C. Debussy 〈Images Ⅱ〉에 대한 硏究

Abstract

프랑스의 가장 위대한 작곡가 중 하나이며, 20세기 음악에서 가장 영향력 있는 사람 중 하나인 드뷔시(Claude Achille Debussy:1862-1918)는 당시 지배적이던 독일 낭만주의 음악과는 다른 새로운 음악을 개척하였다. 19세기 말부터 20세기 초는 낭만주의의 말기로서 낭만파 기법이 새로운 표현방법으로 변환되는 시기였으며, 이 시기에 드뷔시는 전통적 개념의 화음진행이나 과거의 형식과 규율을 떠나 새로운 음악표현을 함으로써 20세기 음악발전에 공헌을 하였다. 이 새로운 음악은 문학의 상징주의와 회화의 인상주의에서 영향을 받았으며,이들의 이상은 직접 사물을 기술하고 묘사하기보다는 암시하는 것으로 어떤 대상이나 광경의 인상을 나타내는 데 있었다. 회화의 인상주의는 감각적으로 느낀 인상들을 순수하고 단순하게 묘사하며, 감정을 중시하는 대신 분위기를 중심으로 색채와 빛의 인상을 창조하려고 하였던 미술사조로서 이러한 생각을 음악에 적용하기 위해 드뷔시는 전통적인 작곡기법에서 벗어나 다양한 음색을 낼 수 있는 새로운 작곡기법을 도입하였다. 그가 사용한 멜로디나 화성은 순수하게 미적인 역할을 하였고, 악상을 전하기 위해서라기보다는 오히려 신비한 음향과 감각에 매혹되어 뚜렷한 멜로디와 논리적인 주제 전개를 희생시켰다. [Images Ⅱ] 는 くCloches a｀travers les feuilles> 와 くEt la lune descend sur le temple qui fut>, 그리고 <Poissons d‘or> 의 세곡으로 이루어져 있으며 각각의 곡들에는 그의 새로운 인상주의적 기법들이 잘 나타나 있다. 드뷔시는 [Images Ⅱ] 에서 불협화적인 화성진행과 부가화음 등을 사용하였는데, 이것은 동양적인 온음음계와 5음음계, 혹은 선법과 함께 곡 전체의 분위기를 이끌어가고있으며, 불규칙한 리듬과 이국적인 리듬은 신비한 느낌이 들게 한다. くCloches a ｀travers les feuilles> 에서 나타난 온음음계와 5음음계, 그리고 병행화음들은 제목에서 알 수 있듯이 종소리와 바람에 흔들리는 나뭇잎 소리를 묘사함으로써 회화적 느낌을 주며, <Et la lune desend sur le temple qui fut> 또한 5도 병행화음과 부가화음 등의 사용으로 동양적인 신비감을 표현하려 하였다. <Poissons d‘or> 는 세 곡 중에서 가장 회화적 표현이 잘 나타나 있는 곡으로 군집화음(cluster)이 사용되었으며 금붕어가 물 속에서 움직이는 모습을 잘 그려내고 있다. 본 논문에서는 피아노 작품에서 볼 수 있는 드뷔시의 음악적 경향과 피아노 곡 [Images Ⅱ]에서 그의 새로운 기법이 어떻게 표현 되었는지 알아보았다.;Claude Achille Debussy is a French composer who has made one of the biggest contributions to 20th century music. He represents impressionism, which has flourished from 1880 to the end of 19th century. Impressionism is a system or concept, which attempts to portray one's impressions in simple and pure forms, much the same way as what impressionist painters had attempted. Debussy had resorted to a number of unconventional techniques in order to introduce the new concepts into his music-non-functional harmonies such as 7th, 9th and added note had played an important role in differentiating his music as impressionist. His new techniques are most frequently spotted in his piano pieces and ImagesⅡ could serve as a good example. ImagesⅡ consists of 3 paces; Cloches a travers les feuilles, Et la lune descend sur le temple qui fut and Poissons d'or. He used added note chord, dissonant chord and parallel chord as new styles. He introduced Mode emerged from major& minor scale, in the point of melody, and also used whole tone scale, pentatonic scale and exotic scale. He was willing to use such the rhythm of irregular pattern like polyrhythm and exotic rhythm. The characteristics which are prominent in <Cloches a travers les feuilles>, the first piece, are echo sound by pedal and suing of whole tone scale·pentatonic. In the second piece, <Et la lune descend sur le temple Qui fut>, examples of using oriental image and added note chord are seen clearly. (Poissons d'or) , the third piece, is the marrow of ImagesⅡ and best represents impressionism. Through our effort to analyse ImagesⅡ, we learned about a number of techniques Debussy had used in order to create a new style of music and that these techniques had contributed in making him the most influential composer in 20th century.
