조선시대 궁궐 단청(丹靑)이미지를 활용한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

21세기의 디자인은 감성, 컨텐츠, 사이버 등의 키워드를 통해 혁명적인 변화를 시도하고 있고, 디자인의 활동과 가치가 무한한 상상의 세계로 확산되면서 모더니즘적 사고와 문화를 배경으로 한 디자인은 유행과 아름다움의 트렌드를 이끌어왔다. 시대적 가치변화가 과거의 산업사회에서 정보와 지식을 기반으로 하는 사회로 변화함에 따라 지역의 고유문화에 바탕을 둔 다양성과 글로벌한 가치관이 생겨나게 되었다. 패션디자인에서도 각 나라에서 고유하게 발전되어온 문화 예술적 배경과 디자인의 특성이 밀접하게 관련되어 있다. 이러한 점에서 본 연구는 한국의 조형성과 상징성을 가진 단청을 패션디자인의 모티브로 보았으며, 한국적 전통미의 표본이라 할 수 있는 단청의 화려함을 승화시켜 복식디자인에 적용하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 복식디자인의 영감으로 적용할 수 있는 단청에 대한 이론적 고찰을 토대로 단청무늬에 표현된 색채와 형태적 특성을 인식하는 요인을 규명하여 이를 복식 디자인에 적용하고자 하였다. 연구의 내용으로는 첫째, 단청의 정의와 역사에 대해 알아보고, 단청의 여러 종류에 대해 살펴보았다. 둘째, 단청이 갖는 다양한 특징들을 체계적으로 알기위해 문헌을 통해 색채와 무늬를 분석, 고찰함으로써 그 조형적(造型的)인 형태와 화려한 색채의 상징적인 요소를 찾아내고, 단청을 활용한 디자인사례를 연구하고자 하였다. 셋째, 연구된 자료를 토대로 단청무늬와 색채를 표현하는 데 의상의 전달력을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안제시로 곡선표현을 하는 데 용이한 땋기기법과 올 풀림을 선택하고, 현대패션에 적용된 사례를 연구하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 조선시대 5대 궁궐의 단청에 나타난 상징성을 중심으로 의상에 활용한 무늬는 연화문, 주화, 녹화문등으로 제한했다. 이를 바탕으로 조선시대 궁궐 단청의 화려한 색상과 무늬, 선, 면, 형태 등을 활용하여 의상디자인으로 재구성하였다. 이를 통해 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 단청의 무늬를 모티브로 한국적 전통이미지와 현대적 감각이 조화를 이룬 선과 면적인 조형성을 복식에 도입할 수 있게 되었다. 둘째, 조선시대 궁궐단청의 화려한 색채를 표현하고자 단청의 오방색과 간색을 사용하여 색상대비를 통한 강렬함으로 표현되는 단청의 색은 디자인 아이디어의 발상 및 색채감각의 주요한 영감원으로 쓰일 수 있었다. 셋째, 땋기기법과 올 풀림을 통하여 재질감을 가진 소재로 장식적인 미를 연출하게 되었다. 본 연구는 조선시대 궁궐단청 색상의 화려함과 무늬를 깊이 인지하고, 곡선과 직선의 조형적 요소를 활용하여 의상디자인에 적용하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 가장 한국적인 정서가 배여 있는 단청무늬에 창의성을 발휘하여 더욱 독특하고 조형적인 아름다움을 내세운 디자인으로 평가가 되어 질 가능성으로 발돋움해야 할 것이다.;With the 21st century's revolutional changes in design through key words such as sensibility, contents and cyber and the expansion of design to an infinite imaginary world which is full of design activities and values, design based on modernism thoughts and culture has led a trend of fashion and beauty. As the values of the times change from the existing industrial society to the information and knowledge-based society, a sense of values based on variety through unique regional cultures and globalism has appeared. Fashion design is also closely related to each country's unique cultural and artistic backgrounds and design characteristics. For this reason, the study regarded dancheong that has Korean plastic beauty and symbolism as a motive of fashion design, and aimed to apply the splendid beauty of dancheong, which is an example of traditional Korean beauty, to fashion design. Therefore, the study attempted to establish a theoretical basis for dancheong in order to use it as inspiration for fashion design and to examine factors recognizing the characteristics of colors and shapes expressed in dancheong patterns in order to apply them to fashion design. The study contents are as follows. First, the study investigated the definition and history of dancheong and examined its various kinds. Second, the study found out the symbolic factors of its plastic shapes and splendid colors and investigated design cases using dancheong by analyzing and examining its colors and patterns through documentary records in order to systematically discover various characteristics of dancheong. Third, based on research data, the study selected braiding technique and strand releasing to express curves for improving fashion appeal in dancheong patterns and colors, and made research into cases applied to modern fashion. On the basis of symbolism appearing in dancheong in five major palaces of the Joseon dynasty, the patterns used for fashion were restricted to the lotus pattern, Juhwa pattern and Nokhwa pattern. The splendid colors, patterns, lines, planes and shapes of palace dancheong of the Joseon dynasty were reorganized as fashion design. Conclusions of the study are as follows. First, plastic beauty composed of lines and planes and harmonized with traditional Korean image and modern sensibility could be applied to fashion design by using dancheong patterns as a motive. Second, the strong colors of dancheong is expressed through color contrasts using five traditional Korean colors and compound colors in order to describe splendid colors of palace dancheong of the Joseon dynasty, and such colors were used as major inspiration sources for design ideas and color sensibility. Third, decorative beauty could be produced using materials with unique textures through braiding technique and strand releasing. This study aimed to recognize the splendidness of dancheong colors and patterns of the Joseon dynasty and make use of plastic elements composed of curves and straight lines for fashion design. Adding creativity to dancheong patterns that have Korean sensibility, dancheong patterns should develop to a more unique and beautiful design.
