절제의 미로 표현된 현대조각보 디자인

Abstract

한국의 미를 보통 ‘선과 면’, ‘색의 조형미학’에서 찾는데 이런 조형미학을 가장 잘 보여주는 것이 바로 우리의 전통조각보이다. 전통조각보는 직선 적인 면 분할 방식과 색채 및 근원적 사상에 이르기까지 기하추상과 매우 유사한 특징을 보이는데, 보편적인 미를 추구했던 기하추상의 정신과 전통조각보의 유사성은 아름다움을 인식하는데 있어 동서양이 다르지 않은 일반적인 보편성이 존재함을 알 수 있다. 전통은 끊임없이 변화하고 사라지고 또 되살아나 오늘을 거쳐 미래에 이른다. 전통의 변화와 지속성, 고유성은 과거의 순간으로만이 아니라 현재와 미래를 잇는 정신문화로 재탄생 될 수 있는 것이다. 그러므로 예술적 전통은 과거에서 현재에 이르기까지 고전적인 것들의 현대적 활용을 통해 고전의 동시적 체험을 이루면서 현대에도 아직 전개?발전되는 생명력을 가질 수 있다. 전통조각보에서의 현대적 의미라 할 수 있는 미니멀리즘에서 찾아보고 그것들의 의미를 되새기며 전통조각보에서의 느낄 수 있는 현대적 감각을 극대화 시켜 표현하고자 한다. 조각보에서 보여지는 기하학적의 형태의 단순한 구조와 현대의 미니멀리즘과 일맥상통하는 부분이 있고, 그것들의 조형성과 색채에 표현된 이미지를 통해 한국의 미를 살릴 수 있는 현대적 색채와 조형 감각으로 작품을 제작하고 실제 그 모티브를 응용하여 다방면으로 응용될 수 있도록 여러 방법을 시도해 보고자 하였다.;In general, beauty of Korea can be discovered through 'Line and Surface' and 'The Formative Aesthetics of Color'. Such formative aesthetics can be represented best by the very Korean traditional patchwork wrapping-cloth. The traditional patchwork wrapping-cloth shows very similar characteristics to geometrical abstract from the division method by linear surfaces and color to a fundamental ideology. It can be thought that there is general universality between the East and the West with respect to understanding beauty through similarities between the spirit of geometrical abstract, which pursued general beauty, and the traditional patchwork wrapping-cloth. Tradition continuously changes, disappears, restores and reaches to the future passing through the present time. The change, continuance and originality of tradition can be reborn as a spiritual culture that connects the present time to the future as well as to the past days. Therefore, from the past to the present time, artistic tradition forms the simultaneous experience of tradition through utilizing traditional products for modern styles and can maintain vitality that still expands and develops in the modern day. The author found that the basic elements of design; line and surface, are repeatedly used in geometrical forms of patch work wrapping-cloth. The form of repetition, which is easily found in nature object or buildings, is the basic of patchwork. The author's patchwork fully emphasized the spiritual aspects; beauty of moderation and space, and also used bold relief technique to get out of the aspect of patchwork's plane surface.
