환경공간과 조각의 조형적 고찰

Abstract

20세기에 들어와서 조각은 기법, 재료, 형식 등의 다양화와 미의식의 변모로 조각이 어디에 놓여지는가 하는 전시공간이 중요시 되었다. 여기서 조각이 놓여지는 작품주변의 환경공간이 조각의 조형적 효과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가? 그 의미와 중요성을 규명하는 것은 중요한 과제이다. 본 연구의 목적은 조각이 환경공간에 의해 어떠한 영향을 받고 또, 그에따라 조형적 효과가 어떻게 나타나며, 조각에 있어서 작품이 위치하는 환경공간과 조각의 조형적 효과에 대하여 고찰하는 것에 있다. 본 연구의 내용은 조각의 환경공간에 따른 조형적 효과를 고찰하기 위하여 조각의 본질, 환경공간과 조각을 이론적 배경으로 다루었고, 야외공간과 조각, 건축과 조각 등 환경공간과의 관계를 Henry Moore를 비롯한 야외에 놓여진 작품으로 조각의 외부환경공간에서의 조형적 효과를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 방법은 선행연구, 이론적 문헌의 분석과 종합을 통하여 이론적 배경형성을 하고 조각가의 작품 중 여러 조건의 외부환경공간에 전시된 작품 58점을 유의표집하여 각 작품이 환경공간에서 나타나는 조형적 효과와, 같은 작품이지만 다른 환경공간에서의 조형적 효과를 비교분석하였다. 분석 결과 조각은 환경공간 속에서 강조, 대비, 조화, 균형, 변화 등의 특성에 따라 각각 다른 조형적 효과를 가지며, 같은 작품이라도 그 놓여지는 위치에 따라 그 시각적인 효과는 환경공간을 구성하는 요인의 특성에 의해 각각 다르게 형성된다. 조각의 환경공간에서의 조형적 효과분석을 통하여 조각은 환경공간과의 불가분의 연관관계를 갖고 있으며 환경공간의 조형요인에 의한 특성에 의하여 각각 다르게 형성되므로 종합공간형태로서의 조형적 효과는 다르게 표현된다.;In 20th century, the diversity of techniques and materials together with the change of aesthetic consciousness has brought a remarkable change in the field of sculpture is placed has been emphasized. How does the environmental space in which a sculpture is placed affect the formative effect of the work? It is an important job to find out the meaning and the significance of this question. The aims of this study are as following: First, How is a work of sculpture influenced by the environmental space it is placed in? Second, How does the formative effect appear according to the different environments? Third, to study the relationship between the environmental space and the formative effect of the works. To examine various formative effects of sculpture according to the different environmental spaces the contents of this study include the theories of the substance of sculpture art, the environmental space and sculpture. Also it deals with the relationship between outdoor space and sculpture, architecture and sculpture, etc., and it analyzes the formative effect of sculpture through the works placed outdoors such as Henry Moore's for example. This paper has been made by studing the previous works and getting theoritical bases though the analysis and synthesis of various books. In laterpart, I made a sampling of 58 works of sculpture which have been exhibited in outside environmental space and compared the different formative effects of the same work when it is placed in another environmental space. The result of the analysis shows that sculptural works have different formative effect according to the characteristics such as stress, contrast, harmony, balance as a synthetic space form and variety. And the different visual effect of the same work has been achieved by the characteristics of the elements which form the environmental space. The analysis also shows that sculpture has indispensable relationship with environmental space and that different formative effects are produced as a total space form by the above mentioned various elements.
