청소년의 자기애와 영적 안녕감의 관계

Abstract

본 연구에서는 Kohut의 자기심리학에 근거하여 청소년의 자기애(건강한 과대자기, 건강한 이상화, 방어적 과대자기, 방어적 이상화)와 영적 안녕감(종교적 안녕감, 실존적 안녕감)이 어떤 관계를 형성하는지 알아보고자 한다. 성별과 종교유무가 이 관계연구에서 유의미하게 영향을 미치는 변인이라는 선행연구의 결과를 토대로 성별과 종교유무를 통제변인으로 설정하였다. 연구 대상은 서울과 경기도에 위치한 중, 고둥학교의 학생 437명을 대상으로 2009년 3월 초부터 4월 중순에 걸쳐 설문조사를 실시하였고 자기애를 측정하기 위해 한국판 자기애 측정도구(Korean Inventory of Self Psychology: KISP)를 사용하였고, 영적 안녕감을 측정하고자 영적 안녕감 척도(Spiritual Well-Being Scale: SWBS)를 사용하였다. 연구 결과 여학생 집단이 남학생 집단보다 영적 안녕감과 영적 안녕감의 하위요인인 종교적 안녕감이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 종교가 있는 청소년 집단이 종교가 없는 청소년 집단보다 영적 안녕감과 영적 안녕감의 하위요인인 종교적 안녕감이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 자기애와 영적 안녕감과의 관계에서 성별과 종교유무를 통제하였을 때 건강한 과대자기, 건강한 이상화와 방어적 이상화가 영적 안녕감의 유의미한 예측변인이었다. 영적 안녕감의 하위요인별로 구체적으로 살펴보면 자기애와 종교적 안녕감의 관계에서 성별과 종교유무를 통제하였을 때, 건강한 이상화와 방어적 이상화가 종교적 안녕감을 유의미하게 설명하였다. 자기애와 실존적 안녕감의 관계에서는 건강한 과대자기, 방어적 과대자기와 이상화가 실존적 안녕감을 유의미하게 설명하였다. 이러한 결과는 건강하고 안정적인 자기상을 형성하며 자신의 이상을 건강하게 펼칠 수 있고 타인을 공감해주며 타인에게 지나치게 의존하지 않고 성숙한 대인관계를 형성하는 청소년이 영적 안녕감이 높다는 것을 의미한다. 그리고 자기가 특별하다고 인식하는 자기애의 과대자기 영역이 실존적인 삶의 의미를 인식함으로 행복감을 누리는 실존적 안녕감과 주된 연관이 있고 이상적 대상을 추구하고 융합하고자하는 자기애의 이상화 영역이 신과의 관계를 통해 평안과 행복감을 누리는 종교적 안녕감과 연관이 있다는 점을 의미한다.;The aim of this study was to examine what kind of relationship narcissism(the healthy grandiose self, healthy idealization, the defensive grandiose self, and defensive idealization) has with a teenager’s spiritual well-being(religious and existential spiritual well-being). Gender and religiosity were established as control factors. For the research methodology that was employed, a questionnaire was distributed to 437 junior and high school students living in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do from the beginning of March to the middle of April 2009. The Korean Inventory of Self-Psychology (KISP) and the Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWBS) were used to determine the levels of the teenage subjects’ narcissism and spiritual well-being. The results of the survey revealed that the level of spiritual well-being, particularly religious spiritual well-being (one of the subfactors of spiritual well-being), was higher for the girls than for the boys, and that the level of spiritual well-being, particularly religious spiritual well-being, was higher for the group with a religion than for the group without a religion. As a result, it was found that among the subfactors of narcissism, the healthy grandiose self, healthy idealization, and the defensive grandiose self have a significant influence over the spiritual well-being of teenagers. Healthy and defensive idealization appeared to have an influence particularly over the religious spiritual well-being of teenagers, and the healthy grandiose self, the defensive grandiose self, and defensive idealization appeared to have an influence over the existential spiritual well-being of the teenagers in particular. The results of the study suggest that the higher the healthy narcissism scores and the lower the defensive idealization scores were, the higher the spiritual well-being of the teenage study subjects appeared to be. The results also suggest that there is a significant relation between the grandiose self domain and the existential spiritual well-being in particular, and between the idealization domain and the religious spiritual well-being.
