「물」을 주제로 한 인상주의 피아노 작품 연구

Abstract

This dissertation researches and studies for number four Les Jeux d'eaux a｀ la Villa d'Este among three volumes of Anne´es de pelerinage, number one Reflets dans l'Eau among Images l'ere Se｀rie by Claude Achille Debussy(1862-1918), Jeux d'Eau by Maurice Joseph Ravel(1875-1937), and number three The Fountain of Acqua Paola among Roman sketches op.7 by Charles Tomlinson Griffes(1884-1920). With the expression in terms of Impressionism by these composers, I focus on the relationship among the social background and literature and paintings of Impressionism and take a look at the characteristics of the impressionistic music to approach the right understanding of this dissertation. Another purpose of impressionistic music is to help the performance of impressionistic music by studying how the composer's musical notations( form, harmony, melody, key, rhythm and so on ) were written based on the background of musical works. In post-Romantic period, the key is already weakening and heading toward the Impressionism. The use of the whole-note scale, pentatonic scale, a chromatic scale and mode by Liszt in his post-music works influences on the weakeness of the key which also affects the Impressionism and 20th century's composers. The most representing impressionistic composers are Debussy and Ravel to whom Liszt gave the idea of impressionistic notation in terms of his post Romantic works. Griffes who is American modem composer uses a variety of style and his mid-musical works were greatly influenced by Impressionism. Impressionistic painters and poets like to use the concept of a hint which expresses the image related to mobility rather than stability. Like impressionistic painters and poets, impressionistic composers also enjoy using the material, water in nature, to their changing things. The 2nd and 3rd of Les jeux d'eauxa｀la Villa d'Este by Liszt are about cypress, and the 4th is about the fountain, all of which are related to Villa d'Este. Reflets dans l'eau by Debussy is most representative musical work establishing the piano work of Impressionism and requires a sensible expression associated with the clarity of water. Jeux d'Eau by Ravel spread out the flows of water softly and gently by way of arpeggio as the parabola described from the fountain. The Fountain of Acqua Paola by Griffes manifests his pictorial and natural music works by describing a poem as a music.;본 논문은 Franz Liszt(1811-1886)의 Annees de pelerinage (순례의 연보) 3권 중 제 4번 Les Jeux d'eaux a la Villa d'Este (에스테장의 분수), Claude Achille Debussy (1862-1918)의 Images 1'ere Serie (영상 1집) 중 제 1번 Reflets dans 1'Eau (물의 반영), Maurice Joseph Ravel (1875-1937)의 Jeux d'Eau (물의 유희), 그리고 Charles Tomlinson Griffes(1884-1920)의 Roman sketches op.7 (로마의 스케치)중 제 3번 The Fountain of Acqua Paola (파올라의 샘물)에 대해 연구한 것이다. 이들은 물이라는 소재를 통해 인상주의의 어법으로 작품을 표현했는데 올바른 이해에 접근하는 방법으로 시대적 배경과 회화, 문학과의 관계를 살피고 인상주의 음악의 특성을 살펴보았다. 또한 본 논문은 작품배경을 토대로 작곡가들의 형식, 화성, 선율, 조성, 리듬 등의 음악 어법이 어떻게 쓰였는지를 연구하여 인상주책 음악의 연주에 도움을 주는 것을 목적으로 한다. 후기 낭만시대에서는 이미 조성이 약화되면서 인상주의로 향하고 있었다. Liszt의 후기 작품에 온음음계, 오음음계, 반음음계, 선법 등의 사용은 조성감을 흐리는 요소로 작용하였다. 이것은 인상주의와 나아가 20세기 작곡가들에게까지 영향을 미쳤다. 인상주의의 대표적인 작곡가는 Debussy와 Ravel이고 Liszt는 낭만시대에 후기작품을 통해 이미 인상주의 어법을 씀으로 이들에게 영향을 주었다. Griffes는 미국의 현대작곡가로 다양한 스타일의 작곡어법을 쓰고 있지만 인상주의가 그의 중기작품에 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 인상주의 화가나 시인들은 암시라는 개념을 추구했는데 이것은 사물을 있는 그대로 표현하기 보다는 시시각각 변하는 유동성과 연상되는 이미지를 표현한 것이다. 인상주의 작곡가들도 변화하는 사물을 자연 속의 「물」이라는 소재로 즐겨 사용했다. Liszt의 Les jeux d'eaux a' la Villa d'Este는 Villa d'Este와 연관된 2, 3, 4번 중 2, 3번에 cypress(細杉木)에 관한 것이고, 4번은 분수에 관한 것이다. 이 작품은 풍부한 수자원을 이용한 다양한 모양의 분수를 건반 위에 묘사하고 있다. Debussy의 Reflets dans 1' eau는 인상주의의 피아노 곡을 확립한 대표적인 작품으로 물 속의 투명함에서 연상되는 감각적인 표현을 요구한다. Ravel의 Jeux d'Eau는 분수가 그리는 포물선과 같은 arpeggio로 고아하고 온화하게 물의 흐름을 전개해나간다. Griffes의 The fountain of Acqua Paola는 시를 음악적으로 잘 묘사하여 회화적이고 자연적인 작품 세계를 표현하고 있다. 이들은 비교적 자유로운 3부 형식과 온음음계, 오음음계, 선법, 음향을 두텁게 하기 위한 선율중복, 비규칙적인 화성을 사용함으로 인상주의 음악의 회화적이고 환상적인 작품을 완성하였다.
