大學에서의 圖書館 敎育 프로그램에 關한 硏究

Abstract

The object of this study is to claim the realization of better and efficient library instruction pregrams in the universities of Korea. For this object, first of all, this paper commented on the need of library instruction in universities, and studied the whole methods and materials of library instruction. And next, it investigated the actual conditions of these programs in the universities of Korea, United States, Britain and Japan. And then, it presented the problems, and emphasized the role of librarian and professor in carring out these programs. In corclusion, this paper stated the suggestion for the effective management of library instruction progrms in the universities of Korea. First, instructional efforts should be Planned to stimu- late the motivation of students in library-use. In order to provide high motivation, library should do its service, and regular and frequent materials for library-use and P.R. should a aid these efforts. And also, cramming educational method should be transformed to independent educational method. Second, the present methods and contents of these programs should be reinforced and supplemented. Library orientation should be got out of the present and conventional procedures. And each universities should have need to establish the formal courses of library-use instruction with credit. Besides, effective and various audiovisual aids should be applied to these programs. Third, library instruction should have gradational programs Continuous programs should be proceeded through introductory level for freshmen, specialized level for upper-class students and more specialized level for graduate students. Fourth, the proper rolc of librarian and professor and cooperative attitude between them are necessary factors for an effective library instruction. Librarians should be initia- tive and enthusiastic to involve these programs. On the other hand, professors should have library-direcional attitudes. Last, university administation and library administration should have appreciations, concerns and right recognitions of these programs. To say nothing of library administration, university administration should take charge of the role of a supporter for an effective library instruction programs.;본 논문의 목적은 우리나라 대학사회에 있어서 효과적인 대학교 육을 위한 도서관교육의 필요성을 인식하고, 도서관교육이 아직까지 초보단계에 머물러 있는 우리나라 도서관교육의 量的 확대와 質的 향상을 위해서 보다 계획적이고 효율적인 도서관교육 실시에 대한 계획이 이루어져야 한다는 것을 주장하고자 하는데 있다. 이를 위해 이 논문에서는 먼저 대학에서의 도서관교육의 意義를 논하고, 일반적인 도서관교육의 방법과 도서관교육에 사용되는 全般 的인 자료를 살펴보았다. 다음으로 우리나라를 비롯한 미국, 영국 일본 등지의 대학 도서관교육의 실태를 조사함으로써 이상에서 나 타난 도서관교육 실시 상에서의 문제점들을 제기하고, 그에 따른 사서와 교수의 역할을 강조하였다. 끝으로 이상과 같은 조사결과를 통하여 우리나라 대학 도서관교 육의 효과적 운영을 위한 제언을 시도하였다. 첫째,학생들의 도서관 이용에 대한 자발적이며 적극적인 동기의 유발에 주력하여야 한다. 그러기 위해서는, 도서관의 적극적인 봉 사와 정규적이고 빈번한 안내 및 선전을 위한 배포자료와 홍보활 동에 의한 보완, 그리고 교수진들의 자율적인 교육방법으로의 전환 이 필요하다. 둘째, 도서관교육의 방법과 내용면에서의 강화 내지 보완책이 필 요하다. 현재 실시 중인 형식적인 오리엔테이션 절차에서 탈피하 여, 프로그램의 적당한 시기를 결정하고, 가능한 한 다른 부서의 오리엔테이션과 독립하여 보다 구체성있고 계획성있는 내용 진행과 함께 더 많은 시간과 직원을 동원하여야 할 것이다. 그리고 깊이 있는 교육을 실시하기 위해서는 각 대학에서는 학점이 배당된 정 규 과목으로서의 도서관 이용법에 대한 강좌를 개설할 필요가 있다. 또한 종래의 방법보다 더 효과적일 수 있는 다양한 시청각 기재를 통한 미디어의 적용이 바람직하다. 세째, 단계적인 교육 프로그램의 필요성을 들 수 있다. 도서관 교육은 한 번만의 강의나 단위로는 불충분한 것이 명백한 사실이 다. 신입생이나 전공분야에 들어간 상급학년과 더 深化된 서지적 지식을 요구하는 대학원 수준을 통해서 계속적인 도서관교육 프로 그램이 진행되어야 할 것이다. 네째,사서와 교수의 올바른 역할과 공동의 협력자세가 효과적인 도서관교육을 위한 필수적 요건이 된다. 사서들은 적극적인 자세 로서 교사로서의 사서의 위치를 재확인하여야 하며 소속 대학의 도서관교육 계획의 개입에 솔선적이며 열성적이어야 한다. 한편 교수진들을 적당한 시기에 담당과목과 연관된 이용지도를 사서에게 의뢰하는 도서관 지향적인 자세를 지녀야 한다. 효과적인 敎授계획은 무엇보다도 교수와 사서가 함께 운영함으로써 이루어지는 것이다. 다섯째, 도서관교육 계획에 대한 대학행정과 도서관 행정 측의 이해와 관심 그리고 바른 인식이 필요하다. 도서관 행정은 물론 대학 행정측은 도서관교육의 효과적 실현을 위한 후원자로서의 역활을 담당해야 한다.
