임종환자를 위한 목회상담 연구

Abstract

오늘날 인간의 수명은 과학 발달과 고도의 의학기술로 인해 의학이 지향하는 바와 같이 놀랄 만큼 늘어날 수 있게 되었다. 의학 발전 앞에 이 같은 결과는 인간의 존재욕구를 충분히 만족하게 할 수 있는 결과로 자리 잡게 되었으나, 한편으로는 대형화, 기계화, 비인간화 등의 문제를 야기 시켰다. 의학의 대형화, 기계화, 비인간화 등의 문제는 병상에서 죽음을 기다리는 임종환자에게도 예외는 아니기 때문에 더욱 실제적인 접근으로 전인적 돌봄의 방안들이 모색되어야만 한다. 그러므로 본 논문은 임종환자를 위한 돌봄을 목회상담적으로 고찰하여 임종의 현장에서 직면할 수 있는 상황을 실질적으로 준비하고 효과적으로 돕는 것에 그 목적을 두었다. 이를 위하여 죽음과 임종의 의미를 전반적으로 이해하고 임종의 과정 안에서 환자들이 어떠한 영향을 받는지에 대해 우선하여 살펴보았다. 그리고 II 장에서는 본 논문에서 초점이 되는 임종환자를 바르게 이해하도록 그 의미를 시작으로 현 실태를 열거하였으며 임종으로 말미암아 현실에서 나타날 수 있는 환자의 여러 반응을 신체와 심리의 부분으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 아울러 임종환자를 이해함에 간과할 수 없는 가족의 문제도 본 장의 범주 안에 포함하여 그들의 심리적 반응을 중심으로 살펴보았다. III 장에서는 임종환자의 이해가 이루어진 후, 임종환자와 분리시킬 수 없는 ‘죽음’의 문제를 의학, 심리, 성서에 따른 이론에 기초하여 각각 나누어 살펴보았다. IV 장에서는 임종환자에게 있어 실제적 돌봄이 되는 방안들을 목회상담적 입장으로 그들이 병상에서 갖는 요구와 돌봄들을 사례와 함께 영적, 심리적, 신체적 측면에서 분석하여 제안하였다. 이 연구를 통해 목회상담적 돌봄의 틀을 마련하고 죽음의 선고 앞에 고독하게 싸우고 있는 임종환자를 총체적으로 도우며, 나아가 임종의 현장에서 실질적인 돌봄이 정착될 수 있기를 기대해 본다.;Nowadays, human life expectancy has been remarkably prolonged as the medical science aims, thanks to the advancement of science and the high level of medical technology. This result obtained from the advancement of medical science has fully satisfied the human desire for existence, but, on the other hand, it has caused other problems, such as getting larger in size, mechanization, dehumanization, etc. Thus, the holistic care methods should be explored with a practical approach, because the terminal patients who are facing death in bed are no exceptions to the above-mentioned problem. Therefore, this paper aims at exploring the ways of care for the terminal patients from the aspect of pastoral counseling, to help them to prepare for the situations they might face at the spots of dying substantially and to assist them effectively. For this, it examined first what kind of influences they might get in the process of dying to understand the meanings of death and dying overall. And in Chapter Two, in order that people could understand the terminal patients right, the focus of this paper, its meaning has been specified first by dividing the terminal patients' various responses, which could occur in reality due to dying, into two parts: body and psychology. Moreover, since the problems that the bereaved families might have could not be overlooked when understanding the terminal patients, they were also included into the scope of this chapter and examined centering around their psychological responses. In Chapter Three, after the terminal patients have been understood, the inseparable problem of 'death' from them has been investigated respectively based on the theories in the medical, psychological, and biblical areas. In Chapter Four, the demands of the terminal patients and cares have been analyzed with the cases in a number of aspects and the practical care methods have been proposed from the standpoint of pastoral counseling. The meanings and roles of the terminal patient care, as a pastoral counsellor, have been investigated prior to these proposals and the preceding works were required to explore into how to apply the resources of care. It is expected that this study would provide a framework of care from the aspect of pastoral counseling to help the terminal patients who are fighting against the sentence of death solitarily in general, and that the practical care would be established at the spots of dying.
