중학교《생활중국어》삽화자료의 문제점과 개선방안

Abstract

본 연구는 제 7차 교육과정에서 사용되고 있는 중학교 중국어 교과서 본문 삽화를 분석하여 그 문제점을 알아보고 바람직한 삽화의 개선방안을 제안하는 것에 목적을 둔다. 이에 우선적으로 삽화의 개념, 학습 자료로서의 삽화의 기능, 삽화가 의사소통능력에 미치는 영향을 중심으로 삽화자료에 대한 이론적 배경을 고찰하였다. 또한 교과서 본문 삽화를 대상으로 삽화의 출현빈도 및 구성방식, 삽화 내용에 관한 분석을 진행하였다. 특히 삽화의 내용에 관한 분석은 문화성의 반영정도, 본문내용과의 관련성, 의미전달의 명확성의 세 가지 기준에 의해 이루어졌다. 그 결과 현행교과서의 삽화의 대부분은 그림의 교육적 가치가 고려되지 못한 채 단순히 본문내용을 시각화하는 수준에 그치고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 삽화내용이 본문과 관련성이 낮거나 전혀 틀린 그림으로 제시된 경우 등의 사례가 지적되기도 하였다. 삽화내용상 문화성이 부족하다는 점과 전반적으로 구성이 단조롭다는 점도 제작의 개선을 요하는 문제점이었다. 이에 따라 본 연구자는 교과서 삽화 제작시 고려해야할 사항을 다음과 같이 제안하였다. 첫째, 본문 삽화의 표현기법은 다양한 방식으로 개발되어야 한다. 지루하고 단순한 구성은 학습자의 흥미를 유발하기 어려우므로 제작단계에서 마땅히 이 점이 중시되어야 할 것이다. 둘째, 삽화에 등장하는 시각적 내용은 중학생들의 인지수준을 고려하여 비교적 이해하기 쉬운 요소들로 선정되어야 한다. 셋째, 삽화에 문화적 정보를 반영하여 학습자를 목표문화의 실제에 더 가까이 다가갈 수 있도록 도와야 한다. 문화교육은 언어교육과 동시에 이루어져야 하므로, 목표문화의 특색이 첨가된 삽화를 통해서 학습자에게 자연스럽게 문화를 체험할 수 있는 기회를 주어야 할 것이다. 넷째, 삽화는 학습내용을 명확하게 전달하여야 한다. 언어내용과 일치되지 않는 삽화는 오히려 부정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있으므로, 삽화 제작단계에서 반드시 검토되어야 할 것이다. 다섯째, 삽화의 제작은 결국 교과서 내용의 집필진과 삽화가의 협동작업이므로, 양측의 충분한 커뮤니케이션이 이루어져야 한다. 제작자들은 수업현장에서의 중요한 교수매체를 만든다는 사명감을 바탕으로 삽화에 대해 철저히 연구하고 준비해야 할 것이다. 이상과 같이 본 연구자는 삽화제작과 관련한 개선방안을 모색하고 참고가 될만한 자료를 제시하였다. 이러한 본고의 시도가 삽화제작자들이 삽화의 중요성과 가치를 인식하고 보다 유용한 자료를 제작할 수 있도록 도움을 주는 계기가 되었으면 한다.;The objective of this study is to make suggestions for improvement of the middle school Chinese textbook illustrations on the seventh educational curriculum by associating with evaluation of it. For the method to perform the aim of this study, the inquiry into theoretical backgrounds was conducted with the emphasis on the concepts, functional aspects of illustrations as well as it's effects on communicative competence. An analysis on the frequency of use, structure, and contents of illustrations was also implemented in this study. Especially, the contents evaluation was performed based on three major criteria; Reflection of culture patterns, Correlation with contents, and Delivery of clear messages. As a consequence, the study proved that most illustrations in current textbooks have been doing a role of just visualizing its contents without being considered it's educational value. It was also found that some cases were not relevant enough to the contents or even not relevant at all. Moreover, it was pointed out that the illustrations needed to carry more of cultural heritage and to be well-organized. In result, this study comes up with some suggestions in terms of production of textbook illustrations as follows. First, various illustrating methods should be developed for the effective portrait of illustrations. This point should be prioritized from the beginning stage of production because it is hard to grab the reader's interest with boring and plain frameworks of illustrations. Second, it is important that the elements of visually illustrated contents should be chosen carefully to help middle school students for better understanding. Third, the illustrations should contain cultural information to bring learners closer to the culture of target language. When cultural learning goes in parallel with language learning, the learners can experience the cultural backgrounds spontaneously through the illustrations decorated with cultural characteristics. Forth, the illustration should deliver its clear messages. It is strongly recommended to review the illustrations through whole production process whether it matches up the contents as an irrelevance can cause negative effects to learners. Finally, close collaboration between the textbook writers and illustrators is not merely desirable, it is essential. Furthermore, they always need to be focused and prepared on making educational illustrations with a strong sense of responsibility. In conclusion, this study has been looking at the possible solutions to the problems in terms of developing illustrations for textbooks and providing some related information. I wish this research gives both writers and illustrators an opportunity to make much improved educational materials as well as to have a clear understanding on importance of textbook illustrations.
