impact on growth of both people culture and people notion. These characteristics have generated from the late Jeseon dynasty period to these days that it is similar to the social characteristics in the modern society. This research will contribute to examine the further social characteristics of our ethnic to bring on to generate harmonize culture.
