대중가요를 활용한 음악감상지도안 연구

Abstract

음악은 음을 바탕으로 인간의 느낌과 감정을 표현하는 예술이다. 그리고 다양한 음악적 경험은 학생들의 풍요로운 삶의 원천이 된다. 따라서 음악교육은 음악의 여러 가지 요소를 통해 교육적으로 음악의 아름다움을 느끼고 그 아름다움을 표현할 수 있는 능력을 길러줄 수 있어야 한다. 그리고 다양한 음악을 체계적으로 접할 수 있도록 도와주어야 한다. 그러나 입시위주의 교육정책은 학생들로 하여금 음악교과를 외면하게 만들어 음악적 경험을 축소시키고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 사회에서의 음악적 환경은 보수적이고 고루한 내용과 방법으로 학생들을 수용하려고 하는 학교 음악교육으로부터 학생들을 더욱 멀어지게 하고 있다. 이러한 현실에서 학교음악교육은 새로운 음악내용과 교수 방법이 요구되고 있다. 그래서 최근엔 침체된 음악교육의 활성화를 위한 방법으로 학생들이 선호하는 대중음악을 도입하려는 의견들이 제기되고 있고 다양한 연구들이 나오고 있다. 그러나 대부분의 연구들이 감상수업에 대중음악을 활용할 때 단순히 들려주는 데 그치고 있어 그것을 활용하는 구체적인 방법이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구는 대중음악이 가진 음악적 요소와 특징을 알고 그것을 고전음악과 함께 이해할 수 있는 감상학습 지도안을 개발하였다. 먼저 대중가요를 수업에 활용가능한지를 알아보기 위해 이론적 배경으로 미국과 우리나라에서의 문헌들과 연구물들을 찾아보고 충분한 타당성을 밝혔다. 다음은 클래식 음악을 인용한 대중가요를 수집하고 선행연구에서 제시된 대중음악의 선정기준을 중심으로 대중가요를 선별하여 학습내용을 추출하였다. 이 연구는 양종모 외(1999)의 “중학교 음악과 수행평가 시행방안 및 자료개발 연구”와 미국의 음악교육자협의회(The National Association for Music Education (MENC))에서 2002년에 발간한 “대중음악을 이용한 학습지도 방안(The Guide to Teaching with Popular Music)”을 기초로 하였다. 본 연구는 “중학교 음악과 수행평가 시행 방안 및 자료개발 연구”의 평가 도구의 내용 중 감상영역의 ‘음악 내용 장르 이해’에 제시된 클래식의 원곡과 인용한 곡의 내용, 곡의 종류, 연주자, 연주형태와 분위기 및 특징을 본 연구에 계획하였다. “대중음악을 이용한 학습지도 방안”은 팝음악을 이용한 음악교육에 대한 가이드이며, 이것의 내용은 ‘멜로디’, ‘화성’, ‘편곡과 즉흥연주’, ‘리듬’, ‘학제간의 연구’, ‘음악의 뿌리’로 되어 있다. 본 연구는 이 중 ‘학제간 연구(interdisciplinary connections)’와 ‘음악의 뿌리(음악과 사회에 관한 이해)’에 대한 지도를 참고로 하여 감상지도안에 연계하였다. 마지막으로 개발한 감상수업 지도안으로 학생들을 직접 가르치고, 설문조사를 하여 수업의 효과를 알아보았다. 설문결과 학생들은 대중가요를 수업에 도입하는 것에 대해 많은 관심과 흥미를 보였다. 또한 설문조사를 통해 학생들에게 클래식을 인용한 대중가요를 활용한 것이 학생들이 어렵게 느끼는 클래식음악을 이해하는데 도움이 된다는 것을 확인하였다. 하루가 다르게 변화하는 사회에서 교육도 함께 변화해야 한다. 그래서 학생들의 음악적 욕구를 수용함과 동시에 고전음악을 이해할 수 있는 다양한 교수내용과 방법을 연구하는 것이 필요하겠다. 이 논문이 교육학적 연구 및 활용방안에 도움이 되기를 기대하며, 이 논문을 통하여 교사와 학생들이 서로 공감대를 형성한 즐거운 분위기 속에서 학생들의 욕구를 충족시키면서 교사가 기대하는 수준의 교육 효과를 이루어내길 바란다.;Music is an art that express the human feelings and emotions using sound. A variety of musical experiences become the foundation of the students' bountiful lives. Therefore music education should foster the ability to feel and express the beauty in music via the various elements in music. We should also find ways of helping students to come into contact with a variety of music in a more systematic way. But the educational policy that centers around the college entrance examination is creating a situation where students are ignoring the music classes and therefore decreasing the opportunity to enjoy musical experience. Further on, the conservative musical environment of the society is making the students become more distant from the narrow-minded content and methods of the academical music education. Given this reality, the Korean music education is in need of new music materials and teaching methods. And so recently there have been several researches that suggest the implementation of popular music into the depressed music education as a means of revitalizing the material. But as most researches limit suggestions to simply playing popular music during music appreciation classes, there should be more detailed and sophisticated schemes. Therefore the following research has developed an impressions studies teaching plan that understands the musical elements of popular music while enhancing the understanding of classical music. First, several American and Korean documents and researches have been studied to create an objective background in order to justify the use of popular music in classes. Next, an music appreciation teaching plan has been developed by extracting a learning material that has been selected based on a popular music selection criteria as indicated from a preceding study which focuses on collecting popular music that base on classic music. The music appreciation teaching plan and this research bases on the "A research of Middle school music material development and enforcement scheme. (1991)" by Jong-mo Yang and others, as well as "The Guide to Teaching with Popular Music" published in 2002 in The National Association for Music Education(MENC). The following research has arranged the original classic piece, content of the referred song, song type, performer, performance type, mood and characteristics that has been mentioned in 'an understanding of the musical content genre' within the music appreciation field of "A research of Middle school music material development and enforcement scheme." The Guide to Teaching with Popular Music is a guide for the music education using popular music and its content consists of 'melody,' 'harmony,' 'arrangement and improvised performance,' 'rhythm,' 'interdisciplinary connections,' 'musical roots.' The music appreciation teaching plan in this research is connected to the guiding reference of the 'interdisciplinary connections' and 'musical roots (an understanding of music and society).' Finally I have researched the effect of the music appreciation classes teaching plan through surveys and actual implementation of the plan. The survey results show that the students were interested and excited about applying popular songs into the classes. I also learned from the surveys that students felt it is effective to utilize popular songs that base on classics in effectively understanding the classics genre. Education must be changed in a society that changes by the day. It is necessary that we study a number of teaching materials and methods that can embrace students' musical desires and allow them to understand classical music at the same time. I hope that this study will be helpful as an educational research and practical plan. Ultimately it is desired that this study provides the effect of creating a chemistry between the music teachers and the students and therefore maximizing the educational effect and fulfilling the musical desire of the students in an amicable environment.
