Lace Weaving을 응용한 직물의 가변성 연구

Abstract

기본적으로 천이나 실을 포함하는 "섬유(Fiber)"는 그 감각적 특징인 촉감성, 유연성, 가변성 및 색채의 다양성으로 인해 현대 미술 상황 속에서 주목되고 있는 소재라 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 직물의 특성중 하나인 투명성과, 불투명성을 통한 시각적 중첩효과를 추구하고 관심을 집중하였는데 이러한 특징을 살릴 수 있는 방법으로 직물의 최소단위인 실을 직조하여 형태변이로의 효과를 충실히 표현하려 하였다. 조형적 메시지 전달을 위해 늘어뜨리고 공중에 매다는 행위를 통해 평면개념에서 공간개념으로의 과감한 물성변화의 시도로 시각적, 기술적 속성을 조합하였으며 3차원의 공간조형 및 공간에서의 가변적 형태가 색채변화에 의해 정적 혹은 동적인 움직임의 상황을 연출하였다. 추상적 형상으로부터 물성화시켜 제작한 유연한 직물작품을 일상의 삶 속으로 끌어들여 형태를 변형하여 설치함으로써 예술과 삶의 공간을 동일화 시켰다. 따라서 주변 환경에 동화, 변화할 수 있도록 제작한 작품은 예술가와 대중과의 상호 공유할 수 있는 건강한 대화로서의 역할을 수행하며, 이러한 직물의 가변적 시각효과를 중심으로 한 과정은 직물디자인이 인테리어 디자인의 중요한 한 양상으로서의 역할을 부여받을 수 있도록 하였다. 특히 Lace기법을 체계적으로 분석하여 접근함으로서 기술과 예술과의 관련성을 강조하였다. 이러한 직물작품이 삶의 도구적 기능뿐만 아니라 다양하고 다채로운 기술과 매체를 예술적으로 그리고 기능적으로 극대화 할 수 있을 것으로 기대하며 공간을 창출해내는 3차원의 입체직물은 앞으로 꾸준한 연구와 발전을 거듭해야 할 분야라고 본다.; Fiber Design means the formative activities performed, based on fiber materials, or their resulted conditions. Each sector of the order of fiber appears, based on the concept of the modern formative, to be in a latitudinal organic disposition so interlocked(inter-compromised) and in a combined style, and each pursues individula creation. Various expression of techniques in fiber nowadanys appears to be developed not only into the plane but, of course, into the three-dimensional shape which is characterrized with some three-dimensional features. The expression of any three-dimensional object is to create an object with a spatial background, therefore, the space is absolutely necessary as a basic element to form a cubic object. The order of fiber has a physically common feature of basing the unit of same kind of fiber, and a wide range of the potential of creation can be considered in that fiber design performed, based on textile, thread or yarn or fiber material, has the latitudinal disposition of homogeneity. It can be said that the art of spatial textile in kinds of formative art, as itself having been largely diffused in modern industrial civilization, has stimulated the concept of three-dimensional textile in various areas.
