아프리카 마사이족 장신구의 조형미를 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션 연구

Abstract

과학기술의 발달은 인류에게 풍요로움과 편리함을 주었지만, 인간은 자신의 욕구를 충족시키기 위하여 자원의 형태를 변화시키는 등 관념의 틀을 바꾸기 시작하였다. 이러한 기계문명의 폐해로 인간은 자연으로부터 소외되었고, 이것은 결국 인간성의 상실과 감정의 황폐화로 이어졌다. 이로써 우리 현대인들은 인간성의 회복과 정신적인 만족을 얻기 위하여 자연으로의 회귀를 원했고, 이러한 자연 회귀 현상은 조형예술분야와 패션계를 비롯한 패션 일러스트레이션 분야에도 프리미티브와 에스닉 등 다양한 형태로 반영 되었다. 따라서 패션일러스트레이션 작품 역시 고도화된 감성을 바탕으로 한 창의적이고 차별화된 표현기법이 요구된다. 이에 본 연구는 마사이족 장신구의 조형미를 모티브로 하여 니들 펀칭 펠팅 기법을 패션일러스트레이션의 표현 기법으로 활용함으로써 패션 일러스트레이션의 표현영역을 확대하고자 하였다. 이러한 가치의식은 본 연구에 있어 동부 아프리카 마사이족 장신구의 조형미를 패션일러스트레이션에 도입시키는 계기가 되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 양모 소재를 활용한 핸드 니들 펀칭 기법의 다양한 부조적인 표현을 새롭게 개발함으로써, 패션 일러스트레이션과 니들 펠트 분야의 예술적 가치를 높이고, 다각화를 이루는데 있다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법은 먼저 문헌조사를 통한 이론적 고찰로, 논문, 출판물, 기타 잡지 등의 매체와 기타 국외 문헌, 인터넷 검색 자료 등을 이용하여 연구하였다. 우선 패션 일러스트레이션의 이론적 고찰에서는 개념과 역사 및 기능과 활용, 그리고 패션일러스트레이션의 다양한 표현기법에 대해 조사하였고, 다음으로 니들 펀칭 펠팅 기법에 관한 고찰에서는 니들 펀칭 펠팅 기법의 개념과 표현기법, 그리고 이를 응용한 작품 사례를 조사하였다. 또한 아프리카 마사이족의 장신구에 관한 고찰로 그들의 역사와 문화 및 장신구의 특징과 조형적 특성 그리고 아프리카 원주민 장신구의 조형미를 응용한 현대 패션 디자인을 살펴보았다. 이를 토대로 작품 10점을 제작하였다. 작품 제작은 아프리카 마사이족의 조형적 특성을 최대한 발현시키고, 핸드 니들 펀칭 기법의 다양한 응용을 통해 패션 일러스트레이션의 독창성과 패션성을 고도화된 감성으로 그려내는데 중점을 두었다. 작품 제작에 있어 주된 재료로는 양모펠트와 폴리망사, 나무비즈가 사용되었고, 기법으로는 핸드 니들 펀칭 기법과 비딩 기법을 사용한 부조적인 텍스쳐 개발을 시도하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 작품의 모티브로 활용한 마사이족의 장신구는 화려한 색채대비와 단순한 형태미의 조화로 이루어진 독특한 시각적 이미지를 가지고 있으며, 또한 장식성을 지니고 있어 패션 일러스트레이션 분야에 무한한 영감과 가능성을 열어 주는 주제로 적합하였다. 둘째, 마사이족 비즈 장신구의 색상은 채도가 높은 비비드 톤(Vivid Tone)을 사용하여 선명하고 화려하다. 이러한 강렬한 색채를 일러스트레이션에 도입한 결과, 다이나믹(Dynamic)한 이미지를 끌어낼 수 있었고, 색상대비와 보색대비를 통한 이러한 색채의 사용은 독특하고 과감한 그들의 장신구 디자인과 어울려 장식적인 효과를 극대화시키는 역할을 했다. 셋째, 양모섬유를 사용하여 제작한 패션 일러스트레이션은, 실재 의상의 소재와 회화적 이미지가 자연스럽게 조화됨으로써 복합적인 패션이미지를 보다 효율적으로 전달 할 수 있었다. 또한 시각적, 촉각적 질감을 형성하여 보다 높은 예술성을 표현할 수 있었을 뿐 아니라, 투명한 망사원단과의 대비를 통해 양감과 공간감의 표현에 용이함을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 핸드니들펀칭 기법을 사용함에 있어 다양한 형태를 지니고 있는 표면 질감을 연구·개발하고, 이를 패션 일러스트레이션 분야에 새롭게 도입해 보았다. 패션 일러스트레이션에 표현된 이러한 질감의 효과는 평면적이었던 작품에 양감과 공간감을 부여해주었고, 또한 작품에 강조점을 주어 나타내고자 하는 이미지의 시각적 효과를 높일 뿐만 아니라, 풍부한 재질감을 형성하며 장식성과 다양성 및 예술성 역시 함께 높이는 효과를 나타낼 수 있었다. 다섯째, 아프리카 마사이족 장신구의 조형미를 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션이 양모의 핸드니들펀칭기법을 활용하여 제작된 것은 시각적 부분에서의 새로운 시도였다. 이는 시대적인 특징인 현대인의 문명 회귀적 성향과도 잘 어우러졌을 뿐 아니라, 전통적인 개념에 머무르지 않고 전통 장신구의 조형미를 현대 패션 디자인에 응용한 것으로, 다양한 측면으로의 연구 가능성을 보여주었다. 본 연구를 통해 아프리카의 수많은 부족과 부족별 장신구의 조형적 형태 및 색채, 질감 등 무한한 디자인 요소는 앞으로도 많은 예술 분야에 있어 다각적인 측면으로 적용이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 핸드니들펀칭 기법의 부조적 표현을 새롭게 연구한 본 연구를 바탕으로 더욱 다양한 종류의 펠팅 기법과 그를 적용시킨 다양한 장르의 예술분야가 탄생하길 기대해본다.;Human have changed the concept of the nature for their desire like changing characteristic of nature resources, although the advancement of science and technology has given convenience and life in plenty for them. Human by the evil influences of material civilization has been fallen away from the nature and finally this situation lead human to a heart of stone