예술고등학교 음악과 교육과정 비교연구

Abstract

본 연구는 교육부에서 제시한 제 7차 예술고등학교의 교육과정을 중심으로 예술고등학교에 개설된 국악전공의 전문교과과정의 운영 실태를 비교ㆍ분석하고자 한다. 또한 연구 자료 분석을 바탕으로 전문국악교육의 문제점을 파악하고, 향후 전문국악교육이 나아가야 할 방향을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 국악교육의 역사와 제 7차 예술고등학교의 음악과 교육과정에 대해 개관하였으며, 교육과정의 편제와 단위배당에 대한 문헌연구를 실시하였다. 또한 전국에 설립된 예술고등학교의 현황을 파악하기 위해 한국교육명부를 참고하였으며, 전국의 예술고등학교에 문의하여 각 학교의 설립주체, 설립연도, 개설학과, 음악과의 전공분야 등을 파악하였다. 전국에는 25개교의 예술고등학교가 설립되어 있으며, 이 중 19개교에서 국악전공을 선발하여 전문적인 예술교육을 실시하고 있다. 이 논문은 국악전공을 선발하는 19개교 중 7개교의 예술고등학교를 대상으로, 제 7차 음악과 교육과정을 기준하여 국악 전공 학생의 전문교과 운영 실태와 전공 실기 능력 향상을 위한 학교활동 및 시설현황에 대해 비교ㆍ분석하였다. 뿐만 아니라 각 예술고등학교의 신입생 선발 전형을 비교ㆍ분석함으로써 예술고등학교에서 이루어지는 국악교육의 실제를 파악하였다. 연구 결과 각 예술고등학교는 교육부에서 제시한 교육과정 기준단위를 적합하게 이수하고 있으며, 음악과에 편성된 전문교과의 경우 제 7차 음악과 교육과정의 범위 안에서 학교 재량에 의해 탄력적으로 운영되고 있었다. 하지만 일부 예술고등학교의 경우 음악과 교과과정에 편성된 전문교과명과 실제 수업하는 교과가 일치하지 않음을 확인하였다. 국악전문고등학교와 일반예술고등학교의 전문교과과정을 비교ㆍ분석하면, 국악전문고등학교의 경우 국악에 관련된 전문교과를 다양하게 편성하고, 국악 전공 학생들에게 풍부한 음악적 경험과 활동을 제공함으로써 예술적 소양을 갖출 수 있는 계기를 마련하고 있었다. 반면 일반예술고등학교의 경우 서양음악 중심의 교과과정과 학교활동 등으로 인해 국악 전공 학생에게 제공되는 국악에 대한 심도 있는 음악적 경험과 활동이 국악전문고등학교에 비해 현저히 적음을 확인할 수 있었다. 각 예술고등학교의 전공 실기 능력 향상을 위한 학교활동과 시설현황에 관련하여 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 국악전문고등학교의 경우 학생들에게 다양한 무대 경험과 심도 있는 전공 연주 기회를 많이 제공함으로, 전문예술인으로써 갖추어야 할 무대 태도와 연주 조절 능력 등을 함양할 수 있는 계기를 마련하였다. 또한 연습실과 전공실 등의 다양한 시설을 마련하여 수업의 질을 향상시켰다. 반면 일반 예술고등학교의 경우 국악 전공 학생들에게 다양한 연주 경험과 풍부한 음악적 활동, 시설 등을 제공함으로 학생들의 전공 실기 능력을 향상시키려 노력하고 있으나, 서양음악전공에 비해 국악 전공 학생의 수효가 현저히 적어 국악 관련 전문교과의 편성과 운영, 그리고 연주회 개최 등의 학교활동에 있어 많은 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 예술고등학교는 음악적 잠재력을 가진 학생들에게 다양한 음악적 경험을 제공함으로써 훌륭한 예술인으로 성장할 수 있는 계기를 마련하기 위한 목적에 의해 설립되었다. 따라서 각 예술고등학교에서는 국악 전공 학생을 위한 다양한 전문교과를 개설해야 하며, 풍부한 음악적 활동과 시설을 마련하여 전문예술인으로써 성장할 수 있는 계기를 마련해야 할 것이다. 또한 교육부에서는 예술고등학교의 특성에 맞게 교과과정을 자율적으로 운영할 수 있도록 재량권을 많이 부여해야 하며, 음악과 교육과정의 전문교과 편성 시 국악에 관련된 다양한 전문교과를 편성해야 할 것이다. 이 연구의 결과는 차기 음악과 교육과정 수립과 예술고등학교의 국악 전공 학생들의 교과운영에 필요한 자료를 마련하는데 도움이 되었으면 한다.;This study presents the comparison and analyzation between administration of the curriculums of art high schools, according to the seventh curriculum presented by Ministry of Education. Additionally, based on the analyzing the research data, it is meant to find out the problems of special education of Korean Music and to present some guidelines for the Korean music curriculum to follow. For this, a general survey on the 7th curriculum of musical subjects in the art high schools was made, and so was the survey on the formation of the curriculums and the allotment of credits. And Directory of Korean Education was referred to, in order to realize the situation of art high schools all around the country. Furthermore, through inquiring of the art high schools, considerable information about each school was collected, such as establishing subject, establishment year, subject being taught recently, and special course of music. There are 25 art high schools throughout the country, and 19 of them recruit and educate the students who want to major in Korean music. This thesis is based on data from 7 schools from the 19 above, and comparing and analyzing data includes this : the actual condition of running special class for Korean music-majoring students, school activities for improving students’ practical techniques on their majoring subjects, and facilities for education. In addition, through comparison and analysis on freshman selection programme of each school, it was easy to find out the reality of the education of Korean music. The research shows that each art high school meets the standards of credits directed by the authorities, and that special subjects in musical course are administered flexibly by discretion of each school within the boundary of the 7th curriculum of subject of music. However, some art high schools was found out not to run the identical subjects listed in the music curriculum. In comparison between general art high schools and the ones specialized in Korean Music, the specialized ones have diverse and more detailed subjects and provide opportunities in which students can cultivate their musical attainments. Meanwhile, general art high schools has more subjects that are concentrated on Western music, so, consequently and relatively, they offer considerably less subjects in the field of Korean Music than the Korean music-centered ones(e.g. Gukak National High School). The activities and facilities for enhancing students’ musical abilities in art high schools are like the followings : Korean music-specialized high schools are providing more onstage experiences and more opportunities for playing their instruments in their specialty, so they can upgrade their manners on stage and playing control techniques. Also, these schools have made practicing rooms and labs for their major to improve the quality of classes. General art high schools also try to offer a variety of playing experiences, musical activities and facilities for higher performance of students. However, the number of students majoring in Korean Music is much smaller than that of students of Western Music. Therefore the schools have difficulty in organizing and administering the curriculum of Korean music, as well as preparing activities like concerts. Art high schools is aiming to help the students of musical potentialities to have various experiences and to become great artists. Consequently, every art high school should install diverse special curriculums for students of Korean music, and also should let them have the opportunities to grow to be professional artists. In addition, Ministry of Education allow the schools to have as much discretion as possible, for them to manage the curriculum freely in accordance with special qualities of art high schools. Finally, the schools need to have special curriculums for the students of Korean music when setting and organizing ones. In the end, I hope this research will help the establishment of the next curriculums of musical subjects and the preparation of the data required for the administration of curriculum for Korean music-majoring students in art high schools.
