J. Thomas의 Cambria Duet 및 C. Salzedo의 Chanson dans la Nuit에 대한 소고

Abstract

John Thomas(1826~1913)와 Carlos Salzedo(1885~1961)는 Harpist이자 작곡가로서 Harp를 위한 곡을 많이 작곡·연주하였고 그들이 남긴 작품들은 연주자들에게 특별한 애호를 받고 있다. 본 논문은 석사과정 이수를 위한 졸업 연주회에서 연주했던 작품들 중에서 J.Thomas의 「Cambria Duet」와 C.Salzedo의 「Chanson dans la Nuit」를 분석한 것이다. 이 곡들을 분석함에 있어서는 연주기법과 곡의 구성, 선율의 발전 형태 등을 중심으로 하였고 분석을 통하여 살펴본 결과는 다음과 같다. 3악장으로 이루어진 J.Thomas의 「Cambria Duet」는 각 악장이 모두 휴지 없이 바로 다음 악장으로 이어지는 것이 다른 일반적인 3악장의 곡에서는 흔히 볼 수 없는 방법으로 모든 악장에서 상행 아르페지오, 반주부에서의 분산 화음 등이 주로 많이 나타난다. 또한 HarpⅠ과 HarpⅡ가 리듬의 변화를 통해 모방된 동형진행을 이루고, 화성 형식적인 면이 신 고전주의 경향이라고 볼 수 있는 간단한 Ⅰ-Ⅴ(Tonic-Dominant)의 진행을 많이 볼 수 있다. C.Salzedo의 「Chanson dans la Nuit」는 3화음, 부가화음, 변성화음, 이명동음을 사용한 아르페지오와 글리산도 사용으로 전통적인 화성진행에서 탈피하려는 움직임을 보여주며, Salzedo가 발명한 특이한 주법들이 잘 나타난 인상주의 Harp곡들 중 대표적인 작품이다.;This thesis is the analysis for 「Cambria Duet」 composed by John Thomas(1826∼1913) and 「Chanson dans la Nuit」 composed by Carlos Salzedo(1885∼1961) that are among pieces I have performed in my graduation recital for completion of the master's course. My view based on the analysis on above two pieces may be summarized as follows. Regarding 「Cambria Duet」 composed by John Thomas, this piece consists of three movements and without a pause, each movement is continued to the next one with showing ascending arpeggio, broken chord by the accompaniment and etc. Harp I & Harp Ⅱ form imitation sequence in the format of changed rhythm and this piece also shows the trend of neo-classicism by its harmony and format. With regard to 「Chanson dans la Nuit」 composed by Carlos Salzedo, it shows implementation of escaping from the traditional tonality by using of the third interval, additive harmony, mutation harmony, arpeggio with enharmony and glissando. 「Chanson dans la Nuit」, showing well Carlos Salzedo's own characteristic style of playing, is one of the best piece among ones for Harp of impessionisme.