and the loss of human being. But nowadays human wants to get the nature back for recovery of human being and a feeling of satisfaction for spirit, and the nature primal phenomenon has been shown to a field of formative arts, fashion and also fashion illustration. So a work of fashion illustration requires ingeniousness and dissimilar to another illustration with a high level of sensibility. This research serves as a momentum to put a shape of accessories by Masai in Africa to practical use of a fashion illustration. The aim of this study is for variety and level up the value of the art in the fashion illustration and needle felt by developing voluminous needle felt with considering Masai accessories from creative and different characters. Firstly, I researched a concept, history, function and practical use of the fashion illustration through sundry records on the inside and outside of the country and also about many expressions for the fashion illustration. Secondly, about considering Masai accessories I looked through their cultural characters, the background of accessories and the modern fashion design which use a shape of their accessories. Thirdly, I checked skill of needle punch embroidery technique out about the concept, expressions of its technique and also works of art which applied it. Finally, the work of production with these theories is going to be reached the maximum expression by the shape of Masai accessories. I also focus on creative and refined fashion illustration with high feeling by these all theories. I made the work of production out of felt poly mesh, wood beads , and I tried new development of texture which was used hand needle punch embroidery technique and beads embroidery technique In my conclusion of research basis on theoretical background Firstly, the theme of art which there are formative arts, creative talent, decorative arts in accessories of Masai who is a minority in Africa is going to give unlimited feeling and possibilities in the field of the fashion illustration, and also can be effected another part of arts. Sencondly, inducting hand needle punch embroidery technique in the field of the fashion illustration will not be level up only visual effort, but also decorative arts, beauty of art with feeling of high quality including voluminus Thirdly, the fashion illustration using woollen fabric which can produce a cloth express more effectively than composite and complicate the sight of fashion, because wool harmonize the material and pictorial effect with nature and it also is shown higher art by visual effort, the sense of touch and natural feeling. This research was a new departure usinghand needle punch embroidery technique of woollen in the fashion illustration by idea in the shape of Masai accessories. Many minorities which have unique designs in Africa will be able to apply to many parts of art in the future. I expect new arts, which apply many kind of felt embroidery techniqueand voluminous hand needle punch embroidery technique , is made by this research.
