D. Buxtehude의 Organ을 위한 Prelude and Fugue에 관한 소고

Abstract

Dietrich Buxtehude (1637-1707)는 Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) 이전의 북독일 악파의 대표적인 Organist겸 작가로서 그의 탁월한 독창성과 다양한 작품양식으로 중기 독일 Baroque 예술의 최고봉을 이루고 있다. 종교개혁 이후 이 당시 독일의 신교 교회는 예배의식에서 음악이 중요한 요소를 이루고 있었으며 그 결과 Buxtehude의 작품도 예배의식과 관련된 chorale을 기초로 한 작품을 비롯해서 Prelude, Fugue, Toccata 등이 중심이 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 그의 생애와 Organ음악의 일반적 특징과 함께 그의 중요한 양식의 하나인 Prelude and Fugue에 대한 형식과 음악적 특징을 살펴 보았다. 그의 Prelude and Fugue는 즉흥적인 성격의 Prelude와 다양한 대위법적 기법을 사용한 1-3곡의 Fugue로 구성되는데 각각은 분명하게 대조를 이루고 있지만 서로 주제적 요소의 밀접한 연관성을 볼 수 있다. 이러한 특징은 부분간의 통일성을 유지 시킴으로 음악적인 통일성을 부여 하기위한 노력으로 보인다. 또한 그는 풍부한 작곡양식으로 여러가지 음악적 요소를 결합시키고 있으며 리듬 구조에 있어서 기계적인 것에서 환상적인 것에 이르는 다양성, 반음계적 선율진행, 갑자기 나타나는 침묵, Echo 효과 기교적인 Pedal solo, 건반과 Pedal의 대화적인 악구등의 음악적 기법은 그의 풍부한 환상과 창의력 있는 작품세계를 보여준다. 위에서 살펴본 바와 같이 그의 Prelude and Fugue는 끊임없는 변화와 다양성을 추구하면서 그 모든 것에 통일성을 부여하기에 노력하고 있는 것을 알 수 있다.;Dietrich Buxtehude (1637-1707), a representative organist and composer of North German School before Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), reached the highest point of German mid-Baroque music with his excellent originality and various patterns. At that time after the Reformation, music played a very important role at the service ceremony of German Protestant churches, so Buxtehude mainly composed the works including Prelude, Fugue, Toccata on the basis of Chorale related to service ceremony. In this thesis, the form an musical character of Prelude and Fugue, which is one of his own important patterns, are examined in addition to his whole life and the generality of organ music. His Prelude and Fugue is composed of 1-3 Fugues, in which improvisatorial Prelude and counterpoint technique are used. And even though each Fugue shows good contrast with each other, close relationship among each theme also can be found. This outstanding character is thought to be the result of his effort to give his works a musical unity keeping each part unified. Combining various musical elements with his own abundant pattern, Buxtehude showed his music world, which is full of rich fantansy and creativity, with his variety from mechanical to fantastic techniques, progression of chromatic melody, sudden silence, echo effect, technical pedal solo, and dialogue passage of manuel and pedal. So we come to know that Buxtehude pursued endless changes and variety trying to give them a unity in his Prelude and Fugue.
