음악대학 피아노 전공의 현행 입시지정곡에 대한 연구

Abstract

The entrance examination system of the Korean music colleges is to be structured to assess the students' musical talents and their potentials for the professional musicians. However, there have been many problems about the current college entrance assessment system for piano-major-in students and it is not properly done to evaluate them. More seriously, it has a big influence on the whole Korean piano education. In this respect, my study aims for the ways to improve the music college entrance examination mainly by examining and analyzing the audition pieces that have been chosen from 1997 to 2008. First, I overlooked the general purpose of piano education for the theoretical base of this study, and researched the entrance examinations of six universities in U.S.A. and Europe as a role model. In order to scrutinize the Korean Music College Entrance Examination, I studied the audition pieces that have been selected from the six universities in Seoul. Then, I compared the examination system of the six Korean universities with those of the six model foreign universities in an analytical point of view. I did a questionnaire for 271 students majoring in piano from the seven music colleges in Seoul in order to analyze the problems of the current piano education and its examination. The questions are selected and arranged to find out their opinions about the current entrance examination and also to find out how the audition pieces affected their previous piano learning while preparing the entrance test. The survey results indicates that the majority of students received a test-based piano education, which focused on technical skills of piano performance and teacher-centered lectures only for the test success, not for their aptitude development. The college entrance examination for the piano majors in Korea has greatly changed so far, but there are still many aspects to be improved in terms of a short assessment time, an inadequate method of testing musical talents, a limited range of audition pieces selection, and the lack of diversity in repertory. Here are several solutions I suggest for the music college (piano majors) entrance examination. First, the duration of an entrance audition should be extended enough to evaluate each tester in all its aspects. Second, students should have a chance to learn piano songs of the different age by suggesting a variety of audition pieces for each musical period. Third, a test should be integrated to evaluate a full range of students' musical potential talents. Fourth, examiners should be carefully selected and choose the right students according to the particular preferences of each university. The study is a general inquiry into the Korean music college entrance examination, its problems and the possible solutions. I hope that this study can help to make theoretical and practical grounds for a new practical test system well-suited to the fundamental purposes of piano education and for a music college to select the students who has a great musical potentials and talents.;음대 입시는 학생들의 음악적 잠재력과 음악전문인으로서의 미래적 가능성을 평가할 수 있어야 한다. 그러나 피아노 전공 입시제도의 많은 문제점으로 인하여 학생들에 대한 평가가 제대로 이루어지지 못하고 있으며, 이것은 입시 전 피아노 교육에도 많은 영향을 끼치고 있다. 따라서 1997-2008년 입시지정곡 연구를 중심으로 음대입시제도가 개선해야 할 방향에 대해 모색하는 것에 본 연구의 목적을 두었다. 실제적 분석에 앞서 이론적 배경에서는 피아노 교육의 목적에 대해 살펴보았고, 음대 입시제도의 모범적 형태가 될 만한 미국과 유럽 6개 대학의 입시제도와 입시곡에 대해 알아보았다. 우리나라의 입시제도의 고찰을 위해 서울 소재 6개 대학의 입시곡을 연도별, 대학별로 분석하여 한국 입시곡의 경향 및 특징을 살펴보았다. 또한 입시제도의 전범으로서 선정한 6개의 외국대학의 입시제도와 비교 분석하였다. 현 피아노 입시제도와 입시교육의 문제점을 분석하기 위하여 서울에 소재한 7개 음악대학의 피아노 전공 재학생 271명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문지의 문항은 입시제도에 대한 음대생들의 견해와 입시곡이 과거 그들의 피아노 교육에 미친 영향을 알아보기 위한 질문으로 구성하였다. 조사 결과 많은 학생들이 입시 위주의 피아노 교육을 받고 있으며, 그 내용도 음악성 개발을 위한 교육보다는 입시를 위한 기교의 향상과 획일적인 주입식 교육이 많다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 과거부터 현재까지 우리나라의 피아노 전공 입시제도는 많은 변화를 거듭해 왔으나 짧은 실기평가 시간과 음악의 제반능력에 대한 평가가 미비한 점, 한정된 입시곡의 범위와 다양하지 못한 레퍼토리 등 아직까지 개선해야 할 부분이 많다. 따라서 음대 피아노 전공 입시제도의 개선점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 오디션의 기간을 늘려서 학생 각 개인의 평가시간을 좀더 확보해야 한다. 둘째, 각 시대의 곡을 포함한 입시곡을 제시하여서 학생들이 입시 전 다양한 시대의 곡을 접할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 셋째, 음악의 제반능력에 대한 평가가 종합적으로 이루어져야 한다. 넷째, 각 학교 특성에 맞는 학생을 선발할 수 있도록 심사위원을 구성해야 한다. 본 연구는 우리나라 음악대학 피아노 전공의 입시제도 전반에 대해 살펴봄으로써 입시제도의 개선방안에 대해 고찰해 보았다. 이로써 음악대학이 음악적 잠재력과 가능성이 있는 학생을 선발하여 피아노 교육의 본질적 목적에 맞는 입시실기교육이 이루어지는 발판이 되기를 바란다.
