Francis Poulenc의 가곡「Airs Chante´s」에 대한 음악 연구

Abstract

This is to study the song cycle, which go by the name of “Airs Chantés”, made by Francis Poulenc (1899 – 1963). In this study, through analysis and study of research based on the composer’s composition activity by different periods and of harmony and styles in the process of creating music from a piece of poetry of “Airs Chantés”. Poulenc was an outstanding pianist and composer who continued the neo-classicism tradition of French art songs in the early 20th century. Also, he was a member of the french six member group (Les Six) over various genres of strings, piano, opera, vocal, chorus, chamber music and ballet music; and not only did he expressed compositions of exotic artistic effects with light and fancy rhythm and harmony, he also composed from lyrical and deep compositions to children’s song-like simple compositions as well as drastic compositions. For the researcher of this study, analysis on the composition of “Airs Chantés” was conducted; and when characteristics of this piece is observed, the titles “Air romantique”, “Air champêtre”, “Air grave”, and “Air vif” describe all the feelings felt by the composition. The method of arranging short motifs, rhythms, or melodies in repetitions is frequently used, and the reason the melody feels so beautiful is probably because Poulenc considered the melody an important musical element. His songs are classified into the second half of his musical life, and they are compositions that well reveal the various changes in his musical characteristics that are no longer simpler but classical. It is hoped that this study will provide substantial help to people who performing “Airs Chantés”, one of the most popular and widely loved compositions by Poulenc.;본 논문은 프랑시스 뿔랑(Francis Poulenc, 1899-1963)이 작곡한 연가곡인 『에어 샹떼』(Airs chantés)에 대한 연구이다. 작곡가의 작품 활동에 근거를 두고 시를 음악화하는 과정에서 화성, 형식에 대한 분석을 통해 연구하였다. 뿔랑은 20세기 전반에 프랑스 예술가곡의 신고전주의 전통을 이은 뛰어난 피아니스트이자 작곡가였다. 또한 그는 관현악, 피아노, 오페라, 가곡, 합창곡, 실내악곡, 발레음악 등 다양한 장르에 걸쳐 프랑스 6인조 (Les Six)의 일원으로서 프랑스의 이국적 정취와 함께 리듬과 화성이 화려한 작품뿐만 아니라 서정적인 정취를 함께 하고 있고, 심오한 곡에서부터 동요조의 단순한 음악에 이르기까지 극적인 작품을 다양하게 표현하였다. 이 작품의 특징을 살펴보면, 작품의 제목은 『낭만적인 노래』(Air romantique),『전원의 노래』(Air champêtre),『장중한 노래』(Air grave),『활기찬 노래』(Air vif)로 제목 자체가 각 곡들의 분위기를 설명하고 있다. 짧은 동기를 리듬이나 선율의 반복을 통하여 길게 나열하고 있는 방식을 많이 사용하고 있으며 선율이 매우 아름답게 느껴짐은 아마도 뿔랑이 선율을 중요한 음악적 요소로 여겼기 때문일 것이다. 이 연가곡은 그의 음악적 시기 중 제2기에 분류되어 있는 곡으로 그의 작곡이 더 이상 단순함이 아닌 고전적이면서도 변화가 다양한 음악적 특징이 잘 나타나있음을 보여주었다. 본 논문을 통해 뿔랑의 가장 사랑받는 작품들 중 하나인 연가곡 『에어 샹떼』(Airs chantés)가 연주자에게 실질적인 도움이 되길 바란다.
