노인의 성생활실태, 성인식 및 성생활만족도에 관한 연구

Abstract

우리나라는 1980년 3.8%이었던 노인 인구가 2005년에는 9.5%로 크게 증가하면서 고령사회에 본격적으로 진입하였고, 향후 2019년에는 14.4%로 증가할 것으로 전망되고 있다(통계청,2004). 이와같은 인구의 고령화는 노인의 다양한 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있는 사회 제도적 접근의 필요성과 노년기의 삶을 질적으로 향상시키기 위한 다차원적인 연구에 대한 관심을 증가시키고 있다. 이러한 노년기 삶의 질을 언급할 때 빼 놓을 수 없는 것이 노인의 성 문제이다. 노인은 무성적인 존재로 간주하는 사회적 편견과는 달리 성적인 욕구와 능력을 유지하고 있으며 실제적으로 활발한 성적활동을 유지하고 있다. 이에 노인의 성인식, 성생활, 성생활 만족도에 관한 연구는 노인의 삶의 질의 향상과 복지의 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 노인의 성생활 실태, 성인식, 성생활 만족도에 대해 살펴봄으로서 노인의 성에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓히고, 노인의 성과 관련된 효과적인 간호중재 프로그램의 개발에 필요한 기초 자료를 마련하고자 하는데 있다. 본 연구는 65세 이상 노인 179명을 대상으로 하여, 2005년 9월부터 10월까지 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 이루어졌다. 연구의 자료 분석은 SPSS 12.0WIN 통계 프로그램을 활용하였으며 빈도분석, 신뢰도분석, χ²-test, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation analysis를 시행하였다. 본 연구의 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 현재 성생활을 유지하고 있는 노인은 41.9%이었고, 성파트너는 배우자가 54.7%로 가장 많았다. 성생활 빈도는 ‘한달에 2-3회’가 가장 높게 나타났다. 2. 노인의 성인식도는 평균 2.27±0.74 로 높게 나타났으며, 영역별로는 성생활 태도 2.45가 가장 높았으며, 다음으로 성생활 욕구 2.23, 성생활 중요도 2.14순으로 나타났다. 3. 노인의 성생활만족도는 평균 2.84±0.91로 높게 나타났고, 문항별로는‘나는 배우자(또는 이성친구)와의 성생활에 만족한다’가 3.27점으로 가장 높게 나타났다. 4. 일반적인 특성에 따른 노인의 성생활 실태를 살펴본 결과 남성노인, 교육정도가 높은 고졸이상의 경우에서 현재 성생활 유지 비율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 5. 성인식은 남성노인이 여성노인보다 높은 성인식을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 60대, 고졸이상의 경우에서 성인식이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 성생활 만족도는 교육정도에 따라 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보여, 교육정도가 높은 고졸이상의 경우가 가장 높게 나타났다. 6. 노인의 성인식과 성생활 만족도 간에는 성인식의 하부영역인 성생활태도, 성생활 중요도, 성생활 욕구와 성생활만족도 간에 유의한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 성인식이 높을수록 성생활 만족도가 높음을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같이 연구 결과를 통해 인간의 성욕구와 성생활은 노년기에도 지속적으로 유지되고 있음을 알 수 있으며, 또한 성은 노인의 질적 삶을 위해 노년기 삶의 주요한 부분의 하나로 인정되어져야 한다.;Unlike the social prejudice that the elderly are asexual, they have sexual desire and capacity, and they are engaged in sexual activities actually. In addition, their sexual life may be a means of confirming their existence as human beings. With such a basic conception in mind, this study was aimed at surveying the elderly for their sexual life, their perception of sex, and satisfaction with it and thereby, widening the horizon of our understanding of their sex and thereupon, providing for some basic data useful to development of an effective nursing intervention program for their sexual problems. To this end, a questionnaire survey was conducted for 179 elderly people aged 65 or older for the period from September through October, 2005. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; 41.9% of the elderly were maintaining a sexual life, and spouses were sex partners for 54.7% of them. Most of the elderly had a sex 2~3 times a month. Their perception of sex scored high (M±SD 2.27±0.74), while their satisfaction with their sexual life also scored high (M±SD: 2.84±0.91). As a result of analyzing their sexual life, a higher rate of sex was found in the male elderly who had graduated from high school or higher and who were living only with their spouses. On the other hand, male elderly people's perception of sex was higher than females. In addition, their satisfaction with sexual life was correlated positively with their academic background. There was also found some positive correlation between their perception of sex and satisfaction with it. Namely, the higher their perception of sex was, they were more satisfied with their sexual life. Lastly, it was demonstrated through this study that the elderly people were maintaining their sexual desire and life continuously, and therefore, it is conceived that the elderly people's sex should be assessed and handled from a general perspective.
