윤유승의 "Three movements for three cellos" (1997) 분석

Abstract

This thesis is an analysis of "Three Movements for Three Cellos"(1997) which is composed of three chapters, and this work was composed by me for one of the graduation concerts for the completion of my master's degree. The necessicity of the study is to present the possible unity and variety in the musical arrangement of the same kind instrument, and the main point of the stdy will be to express the various playing methods and tone colors of the cello with wide range as a stringed musical instrument and the same playing methods and tone colors that three cellos can make in a musical genre. This work which is composed of three movements has different musical materials in each movement. The first movement is a work based on 12 tones completed as a systematical technique by Arnold Schoenberg(l874∼1951), which can be called to be the most important composing method in 20century, and the second movement was composed of rhythm, half tones and whole tones based on value added rhythmical theory of Oliver Messiaen(l908∼1993). The third movement was composed of tutti and solo and in each subsection motive elements were developed to be used in repetition or expansion in part, and 4th Augmented and second minor of musical intervals which are the centering point of the movement were emphatically used in many parts of the movement. As described in the above, the reason why the work was composed of three movements different from each other in musical materials within a musical work is thought to be the desire to express the varieties of modern music which are expressed in various contents through the process of learning modem music by using different musical materials in each movement based on the unity of the same musical instrument of three cellos in one musical work. Like this, the musical materials and variety of expression ways in the "Three Movements for Three Cellos"(1997) can be appreciated, too even though the work is composed for the same musical instrument.;본 논문을 본인의 석사학위 이수를 위한 졸업연주회 작품 중 하나인 3악장으로 구성된 "Three Movements for Three Cellos" (1997)의 분석을 한 것이다. 연구의 필요성은 동종의 악기편성에서 나타날 수 있는 단일성과 다양성을 나타내 보고자 했으며, 현악기로써 넓은 음역을 가지고 있는 Cello가 보유한 다양한 주법과 음색 등을 세 개의 악기를 통하여 음악적으로 표현하는 것에 그 중점을 두었다. 세 개의 악장으로 구성된 본 작품은 각각의 악장마다 음악적인 재료를 달리하고 있다. 제 1악장은 20세기의 가장 중요한 작곡기법이라 할 수 있으며, Arnold Schoenberg(1874-1951)에 의해 체계적인 기법으로 완성된 12음 음악기법에 기초한 작품이며 제 2악장은 O1ivier Messiaen(1908-1993)의 첨가가치 리듬이론에 기초를 둔 리듬과 반음, 온음으로 구성된 음계를 기초로 구성하였다. 제 3악장은 tutti와 solo의 대비로 구성되었고 각각의 subsection마다 동기요소가 부분적으로 반복 또는 확대된 형태로 발전하며 사용되었으며, 중심이 되는 증4도와 단2도의 음정이 곡의 여러 부분에서 강조되며 쓰였다. 이와같이 하나의 작품안에 음악적인 재료를 달리하는 3악장으로 구성한 이유는 현대음악을 학습하는 과정에서 다양한 내용들로 표현되는 현대음악을 하나의 작품안에서 세 개의 동일한 악기라는 통일성 위에 서로 다른 음악적 재료를 사용하여 다양성을 나타내려 한 의도이다. 이상으로 "Three Movements for Three Cellos"(1997) 는 동일한 악기로 구성되어 있지만 각 악장마다 음악적 소재와 표현방법의 다양성을 찾아 볼 수 있을 것이다.
