동아시아의 문화적 특성에 의한 환경디자인 접근방법에 관한 연구

Abstract

이 논문은 '문화의 시대'의 새로운 디자인 컨셉으로서 동아시아 문화의 특성 및 가치를 정의하고 디자인적 표현 요건을 규명하며, 이를 효과적으로 전달하기 위한 총체적인 디자인 연출 과정에 관한 연구이다. 동아시아 문화의 디자인적 가치에 대한 제안은 가치관의 변화와 시대적 흐름에 따른 자연적인 요구이며 미래 사회에 필연적으로 규명되어야 할 논제로서, 이와 관련하여 현대의 시대적 변화 추세를 살펴보면, 첫째, 지금까지 열등한 것으로만 인식되어 오던 동양문화의 근간을 이루는 원리들은 시스템적 세계관, 생태학적 세계관 등의 새로운 가치관과 상당 부분 합치되는 면을 가지고 있으며, 따라서 이를 통하여 세계 문화의 흐름을 주도해 오던 서구문화의 모순점들을 설명하려는 경향이 늘고 있다. 둘째, 근대사회에 이르기까지 기능 위주로 일관되어 오던 미(美)의식이 현대에는 인간 중심의, 개성적이고 차별화된 것을 선호하는 경향으로 변화하고 있다. 셋째, 자문화에 대한 인식의 변화와 전통 문화의 가치 보존에 대한 필요성이 대두되면서 세계화 시대의 새로운 가치체계로서 문화적 정체성 회복의 움직임이 활발하다. 이러한 관점을 토대로 본 연구는, 환경디자인 측면에서 나타나는 동아시아 문화의 고유한 특성을 발견하고 이를 디자인에 응용하는 방법론을 제시함으로서 창조적 디자인 컨셉으로의 발전 가능성을 시사하는 방향으로 진행하고자 한다. 연구의 과정을 요약해 보면, 1. 현 시대의 패러다임의 변화에 따른 문화적 가치의 변화를 이해하고, 문화와 환경의 관계성에 대한 고찰을 통하여 연구의 기반을 마련한다. 2. 동양문화와 서양문화의 기원과 형성 과정, 관계성 및 차이점 등을 크게 자연적 측면과 문화·사상적 측면, 조형·공간적 측면 등으로 나누어 고찰함으로써 두 문화간의 근본적인 차이점과 상대적 가치를 이해하도록 한다. 3. 연구의 대상을 동일 문화권 내의 동아시아 주요 3국(한, 중, 일)으로 한정하고, 문화인류학적 관점에서 네 가지의 범주, 즉 생태학적 측면, 언어학적 측면, 사상적 측면, 사회·문화적 측면으로 나누어 3국의 비교연구를 통해 동아시아 문화의 기반을 이해하도록 한다. 4. 한·중 일 3국의 전통주거환경 분석을 통해 환경디자인 측면에서 친자연, 인간화, 중용(조화)의 가치로서 동아시아 문화의 특성을 규명하고, 각각의 특성에 대한 사례 연구를 통하여 본 연구의 디자인 적용 과정의 전개를 위한 준거의 틀을 추출한다. 5. 추출된 각 준거의 틀에 기초한 가상공간에서의 실험적 적용 과정을 통하여 개념적 가치와 조형적 가치 등으로 연결되는 디자인과 공간 계획 방법을 도출하고, 평가에 대한 예를 제시함으로써 모든 연구의 내용을 마무리한다. 세계주의(Globalism)와 민족주의(Nationalism)가 공존하는 앞으로의 시대에는 범세계적인 보편성 위에서 자문화의 가치와 정체성을 확립하는 것이 중요한 문제이다. 이는 한 문화의 주체로서의 인식을 가지고, 자문화를 바로 이해하며, 또한 그것을 어떻게 확립하고 보전하는가에 의해 그 가치가 실현될 수 있을 것이다. 이 논문은 하나의 문화권으로서 새로운 시대적, 미적 감각에 대해 인정받을 수 있는 보편적 가능성을 내재한 동아시아 문화 고유의 가치를 발견해 내고자 하는 데에 연구의 의의를 둔다. 그리고 동아시아 문화는 한국 문화의 기저가 되는 것으로, 나아가 한국의 미래 환경에 적합한 디자인 접근 방법을 유추해 낼 수 있을 것을 기대한다.;This thesis is the study on the process of total design direction of which the purpose is to define features, and values of the East Asian culture as a new design concept in the 'culture age' and find out conditions of designlike expression and convey this finding effectively. The proposal about the value of the East Asian culture in terms of design is a natural requirement in the current stream of times and a subject to be examined in the future. With regard to this matter, the following shows the modern change of times; First, the root principles of the oriental culture which have been considered inferior have a considerable overlapping with systematic world view, ecological outlook, etc. Therefore, there are trends toward explaining the contradictions of the worldwide, dominant Western culture by that of the East. Second, perception of beauty comes to favor objects which are human-oriented, individual, distinct in the late modem times although it has been attracted to the function up until the modem society. Last but not least, with the emergence of perception change about the endemic culture and the necessity to preserve the tradition, the movement to recover the cultural identity as a new value system in the age of globalzation is prevailing. On the basis of this view, this thesis is to discover the inherent features of the East Asian culture in the view of environmental design. And by presenting the methodology which applies the above finding to the design, this thesis will proceeds in the direction of suggesting the possible development of the creative design concept. The procedures of the study is as follows; 1. The stepping stone of the study is provided through understanding the due to paradigm change in this period and transformation of the cultural value examining the relationship between culture and environment. 2. By researching the oriental and occidental cultures in terms of the origin, formation, relation and differences which should be divided into broad branches, that is, natural, cultural and ideological, formative and spatial aspects, and so on, this thesis makes it possible to understand the fundamental differences and relativities between the two cultures. 3. The objects of the study are limited to three countries (Korea, China, and Japan) which have been considered as having the same cultural genesis. From the viewpoint of cultural anthropology, the foundation of the East Asian culture is going to be understood through comparing the triple countries, examining four categories, namely, ecological, linguistic, ideological, and socio-cultural respects. 4. Through analyzing the traditional housing environment of the three countries(Korea, China, and Japan), this stage is expected to find the features of the East Asian culture as a value of pro-nature, humanization, and moderation(harmony) in the view of environmental design. And it is to extract the reference frames for applying processes of the design by studying the examples for the respective features. 5. According to each reference frame, this study is to derive the design and spatial planning methods which are associated with conceptual and plastic values, and so forth through the experimental applying processes in the imaginative space. And then, this thesis gives the finishing touch by presenting examples about the evaluation. What counts in the upcoming age of coexistance of Globalism and Nationalism is to establish the value and identity of the vernacular culture based upon commality of the world. This important matter can be resolved by recognizing oneself as the subject of a culture, understanding right one's own culture, and setting up and preserving the culture. The significance of this thesis is to discover the intrinsic value of the East Asian culture which is thought of as possessing the recognizable univeral potential about an epochal and aesthetic sense as a single culture. Additionally, the East Asian culture is the foundation of the Korean culture and from this fact, this thesis expects to infer the design approach appropriate for the future environment of Korea.
