성령론 연구

Abstract

Today the Korean church, in which the revival movement is increasing rapidly, misunderstands this enthusiastical revival movement itself as the Holy Spirit movement and confuses speaking in tougues or healing ability with the absolute grace of the spirit. From the misconception of faith arises in the Korean church the misconception of the Holy Spirit. It is eutirely unbiblical and anti-historical. Korean Christians neglect not only the solidarity of the church revealed in the Gospels and the task of humanization of the world in dehumanized world today but also misunderstand the power of the church as asupreme power. As the result of their misconception they become the cause of the division of Korean church. Therefore, as an attempt to overcome this problem, my thesis describes firstly biblical basis about the spirit and attempts to prevent the confusion of the Korean church about the word Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit in the situation of Korean church. The main theme of this study is Calvin's doctrine of the Holy Spirit and ecclesiology, which is part of it; his Institute of the Christian Religion vol. 3 and vol. 4 is the major source of this thesis. Calvin says that the Holy Spirit cannot be confined to a person, to a group or to a place, for He works constantly in the entire dimension of all the Christian life, especially in the community of the church. God reveals His will to us , makes us object to it and Jesus Christ with us always through the Holy Spirit. God fulfills His will, communicated in all time and place through His Holy Spirit who works is the church. Calvin understood the Holy Spirit, as said above. He insists also and even on the salvation and dignity of a person which cannot be violated by any one. Because the church is according to Calvin is related to the whole world and history. His activity in Geneva founded a new era, over against the disintegrating feudal society of the mideaval age. He also fought against various social injustices which had been tied with the Roman Catholic Church and the mideaval age. Calvins activity in Geneva laid to a certain extent a foundation of modern democratic trend. We must consider calvin's activity in Geneva as part of his ecclesiology. Calvin's doctrine of the Holy Spirit is significant for the Korean Church today. The presbyterian church must rediscover it. To be sure, his doctrine has a limitation, which was tied with his historical situation. However, it provided us a principle of understanding the Holy Spirit in relation to the world.; l.71-72;오늘날 우리 한국 교회는, 부쩍 부흥회가 늘어가고 있는 상황속에서, 흥분된 부흥회 자체를 성령 운동으로 착각하고 있으며, 방언, 병고치는 능력등을 성령의 절대적인 은사인 것처럼 착각하고 있다. 또한, 성령에 대한 이와 같은 잘못된 이해를 가지고 있는 한국 교인들의 신앙 태도는 자연히(反)역사적, 반시대적 환상을 띠게 된다. 그리고 이들은 복음에서 오는 연대 책임성이나 세상에서의 인간화의 면들을 무시하게 되고, 교권 자체를 절대적인 것인양 착각하게 되며, 또한 한국 교회의 분열을 일으키는 한 요인이 되고 있다. 이와 같은 문제 정황속에서, 본 논문은, 그러한 문제를 극복해보려는 한 시도로서, 성령이란 말 자체에 대한 애매성이나 성령의 은사에 대한 혼돈을 막기 위해 영에 대한 성서적 이해를 서술한 후, 칼빈(Calvin) 의 「기독교 강요」제3권과 제4권을 중심으로 한, 칼빈의 성령론, 그리고 그에 입각한 교회론을 다루고 있다. 칼빈은, 성령이 한 개인, 한 집단, 하나의 장소에 국한될 수 없다고 말하면서, 전 신도들의 전체 생활 영역속에서, 특히 교회라는 공동체속에서, 성령은 늘 역사하고 있음을 말한다. 성령을 통해 하나님은 그의 뜻을 우리에게 보여 주시며, 또 그 뜻 앞에서 우리가 순종할 수 있게 하시며, 또한, 우리 안에 예수그리스도가 늘 함께 할 수 있도록 하신다. 하나님은, 교회안에 함께 하는 성령을 통해, 시대를 뚫고 들려오는 그의 뜻을 이뤄나가시는 것이다. 그러나, 칼빈은 성령에 대한 위와같은 이해를 지니고 있으면서도, 봉건제 해체기라는 그 당시의 역사적인 요청에 부응하여, 하나님앞에서의 사회 전체 구성원의 연대 책임성보다는, 개인의 구원, 하나님 이외에는 어느 누구에게도, 어느 무엇에 의해서도 침해될 수 없는 개인의존엄성을 강조하고 있다. 즉, 칼빈은 그 당시 교권 중심적인 로마 카톨릭 교회가 범하고 있었던 많은 오류와 부패와 불의에 대해 항거했던 것이다. 우리는, 칼빈의 성령론을 이와 같은 그의 시대적 맥락과 관련시켜 재검토하지 않고 그대로 오늘날 적용시키고자 할 때는, 그의 성령론을 초월적인, 피안적인, 개인 중심적인 것으로만 이해하기 쉽다. 그리하여, 본 논문은, 칼빈이 그 시대의 인물이였으며, 그 시대의 역사적 요청에 부응하여 하나님의 뜻을 실천하고자 했던 것을 상기하여, 칼빈의 「기독교 강요」이 외에 변호적인 색채가 덜한 그의 주석서나 신학 논문들을 참조함으로써 그의 성령론을 이 땅에 재해석해 나갈 수 있는 근거를 마련하고자 하는 것이다.
