병원실내환경디자인을 위한 시각커뮤니케이션 프로그램(Visual Communication Program) 개발과정에 관한 연구

Abstract

The hospital is a place that serves a special function-medical treatment-, and is an artifitial environment that has various groups of customers and complex physical structures. Medical care is what deals with human life, and, therefore, it becomes abvious that the hospital than any other environment, ought to be an environment of man-centeredness. The most important thing in the present conditions of hospital environments is that such concept of environmental design that may accept positively the both extreme values of faculty and man has to be newly and propery established. Besides with a fulfillment of physical and techonological needs, any study in the design of future Hospital environments sjould have interest in the fulfillment of the users' demands. In this study, for a desirable interior hospital environment with emphasis on the users' practices in 'way finding', a concep-through interactions between man and environment and into the function contribution to users' orientation, it was judged that hospital environment has to be designed as an environment of full images, that is easy-accessing upon various 'wayfinding' cues. 1. Psychological responses of respective groups of users appeared in hospital environment are different each other. Moreover, the priority of interest in environmental design has to be given to the patents, and, from this viewpoint hospital environment should be able to play a role as a treatment environment. Therefore, the image of interior hosital environment has to include such expressional qualities that may make it possible not only for patients to be delivered from psychological anxiety but also for visitors to have more pleasant aesthetic experiences. 2. On the basis of preceding theoretical approaches, a frame of methodological concept for interior hospital environment was established and the process of eorganization of the visual clues was developed and presented through a case study. The hospital environment as a field of visual communication, conclusively, has to be designed in such a manner that may establish harmonious relations between the environment, and patients that frame that it should be designed as an environment of full image and easy-accessing was first established, and, then such an adequate design pattern that may make it possible to achieve efficient madical cure and psychological, emotional satisfaction of users successfully was presented. The study has followed such process as follows: 1. The purpose of study and the design method were first systematized, and the physical acope or range was confined to. 2. Through a theoretical approaching for identifying the functiional and aesthetic values which are newly required for contemporary hospitals, the validity of the desist approach of this study was verified. 3. Problems in present hospital environments were recngnized by understanding the role and managerial target of the contemporary hospital and examining its organization and characterisics through a general investigation into hospitals. 4. The relationship between man and environment was understood from the perspective of visual communication, and by which hopsital environment was seen as a system of varous zvisual information. 5. By exploring into the concept of environmental image formed or other users by being processed systematically. Visually well-planned environments would offer the users strong meaningfulness. And, following effects would be expected from such concepts of environmental design. 1. Construction of images peduliar to the hospital. 2. Increase of the patient's emotional rest and aesthetic experience. 3. Uplifting of the degree of general reliance upon the hospital. 4. Reinforcement of the sense of unity and team spirit among the staff. 5. Effieicney improvement in medical function;병원은 매우 특수한 기능-의료-을 행하는 곳이며 다양한 이용자 집단과 복잡한 물리적 구조를 갖고 있는 인공환경이다. 의료행위란 인간의 생명을 다루는 것이며 따라서 병원은 그 어떤 환경보다도 인간중심적 환경이 되어야 함은 분명하다. 현 병원환경의 상황에서 가장 중요한 것은 기능과 인간의 양극적 가치를 적극적으로 수용하는 환경 디자인의 개념이 새롭게 정립되어야 한다는 것으로서, 물리적·기술적 요구충족과 더불어 미래의 병원환경디자인 연구는 이용자의 요구충족에 관심을 가져야 한다. 본 연구는 보다 바람직한 병원실내 환경을 위해 이용자들의 길찾기(Wayfinding) 행태를 중심으로, 이미지가 풍부하고 접근하기 쉬운 환경으로 계획되어야 한다는 개념적 틀을 확립하고 보다 효율적인 의료기능의 수행과 이용자들의 심리적·정서적 만족을 성취가능하게 하는 적합한 디자인 모형을 제시하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 본 연구는 다음과 같은 과정으로 진행되었다. 1. 연구의 목적과 디자인방법을 체계화하였으며 그 물리적 범위를 한정하였다. 2. 현대의 병원환경에 대해 새롭게 요구되어지는 기능적 가치와 미적가치의 동일시를 위한 이론적 접근을 통해, 본 연구의 디자인 접근 타당성을 부여하였다. · 병원의 일반적 고찰을 통해 현대 병원의 역할과 경영목표를 이해하고 병원의 조직 및 특성을 살펴봄으로써 현 병원환경의 문제점을 인식하였다. · 시각커뮤니케이션 관점에서 인간과 환경의 관계성을 이해하고 이를 통해 병원환경을 다양한 시각적 정보들의 시스템으로 보았다. · 인간과 환경의 상호작용을 통해 형성되는 환경이미지의 개념과 환경내에서 이용자들의 오리엔테이션-위치방향설정-에 기여하는 역할을 알아봄으로써 병원환경은 이미지가 풍부한 환경 즉, 다양한 길찾기 단서들로 구성된 접근하기 쉬운 환경으로 디자인 되어야 한다고 판단하였다. · 병원의 환경내에서 나타나게 되는 각 이용자 집단의 심리적 반응은 다르다. 더우기 신체적·정신적 장애를 안고 있는 환자에게 환경디자인의 기초를 두어야 하며 이러한 관점에서 병원환경은 곧 치료적 환경으로서 역할을 할 수 있어야 한다. 따라서 병원실내환경 이미지는 환자의 심리적 불안을 해소시키고 기타 이용자에게는 보다 쾌적하고 미적체험을 가능하게 하는 표현적 질을 내포하여야 한다. 3. 앞서 고찰되어진 이론적 접근을 토대로 병원실내환경디자인을 위한 방법론적 개념의 틀을 정립하고 사례연구를 통해 시각적 단서화 과정을 개발 제시하였다. 본 연구를 통해 병원실내환경디자인 과정을 체계적으로 진행함으로써 시각커뮤니케이션 장으로서의 병원환경은 환경과 환자, 기타 이용자들의 조화로운 관계를 확립하게 되며, 시각적으로 잘 짜여진 환경은 그 이용자에게 강력한 의미를 부여할 수 있다고 판단되었다. 이러한 디자인 개념을 갖는 환경디자인으로 다음과 같은 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 1. 병원의 독특한 이미지 구축 2. 환자의 정서적 안정과 미적체험 증대 3. 병원에 대한 신뢰도 제고 4. 직원사이의 일체감, 소속감 강화 5. 의료기능의 능률향상
