빛의 공간 연출을 중심으로 한 환경디자인 연구

Abstract

It is important that light plays a role as an intermediary of cognition which enables the formation of space and figure through man's vision in the process of design. Light enables the recognition of space by making the space visible. Man perceive space in three-dimension and identify every basic form by the contrast of light and dark. This has an influence on man's aesthetic consciousness. Therefore space and figure are formed not by themselves but by the existence of light. The existence of light is very inclusive concept in the space, so space and form are completed by light. The change of light based on time, pace, and its amount acts as an important element which can change the form of space. In space light doesn't work simply as light itself, but have a very close relation with material, texture, color and other space elements. Space is limited by physical form but man perceive space relatively by many other conditions. So same space can be experienced differently by the characters of light. Light induces human emotions by making the man comprehend the impression of the space and have an influence on his behavior. Light grants impression on the space where man's behaviors are occurred and is very useful as a space creating element. Mostly the existence of a place is developed by light and in the terms of concept of space light limits the space. Thus light with many qualities stimulates the human imagination and induces behavior. Understanding the character of light and the effort to apply the light is indispensable in producing a better place. By introducing light appropriately the space character is bestowed and by applying light matching the function of the each space the efficiency of the space is maximized and the meaning of the space itself can be emphasized. Therefore this study is basically based on the comprehension of the quality of light. And by analysing the effect and the method of application of light on the inner and outer space through theoretical inspection, it can be adapted in the design of multi-cultural space. Hence this study have been preceeded by following procedure. First, understand the relationship and the character of light and space. By analysing the connection between light and the basic form of space formation, the principles of space organization and the space composing elements, the concept to be applied in the process of space formation is brought out. Second, analyze the role of light in the space and define its meaning. Light makes it possible to recognize the space. Especially the contrast of light and shadow makes space more distinct. Not only light act as a mediator of visual perception, but it also act as a conductor of cognition which induce human behavior to other direction. Thus light can afford the human behavior which is demanded in terms of the space intension and in doing so light can offer order in the space and reinforce the function of the space. Third, analyse the transformation of space in terms of various light concept. By defining