한국인의 얼굴이미지 표현 연구

Abstract

This study is about the process and result of the expression of the Korean's facial image. It is said that facial expression is the mirror of the inner thought clearly, to know their underlying consciousness and formative senses should be preceded. The Koreans have a great love for the nature, and regard their lives as a part of it. Historically ]Koreans have been suffered external ordeals for centuries. Therefore their image can be compared to that of pebbles, smoothness and roundness. As rocks have been changed into pebbles by wind and water through many ages, so the Koreans have been tossed about in the storms of life. In this study, Ⅰ, researcher, dealt with the subject as follows : In chapter Ⅱ, 「The Koreans' face and inner thoughts」 A. The Koreans' inner thoughts influenced by natural environment-relation with form and texture. The researcher inquired the background and their formative senses why the Koreans become to love natural beauty. B. 「Facial form shaped by the Koreans」 The researcher tired to represent the Koreans' consciousness about their faces and the facial form produced by them. In chapter Ⅲ. 「The process of work and expression」 In advance of working A. In the "Face of stone" I studied about the story of the face of stone made by the artists who have found the image of humans' inner thought in the stone and have projected it. B. Linking the two. -face and pebble-the researcher developed the form and texture-smoothness and roundness. As a result of thier work, a poster "The portrait of man", was born. Nature is always mysterious and great, so it gives us infinitive imagination and marvelous ideas. Through this study the researcher tasted the joy to find out faces with various feellings reflected within small pebbles-a part of nature. To enlarge the joy of discovering nature, the more systematic and sustained efforts will be required. And these works based on the relation between human face and pebbles will be helpful for the following researchers to produce more works.;본 논문은 사람의 얼굴이미지를 표면하고자 하는 작품이 나오기까지의 과정과 결과이다. 얼굴에는 사람의 마음, 곧 내면의 이미지가 담겨져 있다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 한국인의 얼굴은 한국인의 마음의 단적인 이미지라 할 수 있을 것이다. 한국의 자연적 풍토속에서 살아온 한국인의 마음의 이미지로서의 얼굴을 표현하는데는 한국인 내면에 흐르고 있는 무의식적 공감대로서의 조형의식에 대한 이해가 그 바탕이 되어야 할 것이다. 오랜 세월동안 깍이고 깍인 수난의 역사를 견뎌온 한국인의 인고의 마음은 바람에 깍이고 물에 씻긴 한국의 노년기 지형이 만들어낸 형태와 질감에 비유될 수 있다. 그리하여 작은 자갈 돌들에서 발견되는 본질과 속성이 바로 한국인의 얼굴 이미지와도 같다는 개념이 나온다. 이러한 개념을 가지고 출발하여, 한국인의 마음이 나타난 이미지로서의 얼굴을 표현하기 위하여 다음과 같은 것들을 우선적으로 고찰하였다. 제 Ⅱ장 「한국인의 얼굴과 마음」중 A. "풍토를 통해 본 한국인의 마음 : 형태와 질감에 대한 심상"에서는 한국인의 자연스러움을 좋아하는 마음의 근원과 그 조형의식을 고찰하였고, B. "한국인이 형상화한 얼굴형태"에서는 한국인이 가지고 있는 얼굴에 대한 생각과 함께 한국인이 형상화해 온 얼굴형태들을 살펴 보았다. 제 Ⅲ장, 「작품전개 및 표현」에서는 작품으로 들어가기에 앞서 A. "돌의 얼굴"에서 돌로 부터 인간 내면의 이미지를 발견하고 돌속에 투영시켰던 예술가들이 만든 돌의 얼굴의 이야기를 하였다. B. 돌을 이용한 얼굴의 표현과정을 통해 연구자는 자갈돌에서 발견한 한국인의 얼굴이미지를 돌과 얼굴이라는 두가지 이미지를 결합하는 과정을 몇차례 겪으면서 작품으로 발전시켜 나갔다. 결과적으로 자연이 낳은 돌의 형태와 질감에서 얼굴의 이미지는 탄생되었고, 작품은 그 얼굴 하나씩을 가득 담은 "THE PORTRAIT OF MAN, 인간의 얼굴展"이라는 Poster로 제작되었다. 인간을 둘러싸고 있는 자연은 언제나 인간에게 무한한 상상력을 제공하는 신비롭고 위대한 대상이기에, 조그만 돌 하나에서도 인간의 감정을 담은 얼굴을 발견해 낼 수 있음을 확인한 것이 본 작품의 진행과정을 통해 얻은 수확이자 기쁨이었다. 이 연구는 본 연구자가 관심갖고 있는 주제에 대한 하나의 시도였고 앞으로 계속되어야 할 보다 심층적인 연구와 자유로운 작품표현의 첫 걸음이라고 할 수 있다. 조그만 돌 하나에서도 인간의 마음을 담은 얼굴을 볼 수 있다는 것을 확인한 본 연구에서, 이를 바탕으로 앞으로 계속 작품화될 수 있는 가능성 또한 확인된 것이다.
