투과·반투과 효과의 문자를 활용한 패브릭 디자인

Abstract

오늘날 현대사회는 정보통신 기술 및 뉴미디어의 개발로 인하여 급속도의 세계화, 정보화가 계속되고 있다. 고도의 정보화 사회에서 우리는 국제화, 개방화의 추세에 따라 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화 등 거의 모든 영역에서 교류가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 사회의 이러한 변화는 ‘컴퓨터, 통신, 인간’의 결합에 의한 정보기술을 기반으로 ‘사회의 정보화’가 그 근저를 이룬다. 정보통신의 발전에 의해 물적 재화가 대체되고, 시간과 거리의 제한을 극복하는 것이 가능하게 되었으며 정보의 이용이 보편화되고 다양화됨으로써 새로운 문화로 발전되었다. 이렇듯 다원적, 복합적 문화를 접하며 디자인 역시 다양한 영역과 어우러져 새로운 가치를 창조한다. 디자인은 대중과 함께 하는 것이므로 시대의 흐름과 대중의 심리를 파악하여 정확한 메시지를 전달해야 한다. 문자는 많은 영역에 있어서 메시지를 전달하는 보편적이고 기본적인 도구이다. 문자를 활용한 디자인은 우리 주위에서 쉽게 접할 수 있다. 브랜드의 로고를 비롯해 문자를 이용해 패턴을 디자인하는가하면, 그래피티의 영향을 받은 패션과 인테리어 디자인도 찾아볼 수 있다. 이는 더 나아가 문학과 접목되어 표현되기도 한다. 오늘날 세계화 시대에 세계시민으로 살아가는 우리는 정체성의 상실이라는 문제점에 직면하고 있다. 자아의 상실과 인간소외로 점철된 혼돈이 시대, 우리는 문학 작품을 통해 정체성을 회복하고 자신의 삶의 의미를 발견하곤 한다. 그리하여 보다 풍요롭게 확장된 자아의 부피를 느낄 수 있다. 문학은 결국 삶의 반영이자, 인간학(人間學)이다. 우리는 독서를 통해 자신의 삶을 돌이켜 본다. 본 연구자는 프랑스 소설가 ‘프루스트’의 『잃어버린 시간을 찾아서』를 통해 현대인의 정체성 상실을 보았으며 이러한 문학적 감성과 더불어 자신을 되돌아 볼 수 있는 휴식과 명상의 공간을 제공하는 디자인에 대한 영감을 얻었다. 한편, 인터넷의 발전과 함께 시공간의 개념이 허물어지는 사회 변화 속에서, 개인주의를 바탕으로 사적 공간이 확보되면서도 외부와의 원활한 소통을 중시하는 경향을 읽을 수 있다. 섬유의 투과·반투과 성질을 이용하여 이러한 개인 공간을 유지하면서 동시에 세상과 만나는 통로로 역할을 할 수 있는 디자인을 제시하고자 한다. 이에 본 연구의 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 문학을 바탕으로 새로운 창조가 이루어지는 다양한 영역의 사례를 분석하고 둘째, 본 연구자가 『잃어버린 시간을 찾아서』에서 받은 영감의 원천을 분석하였다. 셋째, 문자를 이용한 디자인 사례를 조사·분석하고, 넷째, 섬유 변형 기법 중 레이저 커팅 기법과 번아웃 기법을 분석하고 실제활용 사례를 조사하였다. 이러한 연구 과정을 통하여 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 문학에서 영감을 받은 여러 가지 사례를 통해 현대 사회에서 문학의 위치를 다시금 확인하게 되었으며, 둘째, 본 연구자의 영감의 원천으로서 『잃어버린 시간을 찾아서』에서 현대인의 정체성 상실과 시공간에 대한 혼돈을 발견하였다. 셋째, 디자인 영역에서 문자의 다양한 활용을 확인하고, 문자를 이용하여 문학적 감성을 품은 디자인을 모색하였다. 넷째, 투과?반투과 효과를 통해 공간 재구성의 도구로서의 가치를 지니는 디자인의 가능성을 제시하였다.;The society of today is continuously being influenced by globalization and informations due to the development of new-media and informative communication. The field of politics, economics, community and culture are inter-changing fast as society with information is being highly developed. These changes of the society is based on 'The Informative Society', created by bonds of computers, communications, and humans. With the development of informative communication, goods are being replaced to make the world possible to overcome the limit of time and space. Also, the use of information is being wide-spread and diverse, expanding to a new culture. Design itself is also creating a new value with the combination the various fields as it adjoins these diverse and complex cultures of today. Designs ought to deliver an accurate message reflecting the stream of generation of today with recognizing opinions of general public since designs are the representation of the popular culture. Texts are generalized and fundamental tools for delivering the message in many fields. Designs that utilize texts can be easily found around us. They can be in forms of logo for a specific brand, patterns of texts, or both fashion and interior designs that are influenced by graffiti. Furthermore, they can be expressed as the part of literature. We, global citizens of the world today, are facing the problem of lost identity. The confusion caused by the loss of identity and the isolation can be resoluted by finding the meaning of one's life through the literature work. We can review our lives through reading, making each one of us feel the improvement of our minds. Recovering from loss of identity and finding the meaning of the life is possible via literature. I, the researcher, have discovered the loss of identity of modern society through the novel named 『A La Recherche Du Temps Perdu (In Search Of Lost Time)』 by novelist Proust. The sensibility and motivation through literary production 'In Search Of Lost Time' had gave the motivation of design about having a rest and meditate. With a society's meaning time and space getting more vague as the thrive of Internet, I was able to find out the tendency of putting value into smooth communication with private space based on individualism. I will introduce the design, using the characteristic of full-penetration and semi-penetration of fabrics to create not only the private space but also the passage to the World. The following are the contents of this research. First, the review of literature in modern society. Second, the analyze of diverse fields based on literature. Third, the analyze the base of motivation from 'In Search Of Lost Time' Fourth, the analyzing two of the methods in fabric transformation: 'The Laser Cutting Method' and 'The Burn-Out Method' and examining the actual example. Following are the results of the researchers done. First, affirming the standing of literature in modern society through diverse examples from motivation from literature. Second, discovering the diverse use of letters in design. Third, looking for designs with literature sensitivity, using the letters in delivering the message. Fourth, presenting the possibility of the Full-Penetrating and Semi-Penetrating effect as a tool for recreating the space.