the character according to the object of the space, and analysing the conditions and properties of light, find the application method as a element of space design. Light can offer impressions in the space where human behaviors make place, so it is very useful as a element of space composition. Forth, through model case study appraise the invested details objectively and prove the validity. Apply the matching light concept in each design steep and deploy the space formation procedure reasonably. Also, use light as space composing element by developing the light required in each space as design principles. The focus of this study lies on the attempt to use light as a design element by understanding the character of light and seeking the method to induce light in space, to create a better place. Through this study, by understanding the meaning of light and its relation with the space, and by analysing light as a design element, new method of environmental design that can reinforce the quality and define the character of space by light was proposed. It is a ecological and sustainable method of design which can support the realization of a better future environment. ;기본적으로 빛이 인간의 시각을 통해 공간과 형태의 형성을 가능케 하는 인식의 매개로서의 역할을 한다는 것은 디자인 과정에 있어서 중요하다. 빛은 공간을 가시적인 것으로 만들어 공간을 인식할 수 있게 한다. 인간은 빛에 의한 명암의 대비에 의해 공간을 입체적으로 지각하고 모든 기본 형태를 구분한다. 이러한 것은 인간의 미의식에 영향을 미친다. 이와 같이 공간과 형태는 그 자체로서가 아니라 빛의 존재로서 이루어지게 된다. 공간에 있어서 빛의 존재는 매우 포괄적인 개념으로, 공간과 형태는 빛에 의해 완성된다. 빛의 시간, 위치, 양에 따른 변화는 공간 내부와 외부의 형태를 변하게 할 수 있는 중요한 요소로 작용한다. 공간 속에서의 빛은 빛 자체만의 단순한 개념이 아니라 재료, 질감, 색 및 공간구성요소들과도 매우 밀접한 관계가 있다. 공간은 물리적인 형태에 의해 한정되지만, 인간은 공간을 여러 가지 조건에 의해 상대적으로 지각하게 되며, 같은 공간이라도 빛의 특성에 따라서 경험하게 되는 공간은 다르다. 빛은 인간에게 공간의 인상을 느끼게 하여 인간의 감정을 유발시키며 행동에도 영향을 미치게 할 수 있다. 빛은 사람들의 행동이 일어나는 공간에 인상을 부여함으로써 공간의 연출 요소로 유용하다. 대다수의 경우 장소성의 존재는 빛이 만들며, 공간 개념에서는 빛이 공간을 한정시킨다. 따라서 여러 가지 성격의 빛은 인간의 상상력을 자극시키고, 행위를 유발함으로써 생명력을 강화한다. 빛의 특성을 이해하고, 빛을 적용하고자 하는 노력은 보다 나은 공간의 창출을 위해 필수적이라 할 수 있다. 빛을 적절히 도입함으로써 공간적 특성을 부여하고, 각 공간 기능에 부합하는 빛의 적용으로 공간의 효율을 극대화함은 물론 공간 자체의 의미를 부각시킬 수 있다. 따라서 본연구는 기본적으로 빛의 특성에 관한 이해를 바탕으로 빛이 공간 내 · 외부에 미치는 영향과 적용방법을 타당한 이론적 검증을 통해 분석하고, 이를 복합문화공간 디자인에 적용하는 것이므로 다음과 같은 방법을 통해 연구를 진행하고자 한다. 첫째, 빛과 공간과의 관계와 그 특성을 파악한다. 빛과 공간 구성의 기본적인 형태, 공간 조직 원리, 공간 구성 요소의 관계를 분석하여 공간의 형태 도출 단계에서 적용시킬 수 있는 개념을 이끌어 내었다. 둘째, 공간 속에서 빛의 역할을 분석하여 그 의미를 규명한다. 빛은 공간의 인식을 가능하게 하는데, 특히 빛과 그림자, 즉 명암의 대비는 공간을 더욱 명확하게 한다. 빛은 시지각의 전달 매체로서의 역할뿐만 아니라, 인간 행위를 다른 방향으로 유도하는 인식 유도 매개의 역할을 한다. 따라서 공간의 목적에 따라 요구되는 인간 행태를 지원하여 공간 질서를 부여하고 공간의 기능을 강화할 수 있다. 셋째, 여러 가지 빛 개념에 따르는 공간의 변화를 분석한다. 공간의 목적에 따라 성격을 규정하고 이에 맞는 빛의 조건과 특성을 분석함으로써 공간 디자인 요소로서의 활용방안을 모색한다. 빛은 사람들의 행동이 일어나는 공간에 인상을 부여함으로써 공간의 연출 요소로 유용하다. 넷째, 모형 사례를 통해 연구된 내용의 객관적 평가 및 타당성을 입증한다. 각 디자인 단계에 맞는 빛 개념을 적용시켜 공간 도출 과정을 합리적으로 전개한다. 또한 각 공간 특성에 따라 요구되는 빛을 디자인 원리로 발전시켜 빛을 공간 연출 요소로서 활용한다. 본 연구는 보다 나은 공간의 창출을 위해 빛의 특성을 이해하고 빛을 공간에 도입시키는 방법을 모색하여 디자인 요소로서의 활용을 시도하였다는 사실에 의미가 있다. 즉 본 연구를 통해 빛의 의미와 공간과의 관계성에 대한 이해를 바탕으로, 디자인 요소로서의 빛을 분석하여, 빛을 통해 공간의 특성을 강화하고 성격을 결정할 수 있는 새로운 환경디자인 방법론을 제시하였다. 이것은 보다 바람직한 미래사회의 구현을 뒷받침할 수 있는 친환경적이고 지속가능한 디자인 방법이라 할 수 있다.
