폴리에지(foliage)패턴을 이용한 패브릭 디자인

Abstract

현대사회에서 인간은 금세기 중 빠른 속도로 정보를 공유하는 디지털 문화의 흐름 속에서 살아가고 있다. 그러나 현대 사회의 다른 한 쪽에서는 육체적·정신적 건강의 조화를 통해 행복하고 아름다운 삶을 영위하려는 사람들이 늘어나면서 웰빙(Well-being) 즉, 자연주의적인 삶으로 회귀하려는 움직임이 강하게 일어나고 있다. 21세기는 인간을 위해, 인간의 진정한 삶의 질을 높이기 위한 주체성회복의 방향으로 진행되어야하고 20세기의 기계 문명적 사고에서 파생된 비인간성, 탈자연성을 복원시키자는 공감대가 사회 전반적으로 형성되고 있다. 즉, 기존의 고정적인 문화를 변화시켜 자연성과 인간성을 회복하는 '포용'의 패러다임의 수용이 요구되고 있는 시점이다. 그 결과 현대 사회에서 최근 가장 대두되고 있는 것은 단연 ·친환경·과 관련된 이슈일 것 이다. '친환경'에 대한 공감대는 사회전체 각 분야에서 이루어지고 있다. 최근 기업들의 경영철학을 살펴보아도 친환경 소재와 친환경적인 디자인을 앞세운 이른바 '친(親)환경 경영'을 강조하고 있고, 각 분야에서 친환경 소재를 만들려고 수많은 연구를 진행하고 있다. 섬유 디자인과 밀접한 사업 분야인 염색사업 분야에서도 환경 친화적인 기술이 도입돼 21세기형 경제적이고도 환경적인 패션 섬유 사업을 추구하고 있다. 위에서 언급한 친환경이란 ·환경을 거스르지 않고 서로 공존하는 것·을 말한다. 본연구자는 친환경의 개념을 기술(technique), 소재, 패턴(motive) 등의 여러 측면에서 접근하여 본 후 패턴(motive)에 관한 소재를 자연에서 찾아 그 중에서도 폴리에지(foliage)를 주개념으로 하여 시각적 친환경성을 띤 패턴(motive)으로 사용하기로 한다. 그리고 이를 통하여 자연주의적이고 친환경적인 모티브와 기법을 응용한 패브릭 디자인을 제안 하고자한다. 본 연구자가 설정한 연구 방법은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 친환경 디자인으로서 폴리에지(foliage) 패턴에 관한 연구를 문헌자료를 통하여 고찰한다. 둘째, 스티치를 일반 스티치, 아플리케, 패치워크로 구분하여 진행하여 스티치의 특성을 연구하였다. 그리고 그 원단위에 다양한 스티치 땀을 이용하여 고부가가치가 있는 패브릭으로 만들어 내었다. 이를 이용하여 총 15점의 작품을 실제 제작하였다. 이러한 연구과정을 통하여 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자연에는 수없이 많은 폴리에지의 일종인 잎, 군엽, 나뭇가지 등이 있는데 사진을 통해서 그것의 특징을 도출하여 모티브를 만들어 보는 과정에서 흥미로운 결과물을 얻게 되었다. 그 결과 폴리에지는 친환경적인 시각적 효과를 연출 할 수 있는 모티브로 적합하다는 것을 알게 되었다. 둘째, 스티치의 땀, 실의 굵기, 실의 색상 등에 의해서 생기는 다양한 변화가 부가가치를 창출할 만한 주요 요소 및 테크닉으로 용이하다는 것을 발견하였다. 셋째, 작품을 3그룹으로 나누어 한 작품을 제작해 본 결과 스티치에 다양한 변화를 주기 위한 기법들의 혼합사용은 질감 효과를 통한 표현 가능성이 무한함을 증명할 수 있었음은 물론, 폴리에지 모티브의 표현 가능성을 다양하게 확대하였다.;People live in the stream of digital culture that everything changes very fast. In this digital culture people who are eager to lead the happy and good life through the harmony of mental and physical wellness have been increasing gradually. For this reason, the movement of naturalism, what we called, Well-bing, is in a fashion. In the 21st century, we are approaching the consensus; the recovery of human identity should be prior to any other things for improving the quality of human life. Conversely, thoughts such as impersonality and non-naturalism coming from mechanic civilization of the 20th century should be restored right. In other words, paradigm, 'tolerance or generosity' is required to be accepted by changing the current sluggish culture recently. What is on the rise is, we can say, environmentally-friendly issues. We can easily find the trend of moving towards ??Green?? in most fields of society. For example, management philosophies emphasize on 'Green management' by using environmentally-friendly design and materials. Also, many researches for developing new environmentally-friendly materials are in the process. Especially, fashion&textile industry is one of fields moving towards Green. As dyeing industry related to textile design closely applies 'Green technologies'(environmentally-friendly technologies), a 21st century economic and environmental fashion&textile industry is being settled in the main stream. 'Greenness' means not being against environment, but coexisting with other things. For this reason, the researcher has approached its concept with various aspects, such as techniques, materials, and motive etc. And then, the researcher got inspiration of motive from nature and would use visible green(environmentally-friendly) motive with 'foliage'. The researcher would suggest fabric design applying natural and environmentally-friendly motive and techniques. 1. The researches about foliage motive as environmentally-friendly design through thesis or documents were studied. 2. the features of stitch techniques were found out after the stitch techniques were classified to three stitches; general stitch, applique, and patchwork. And then, three fabrics were made with various stitch techniques. Afterwards, 15 artworks were made by using those fabrics. I drew the results from procedure of research as follows. There are a lot of foliage motives like leaves, branches and frondage in nature. I approached an interesting result through the process of making motives by drawing their unique features. The result was that foliage is appropriate to express 'greenness' visuality effectively. Also, that various changes caused by stitch, thickness and color of thread etc. can create added values is found out. Last, using mixed techniques for more various changes not only extended the expression possibilities of foliage motive but also proved that the possibility of expression is not limited.
