W.A. Mozart의 피아노 소품에 관한 硏究

Abstract

모짜르트(Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart :1756 - 1791)는 고전주의 음악의 대표적인 작곡가 중의 한 사람으로서 여러 분야에서 훌륭한 작품들을 많이 남겼다. 그의 음악을 대표하는 것으로는 오페라·교향곡·피아노 협주곡·피아노 소나타 등 많이 있지만, 본 논문에서는 그의 피아노 작품 중에서 '환상곡'과 '론도'를 포함하여 많이 알려지지 않은 소품들을 연구 대상으로 하였다. 이러한 소품들의 대부분은 그의 생애 中 주로 초기(1761 - 71년)와 말기(1781년 이후)에 작곡되었다. 본 논문의 연구과정은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모차르트의 연주여행으로 일관된 생애와, 그러한 여행을 통해서 모차르트가 많은 영향을 받게 된 18세기 후반의 중요한 음악적 양식을 살펴보았다. 두 번째로는, 먼저 초기 피아노 소품들에 대해 간략하게 알아본 후, 후기 소품들의 음악적 특성을 형식과 선율·화성·리듬 및 아티큘레이션(articulation)등의 면에서 고찰해 보았다. 초기의 소품들이 간단한 형식으로 된 습작에 지나지 않는데 반해 후기의 것들은 여러 가지 면에서 모짜르트의 뛰어난 음악성을 보여주고 있다. 그리고 끝으로는 후기의 피아노 소품 11곡을 선정하여, 각 곡의 형식과 구조적인 측면, 악상의 전개 방식과 음악적 양식 및 특징적인 요소 등을 중심으로 하여 개별적으로 분석하였다. 이와 같은 연구 결과로 모짜르트의 피아노 소품은 크게 세가지의 양식을 반영하고 있음을 알게 되었다. '환상곡'들과 '아다지오(K.540)'등과 같이 '감정과다양식(Empfindsamer Stil)'에 기초를 두고 작곡된 곡들이 있고, '론도'작품들은 '갈란트 양식(Galant Style)'을 반영하는 곡들이며, '환상곡과 후가(K.394)', '지이그(K.574). '조곡(K.399)'등은 바로크 시대의 기악 양식을 도입하여 쓰여진 것이다. 이러한 양식들은 모짜르트의 곡에서 독자적인 형태로 적용되면서 모짜르트 특유의 양식으로 구축되었음을 알 수 있다. 피아노 소품들의 특징 중에서 각 곡의 구조적인 완벽성은 특히 뛰어난 것으로 보인다. 풍부한 악상을 전개시키면서도 각 부분의 유기적 연관성을 밀접하게 유지함으로써 곡의 통일성을 이루었다는 것을 발견할 수 있다. 예를 들어 하나의 주된 리듬 동기를 곡 전체에 도입하거나, 한 곡 안에서 각 부분의 연관성을 도모한다거나, 또는 각 부분의 첫머리에 동일한 음형을 제시하는 등의 방법으로서, 다양한 악상이 구조적인 통일성을 가지고 전개된 것을 알 수 있다. 이처럼, 모차르트의 피아노 소품들이 그의 음악에서 차지하는 비중은 그렇게 크지 않다고 해도, 후기 소품들에서 발견되는 뛰어난 음악성과 구성력 그리고 음악적 가치는 높이 평가되어질 수 있을 것이다.;W.A. Mozart was one of the most representative composers of the 18th century Classicism in music. He composed a lot of operas, symphonies, piano concertos and sonatas all through his life. In this thesis, his Fantasias, Rondos, and other miscellaneous piano works were studied from the viewpoint of musical contents and forms. Most of these works were composed either in the early period or in the later days of his life-time. Mozart is known to have been on a lot of concert tours around Europe. And through these tours, his musical world was much influenced from the styles of his contemporary music. Especially, the 'Galant Style' and the 'Empfindsamer Stil' played a great part in his music. Compared with the works of early period, the later ones were definitely refined in form, melody, harmony, rhythm, and articulations, reflecting the ingenious musical trate of Mozart. Most of all, the structural arrangement of musical ideas were excellent and effective. Mozart sustained the organic integrity of each work through the various formal structures. He introduced the main rhythmic motive in each section, or developed various materials with proper correlation, or presented the similar figuration in the beginning of each movements in the piece of sonata form. From these organic unity of structure, Mozart assimilated the diverse musical ideas of these piano works with fluency and effectiveness.
