M. Ravel의 Ma me｀rel'oye에 관한 소고

Abstract

본 논문은 1912년에 작곡된 M. Ravel의 Ma me`re 1'oye에 관한 분석연구이다. 이 곡은 동화 Ma me`re 1'oye 중에서 뽑은 5개의 이야기, 즉 잠자는 숲 속의 미녀, 난장이 엄지 손가락 톰의 이야기, Pagodes의 여왕, 미녀와 야수, 요정의 정원을 음악으로 표현한 곡이다. 1908년에 피아노 연탄곡으로 작곡되었으며 그 후 18개월 뒤인 1912년 1월 28일에 발레를 위한 관현악곡으로 편곡되었다. 발레를 위한 완전한 무대용으로는 Prelude가 붙어 있으나 오 늘날에는 원곡인 연탄용과 똑같이 관현악 조곡으로써 연주된다. 이 곡은 Ravel의 음악 중에서 어린이의 세계를 음악적인 면이나 인간적인 면에서 가장 깊이 있게 표현했다라는 평을 받는 작품이다. 따라서 본 곡을 분석함으로써 Ravel이 시도했던 전통적인 기법과 새로운 기법을 어떻게 잘 조화시켰는지를 살펴보고 음악사에 있어서의 Ravel의 음악적, 시대적 배경과 아울러 Ravel의 독특한 음악언어를 알아보고자 한다. 우선 Ravel의 생애와 그의 작품의 특성을 살펴본 후 Ma me`re 1'oye에서의 전반적인 작곡기법을 분석, 연구하였는데 연구 결과 다음과 같은 점을 알 수 있었다. 전체는 5개의 악장으로 이루어졌으며 각 악장의 형식은 모두 고전적인 형식을 따르고 있으며 또한 각 악장마다 분명한 조성 혹은 선법을 가지고 있다. 화성은 전통적인 3화음에서 벗어나 7화음, 9화음을 많이 볼 수 있으며 다화성과 다조, 음송이 등이 나타나 현대적인 기법까지도 보여주고 있다. 선율은 대위법적인 진행을 하거나 화성적 진행 위에서 독자적인 선율 진행을 하기도 한다. 리듬은 주선율과 대선율 간에 혹은 각 부분 간에 리듬의 길이가 다른 리듬을 사용하여 리듬적인 대비를 이루며 또한 각 부분은 셈여림의 대비에 의해서도 특징 지워진다. 각 악장마다 독특한 타악기를 첨가하여 그 곡의 특징적인 분위기를 묘사하며 또한 부분적으로 5음음계나 반음계 등을 사용하여 이국적인 분위기를 자아내면서 Ravel의 독특한 작품세계를 나타내고 있다.;This thesis is study on Ravel's Ma me｀re l'oye, composed in 1912. Five stories have been chosen from the Ma me｀re l'oye and put into the form of music. Five stories are these; Pavane de la Belle au bois dormant, Petit Poucet, Laideronnette, Impe´ratrice des Pagodes, Les entretiens de la Belle et de la Be´te, Le jordin fe´erique. This work was composed for piano duet in 1908 and after 18 months, it was arranged to orchestral music for ballet on Jan. 25, 1912. For ballet, Prelude had been included, but in these days it plays as orchestral suit like piano duet. Among many Ravel's works, this has been received good reputation for its deepness in view of music and human aspect as well. Through the analysis of Ma me｀re l'oye, I take a first step considering how the traditional technique could be combined with the new one. And then study the musical, social backgrounds of Ravel's life time and his unique techniques. Above all, I review Ravel's life and characters of his works chronologically, then I analyze the Ma mere l'oye in the whole aspects of composition technique. From this analysis I summarize as follows. This work consists of 5 pieces. Each piece takes classical form and has distinguished tonality or mode. On the aspect of harmony, it contains polychord, polytonality, and tone cluster in addition to triad, seventh chord, ninth chord. In this respect it reveals a modern technique. As for melody, it does contrapuntal progression or independent melodic progression on harmonic structure. The rhythm is contrasted by using another rhythmic pattern And each between melody and counter-melody or among each part. part is characterized by contrast of dynamics. By dint of particular percussion, each piece describes characteristic atmosphere. And partially, the use of pentatonic scale or chromatic scale makes exotic atmosphere arise. These enables us to find out Ravel's unique world.
