Franz liszt의 가곡에 대한 연구

Abstract

As a leading composer of 19^(th) century Romanticism, Franz Liszt (1811-1886) created the genre of 'symphonic poem', and left around 700 works in various fields of music-piano, orchestra, vocal, sacred choir choral. In this study, the author examined three art songs of Liszt which are not renowned compared with the other type of works. Among 70 songs f his, typical songs of each period were analyzed；'Enfant, si j'e^(′)tais roi˝ of the first period, "Ein Fishtenbaun einsam" of the second period, and "Verlassen" of the third period. The examination contains a synthesis of the general features of Lizst's art songs and the typical features of each period such as the vocal line, the accompaniment, the structure of harmony, modulation, rhythm, and form, There is also the analysis of each song. The songs of Liszt typically are appealing to the audience just like his works of other genres. His songs have dramatic characteristic similar to opera, rather than to Lied. In the accompaniment, there are technical and exaggerated progressions such as huge chords, continuous progress of chromatic octaves, extremely expanded scale, extended arpeggio, and leaps of octave or tenths. Generally, the accompaniment is very colorful, which is some times considered a problem in Liszt's songs, but he escaped from this tendency as time went on, and in the third period, it became simplified and subordinate to the vocal line and the text. Liszt composed songs to texts in diverse languages such as German, French, English, and Italian. His themes were such as love, death, peace and religion which became the theme of his later period. In terms of harmony, modulations is often displayed in songs of the first period. On the other hand, in the second and the third periods, the main tonality is not so often changed and augmented and diminished intervals are used increasingly. In the third period, instead of the traditional style, the harmonic line of the diminished 7^(th), and the augmented 9^(th) make the songs colorful. This kind of harmony of Liszt suggested a new type of nineteenth century music, and is considered to have contributed much to the modern music of the twentieth century.;19세기 낭만 음악의 주요 작곡가인 Franz Liszt (1811-1886)는 교향시라는 새로운 장르의 창시자로서, 피아노곡, 관현악곡, 성악곡, 종교곡, 합창곡 등 전반적인 분야에 걸쳐 700여곡에 이르는 다작을 남긴 인물이다. 본 논문은 비교적 다른 분야에 비해 덜 알러져 있는 Liszt의 가곡을 여러 문헌과 악보를 통해 고찰한 것으로, 본인의 졸업 연주회 프로그램이었던 Liszt 초기 프랑스 가곡들에 대해 연구하던 중 그의 가곡 작곡 경향이 시기에 따라 많은 변화를 거치고 있음에 관심을 갖고 여러 참고 자료를 통해 각 시기의 대표적인 작품 중에서 시기별 특징이 잘 드러나는 작품 - 1기의 "Enfant, si j'e´tais Roi", 2기의 "Ein fichtenbaum einsam", 3기의 "Verlassen"-을 대상으로 Liszt의 가곡에 관하여 분석 연구한 것이다. 본 연구는 Liszt의 전반적인 가곡 특징과 성악성율 및 반주부, 화성 구조 및 전조, 리듬, 악상 등에 관한 시기별 특징을 종합하고 각 가곡들을 분석하는 내용으로 이루어졌으며 그 결과 다음과 같은 특징을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. Liszt의 가곡은 다른 장르와 마찬가지로 청중의 감정에 호소하는 서정적인 것으로 극적인 대조와 화려한 기교를 동반하며, 기존의 리트 보다는 오페라에 가까운 극적인 성격을 띄고 있다. 반주부에는 음이 중복된 화음, 옥타브 이도에 의한 반음계적 진행, 극단적으로 확대된 음계 연주, 화음선을 길게 펼쳐 놓은 아르페지오, 8도나 10도를 넘나드는 도약 등의 기교적이고 화려한 진행이 나타나는데, 전체적으로 풍부한 색채감을 띄고 있는데 반주부에의 이러한 치중은 Liszt 가곡의 문제점으로 제기되기도 하나 시기를 거듭 할수록 이러한 경향을 탈피하고 있으며, 3 시기인 말기에 이르면 반주의 형태가 단순화하면서 성악부의 선율이나 가사에 따라 종속적인 기능을 하고 있다. Liszt는 독일어, 불어, 영어, 이태리어 등 다양한 언어에 곡을 붙였으며 시의 주제 역시 사랑, 죽음, 평화, 종교 등으로 광범위하며 말기로 갈수록 종교적인 색채가 짙어지고 있다. 화성을 살펴 보면 잦은 전조가 1기의 가곡에서 많이 나타나고 있는데 2기와 3기를 거치면서 곡 전체의 주조는 자주 변화하지 않으면서 변화 화성과 증, 감음정의 사용이 많아 지고 있다. 3기에 이르면 고전적인 형식에서 탈피한 감 7화음의 화음선이나 증음정의 진행, 온음음계 (Whole-tone scale)이 나타나고 있으며, 확대된 화음형과 감7화음, 9화음, 증, 감화음의 진행은 그의 음악에 색채감을 부여하고 있다. 이러한 Liszt의 화성은 19세기 음악에 새로운 전형을 제시하는 것이며, 20세기 근대 음악에 커다란 공헌을 한 것으로 평가 받고 있다.
