졸업 연주회 프로그램을 중심으로 한 H. Purcell, W.A. Mozart, R. Schumann, C.C. Saint-Saeens, H. Villa-Lobos의 성악작품에 대한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 필자의 석서과정 이수를 위한 졸업연주회 프로그램의 작품들을 연구ㆍ분석한 것으로 각 작곡가의 음악적인 배경과 작품의 특징을 살펴본 것이다. 17세기 영국을 대표하는 작곡가 Henry Purcell(1659~1695)은 짧은 생애동안 많은 작품을 남겼으며, 특히 opera와 극음악을 포함한 말은 가곡들은 어떤 형식에도 구애받지 않은 다양한 형태로 작곡된 것으로 높은 예술성을 보이고 있다. 그 가운데 <We sing to Him>, <Music for a while), <Sweeter than roses>, <If Music be the food of Love>는 단어의 반복, 선율의 장식, word-painting 같은 수사적 기법을 사용하여 가사의 뜻과 음악과의 밀접한 관계를 보여준다. 고전주의 시대의 음악을 대표하는 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart(1756∼1791)는 opera를 비롯한 많은 성악곡을 작곡했으며, Concert Aria는 57곡을 남겼다. 이 가운데 K.217 <Voi avete uncor fedele>는 Inserted Aria²)로서 화려한 scale과 Tempo의 변화, f와 p와의 대조적인 사용으로 극적인 요소가 강조되어 있는 아름다운 곡이다. 낭만주의 시대의 중요한 작곡가 R. Schumann(1810∼1856)은 Franz Schubert의 뒤를 이어 독일 예술가곡을 발전시켰으며, Goethe의 시에 의한 <Lieder und Gesa¨nge aus "Wilhelm Meister"> Op.98a No. 1.3.5.9곡은 시의 서정성을 잘 표현한 곡으로 그의 특징인 시와 노래와 반주와의 조화를 잘 나타낸 작품이다. 프랑스 후기 낭만주의 시대의 작곡가인 Charles Camille Saint-Sae¨ns(1835∼1921)은 다재 다능한 인물로 여러 쟝르에 걸쳐서 다양한 형태로 작곡하였다. 그의 가곡 가운데 <Aimonsnous>, <L'Attente>, <Le Bonheur est chose le′ge｀re>는 일관성 있게 연주되어지는 반주부에 의해 극적이고 인상적이며, 단순하면서도 서정적인 분위기를 표현하고 있다. 20세기 초 브라질의 가장 유명한 작곡가인 Heiter Villa Lobos(1887∼1959)는 브라질의 민속음악적인 요소와 자신의 즉흥성을 결합하여 작곡하였다. Soprano와 8대의 Cello ensemble을 위한 <Bachianas Brasileiras> No.5 역시 이러한 특징이 잘 나타나 있으며, 서정적인 아름다움과 기교적인 화려함을 지니고 있다.;In this thesis, author studied and analysed the musical backgrounds, features and composers of each works which students had practised for the graduation recital for the completion of Master of Music degree. Henry Purcell (1659∼1695), one of the representitive composers of the 17th century in England, produced many works for his brief lifetime, especially many operas and incidental music for the Restoration theatre which were not limited by a certain form but attemped by various ones, which shows the high degree of artistry. Among them, in the titles such as "We sing to Him", "Music for a while", "Sweeter than roses" and "If Music be the food of Love" he used rhetorical techniques such as repetition of same word, decoration of melody and word-painting, and then showed that the songs above match the meaning and the music. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756∼1791) who represents the music of the classical period composed many vocal musics, the operas, and he left 57 pieces for the concert Aria. Among these, K.217 "Voi avete un cor fedele" as an Inserted Aria is a beautiful one. In this piece he lays an emphasis on the dramatic elements by adapting the colorful or splendid scale and the change of tempo and by using f and p contrastively. Succeeding to Franz Schubert. Robert Schumann (1810∼1856), an important one of Romantic composers developed the German lied. And the piece of No. 1, 3, 5, 9 of "Lieder und Gesa¨nge aus 'Wilhelm Meister'" Op. 98a based on the poems of Goethe are the works express the poetic lyrism very well, and well shows his musical characteristics. Charles Camille Saint-Sae¨ns (1835∼1921) who was a versatile composer of the late romantic period in France composed a variety of works over various genre. Among his songs, "Animons - nous", "L'Attente", "Le Bonheur est chose le´ge｀re" express dramatic, impressive, simple and lyric atmosphere well, by the accompaniment being played with unity. Heiter Villa-Lobos (1887∼1959) who is the most famous composer of Brazil in the early 20th century composedd his works by combining the elements of Braazilian folk music and his impromptu character. In "Bachianas Brasileiras" No.5 for Sopano and 8 cello. ensemble also, he shows these characteristics of his well and the lyric beauty and technical colourfulness are being expressed well.
