학교도서관의 독서교육프로그램 모형개발 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 학교도서관에서 학교교육과 연계하여 학생들의 독서에 대한 관심을 유발하고 독서습관을 형성하게 하며, 동시에 교과학습의 흥미를 자극할 수 있는 독서교육 프로그램을 개발하는 데 있다. 이러한 목적을 이루기 위해 본 연구에서는 문헌연구, 면담조사, 내용분석의 방법을 사용하였다. 문헌연구를 통해서는 독서교육 프로그램을 마련하고 실행할 사서교사와 학교도서관의 역할을 규명하고, 프로그램 개발시 고려해야 할 여러 사항들을 살펴보았다. 그리고, 학교도서관을 직접 담당하고 있는 사서교사와의 면담을 통하여 학교도서관 독서교육의 문제점을 조사하였다. 내용분석방법으로는 교과서를 분석하여 독서교육 프로그램 개발의 기본 자료를 마련하였다. 분석항목은 인명과 서명이며, 분석대상은 중학교 1학년 교과서로, 필수교과목 중 국어(1학기, 2학기), 수학, 도덕, 사회, 가정, 음악, 미술, 체육, 산업·기술, 과학 등 10개 교과목의 11개 교과서로 국한하였다. 분석결과 교과서에 출현한 서명은 35권으로, 인명은 약 250여 명으로 나타났다. 인명의 경우 다시 분석한 결과, 한 교과서 내에서 2회 이상 또는 여러 교과서에서 중복되어 출현한 인명은 40명으로 나타났으며, 이를 통해 독서교육 프로그램의 각 주제인물을 구성하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 학교도서관의 독서교육 프로그램은, 첫째, 학생들이 바른 인격과 가치관을 형성하게 하고, 둘째, 독서습관을 형성하고 독서를 생활화하여 평생 독자가 되도록 하며, 셋째, 교과서 중심의 학교교육을 보완한다는 세 가지 목표를 가진다. 이를 달성하기 위하여 독서환경을 조성하고, 다양한 독서활동을 제공하여 자유로운 자기표현의 기회를 가지게 하며, 독서자료나 주제를 교과과정과 연결시키고 교과학습에서 다루지 못한 내용을 경험하게 하여 교과교육의 부족한 점을 보완 하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 학교도서관 독서교육 프로그램은 학교의 교육과정에 편성된 특별활동의 하나로 또는 학교도서관을 중심으로 자발적으로 모인 학생들의 독서모임활동을 위한 활동계획으로 개발하였다. 대상은 중학교 1학년생으로, 매주 1회 실시되는 것으로 중학교 수업 1시간이 45분임을 고려하여 90분의 수업이 되도록 구성하였다. 독서자료는 학생들의 독서흥미를 유도하기 위해 시청각자료와 인쇄자료를 함께 사용하였으며, 가치관을 형성하기 시작하는 청소년들에게 바람직한 동일시 대상을 제공하는 데 도움을 주기 위해 전기자료를 주자료로 하였다. 또한 언어활동, 예술활동, 놀이활동 등 다양한 활동으로 학생들의 적극적인 참여를 유도하며 자유롭게 자신을 표현할 수 있는 기회를 제공하였다. 독서교육 프로그램은 일년의 전반적인 계획을 제시한 연간 프로그램, 이를 기반으로 한 월간 프로그램과 개별 프로그램으로 구성된다. 첫째, 연간 프로그램은 일년동안의 독서교육 일정계획표로 교과서분석을 통하여 선정된 인물들을 주제에 따라 구분한 뒤, 각 교과에서의 지도시기를 고려하여 월별로 2-4명의 주제인물을 배정하였다. 한 예를 들면, 뉴턴, 갈릴레이, 아리스토텔레스는 과학자라는 공통점으로 동일 주제가 되었으며, 뉴턴은 3월(체육), 4월(국어), 갈릴레이는 6월(국어)에 교과학습의 내용으로 다루어지므로 독서교육의 지도시기는 교과학습 지도시기와 4월이 과학의 달이라는 특성을 고려하여 4월로 결정되었다. 둘째, 월간 프로그램은 독서 활동목표와 활동내용으로 구성되며, 각 활동의 내용과 방법을 자세하게 제시한 구체적인 운영계획안이다. 4월의 경우, 과학자들의 삶을 통해 과학을 생활 속에서 느끼게 한다는 교육목표 아래, 강연과 실험, 독서, 특징적인 정보찾기, 퀴즈놀이, 성우 흉내내기 등의 활동으로 구성하였다. 셋째, 개별 프로그램은 월별 프로그램의 활동내용 중 자세한 설명을 필요로 하는 활동을 제시한 것으로 활동내용과 활동목표, 준비자료 등을 구성요소로 하였으며 4월의 경우, 특징적인 정보찾기 활동이 개별 프로그램에서 설명되었다. 본 연구는 교과과정과 연계하여 학교도서관에서 적용가능한 독서교육 프로그램을 개발한 연구로 학교교육에서 독서교육의 방향과 내용을 구체적으로 제시하였다는 의의를 가지며 앞으로 다양한 독서교육 프로그램 개발에 기반이 되고자 하였다.;The purpose of this paper is to develop a school library reading guidance program that will form good reading habit and stimulate the learning interest of the middle school students for supporting curriculum. For this study, literature survey, interview and content analysis are used as the research methods. Through the literature survey, the goals of school library, the roles of school librarian, supporting curriculum services in school library, and much matters to be considered when reading guidance programs are developing are found. In order to grasp current problems of school libraries, interviewing school librarians is carried out. In content analysis, the analysis items are human names and book titles, the objects of analysis are eleven textbooks(mathematics, science, social science, music, art, physical education and so forth) of the first grade students in the middle school. As a result of content analysis, book titles are thirty-five and names presented more than two in one textbook or multiple in diverse textbooks are forty. These names come into subject items of the reading program. The goals of the program are to make the students have a sound common sense and good reading habit, and supply insufficient textbook-centered school education. This program is intended to weekly meeting for curriculum or volunteer reading club and ninety-minute class. In this program, reading materials are audio-visual and print materials. Reading activities include language activities, art activities, and recreation activities. This reading guidance program consists of three parts. First, the yearly program as a schedule is given with monthly subject persons selected on the basis of result of content analysis, educational ends and weekly activities. Second, as a concrete scheme, monthly programs with educational objects and the methods of several activities are set. Third, individual programs supplement weekly activities. A curriculum-centered reading guidance program presented as the result of planning this study can be used in school library and be referenced in the new program.
